For what it’s worth you are gorgeous as you are and I respect you for your vulnerability and honesty. I also really respect your book reviews and insights. Keep being real. ❤️ As you are.
Nathan, that’s so kind of you to say. It’s so easy to feel as though I’m posting into the void sometimes. Thanks for your encouragement, and thanks for watching ☺️💛
I feel for you and your daily challenges with pain and body dysfunction (I live with ME/CFS and have a daughter who is housebound because of it). It is natural to mention your body and how it makes you feel more frequently than a healthy able-bodied person! And it's your channel. You shouldn't feel the need to apologize for talking about your life. Even if you didn't really enjoy your day out in Kilkenny county, your video brought me joy! I spent a week there when I was young, and it brought back happy memories. I hope that you will continue to enjoy Our Share of Night and am looking forward to your review 😊.
Thanks so much for your kind comment, and for the encouragement. Co. Kilkenny is so beautiful. I live on the border of it but don’t explore it nearly as often as I should. I’m glad to have been able to bring up some happy memories for you 💛 Our Share of Night is going well so far. I’m working my way through it very slowly. It has completely subverted my expectations of what I expected the book to be and it’s quite gruesome in parts, but so far I’ve been really enjoying it. I hope you’re taking lots of time to care for yourself and to read good books 💙
Lovely video. I was sorry to hear about your physically and mentally/emotionally not feeling well, and glad you felt a bit better a few days later. I also have moments of body image woes, barely working up the motivation to shower, etc. I don't think I'm generally as successful as you when it comes to getting into motion with a walk, yoga, etc, even though I don't have a chronic disease - which is to say that I think you would be justified in feeling quite proud of how you manage the challenge of being human. 😊 You've got me intrigued about Our Share of Night! It has been on my TBR for at least a year or two, but not a high priority. Maybe when I hear how it turned out for you that will prompt me to move it up the list - maybe for next fall... Take good care! 🎃
Thanks Jodi. Being a human in a body is such a ridiculous experience sometimes. I love how you worded that - “the challenge of being human”. I don’t believe any of us should be comparing ourselves to the next person. If anything, I’m quite privileged in many ways. I don’t have a full time job or a family to care for so I have a lot more free time than the average person, which naturally makes it easier for me to take part in exercise ☺️ So far I’m still only about 200 pages into Our Share of Night. It’s really such an unusual and uniquely written story that’s quite bizarre and even grotesque at times, but it works really well within the context of the story. I can’t speak for the entirety of the book just yet but so far, I’d absolutely recommend it ☺️💛
I do think that even though the mayority of women have some sort of body dysmorphia, and suffer a lot from weight gain, everytime I watch or hear a woman talking about it I'm really grateful. It absolutely helps realizing we're not alone in this feeling, and I find the vulnerability really inspiring and refreshing. So thank you, Ailsing for your openess! I do send you a lot of healing energy, hoping you feel better with time. Pd: I'm really glad you bought some pants that fit the body you have! I'm trying to do that as well and be kind to myself. The ones you picked out are so so cute!
Thanks so much for your comment. I feel so tired of living with/talking about issues with body dysmorphia, etc. because I feel like there are so many interesting and magical things about each and every one of us. But sadly, we’re all only human, and things are going to affect us regardless of ever we want them to or not. I’m glad that what I said could resonate with you in some way, even though I wish it was something that didn’t affect any of us. At least it’s nice to not feel as if we’re doing it alone. I hope that your week is being super kind to you so far 💛
I have heard from so many people (okay, TH-camrs ;) that Our Share of Night is next level!! Definitely not this year, but that book will be a MUST in my TBR next year as I am trying to read more in my native language (Spanish). Take care, Aisling! 🎃
So far it’s really good. I’m still only about 200 pages in so I’m taking it quite slowly. It’s quite gruesome in parts, but it works really well within the context. It’s such an original read so far. I often think that I’d love to be able to read translated stories in their intended language because I’m sure that there are so many nuances lost within the translation. If you do pick it up next year, I hope you enjoy it. So far, I’d definitely recommend it ☺️
❤📚📚❤️ Your mental health walk was beautiful, and I hope it helped. Sending virtual hugs. You are beautiful as you are. I'm glad you found a few reads that you enjoyed.
Sorry you had a rough start to your week - body image is such a fickle fellow and the negative thoughts can sneak up on you for sure. Beautiful driftwood houses! I’m definitely on the hunt for more literary horror. I’m reading The Empusium atm which is marketed as a health resort horror (set in a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients). It’s a slow burn but very intriguing.
Living in a body is such a ridiculous experience sometimes. Thank you! I’d love to try it again when I can allow more time for it but it was a lovely experience and a really great idea for how to repurpose lots of different materials 🏠 A health resort horror sounds so interesting! I recently watched A Cure for Wellness which has slightly similar themes. It didn’t entirely work for me, but I did think that it could work really well as a book. I’d love to hear how you get on with it ☺️
@@aiscahill I ended up temporarily DNFing and returning it to the library as it was a little too slow for the mood I was in. I would love more horror in a sanatorium setting though!
Hi Aisling, Your Priory walk was beautiful. I'm a progressive Christian and love seeing quaint village churches. Thanks for your thoughts on The Girl who Drank the Moon. My SFF booktuber has been hording Kelly Barnhill's books but hasn't read any yet. I'm been discovering MG fantasy this autumn. The Girl Who Drank the Moon is going on my TBR and will be my next read after I finish Solar Bones which after two chapters is beautifully written and heart tugging.
It was really such a beautiful spot, Amy. We’re blessed with so many places like that in Ireland. I hope that The Girl Who Drank the Moon is thoroughly enjoyable for you. It really is such a lovely middle grade. I’m glad to hear Solar Bones has been treating you well so far, too. ☺️
🍁Hello. Hang in there, bookish friend. Let me point out how impressed I am by the many positive things you do to work through your challenges. It can be very hard to push through inertia. Brava to you! I hope you celebrate your strength and creativity and specialness. I read a lot of biographies because if someone's life is worthy of a printed book, its likely I can learn some life lesson from them. Try throwing a biography or two into your reading year. Its like a vitamin for the soul. Some I've loved: Me (by Elton John); Leonardo DaVinci (by W Isaacson); The Tomboy Bride (by H Backus Fish) about living in a Colorado Mining Camp in the 19th c); What is the Grass: Walt Whitman in My Life (M Doty); My Life in France (by Julia Child); Will in the World (by S Greenblatt); Picassos War (H Eakin). So many more.
For what it’s worth you are gorgeous as you are and I respect you for your vulnerability and honesty. I also really respect your book reviews and insights. Keep being real. ❤️ As you are.

Thanks so much for your kindness. And as ever, thanks for watching ☺️💛
omg the bookshop in Waterford 😮 I’m in love? Putting it on my to-visit list!
It’s so nice! Apparently it used to be an old cinema. It’s such a beautiful building 😍

You are me - in a different country! Scary! Thank you for your vulnerability, I feel less alone.
I'm glad I can have even a little bit of a positive impact for you. Take care, friend 💛
