I’ve been following this dude for a while and his workouts are crazy. Seeing him do this makes me feel like he would be good at wielding a sword or bo staff.
I do this exercise and it is an absolutely great exercise for the core and cardio. I use a 10-lb. SPRI medicine ball with handles; and two 24-inch / 60-cm climbing runner slings. I attach the two slings to one of the medicine ball handles and swing for 20-seconds with 10-seconds rest for 8 rounds (4 minutes total). I wear a full-fingered glove for better grip. It's important NOT to use a kettlebell or dumbbell because a bad swing can cause a serious head injury. The rubber medicine ball is less painful if it hits you.
This looks nearly identical to the exercise I did when I was a teenager in amateur boxing, but I used a doubled over log chain. This guy is generating way more force than I did with that water weight. Believe me, two minutes of this, and you will want to cry. Also, keep your elbows tucked like this guy. I am not a specialist by any means, but I can see this wrecking your rotator cuffs if you add arm extension.
this is great. I already do this motion weightless, but now will try with weight. figure 8, or infinity motions like this are such great exercises, because they have a continuous flow that's easier on your joints than jerky movements. also you can reverse the the flow of the figure 8 to work opposite muscles. 👍😎👍
