    Probably my favorite car. Almost bought one pre covid when they were under 40k. Regrets

    Great video, I have 07 C6 Z06 all stock, love every thing about it. Always a thrill on side roads.

    Yes Yes Yes!!!!! Get the C6 Z06 for a track car. They can do double duty if needed as they have ridiculous storage in the back and a really good ride even after coil overs. I've been looking for a good one to do all the work to but it's hard to locate one in my price range, I'll get one eventually. Get one while you can, they're getting more and more rare to find one in good shape.

    I’ve been daily driving a C6 Grand Sport for about 2 years now and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. Fun at the track, autocross, backroads, trips, comfy on the way to and from work, tons of storage, and surprisingly decent gas milage. It’s tough to find a better car for the money.

      Does it get old getting in and out of it everyday? Due to how low it is.

      @@rs3tuber425 I’m basically talking about the best bang for 50k. I can understand the issues you had just like most cars have some sort of problem. I don’t know of a car for this price point and out run a C6Z on a race track. I appreciate your reply.

      @rs3tuber425 you must have a lot of money 💰 then. I paid $15k for C6Z and it's the best bang for the buck for me! Get off your high horse VW 5 cylinder turbo overpriced. I destroy those all day on track days/HPDE.

    5:30 comment on street driving is honestly why I want to sell my 22 BRZ. I just don't feel like I enjoy it unless I'm trying to be some street touge boi. It's not fun to just cruise or do light pulls around town like my mustang gt was.
    I'm looking at vettes and SS's. I'm not very motivated to track much currently so I kind prefer the subtlety of the SS despite the price.

      I don’t blame you, especially if you’re not going to track the car a bunch. All I do is track my GR86, but I think Z06 would be the best of both worlds.

    When you mention going to CA, will they give you a hard time if you’re registered out of state? I’m from Illinois but I’m in Vegas annually for LS Fest and could easily extend the trip to Ca if I felt like it. I have a heads,cam, exhaust C6GS but deep down I wish I’d have bought the Z.

    • @phelpsgarage4202

      I’m not sure about that. It was basically a smog legal cam. Put a little bit of boost to it 😎

    • @TheClapGodSr.
      @TheClapGodSr. ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I live in LA and even though they are not super common you do see cars registered from out of state. Legally you are not doing anything wrong so you shouldn't have any trouble even if your car is modified and loud. Just don't go revving in front of cops or putting an extra target on your back lol cuz they will figure out a way to bring you in.

  • @tone3560

    Your consumables will almost double depending on how much you drive it. Which is counterintuitive to owning/tracking a gr86. Trq hp are fun but come with a price and once you have owned a fast car on public roads that can become boring too believe it or not. You become desensitized regardless. You could hunt down an older c5 z06 cheaper and save a couple bucks too.

    • @phelpsgarage4202
      @phelpsgarage4202  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I figured that. The GR86 a blast on track, imagine something with 3x the horsepower

    • @tone3560
      @tone3560 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@phelpsgarage4202 Yes, but then you will have to be 3x more surgical with your inputs coming out of apex's. Brz you essentially can get on power sooner faster with consistent results...the C6 depending on your experience will be hindering/humbling every-time which will net more inconsistent times overall or unwanted over-steer. Sure the fun factor is increased. Just depends on what you want out of a vehicle.

    • @phelpsgarage4202
      @phelpsgarage4202  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tone3560 yeah it would be a overall different experience. I feel the GR lacks some power.. it would be a killer car with around 100 hp more

      Honestly I wouldn't get a c5z....whether it's a c6z or c5z, both are costly when it comes to labor hours and fixing drive train issues...that transaxle makes things cost more....
      Having said all that I love my c6z and am gonna keep it as long as I'm allowed too lol.

    i am thinking of buying a c6 zo6 to track it, i have a problem tho... i am 19 and I only ever drove sub 250hp awd automatic cars, ofcourse i want the rwd manual layout but i am a bit hesitant about having a 500hp sports car being my training car, i could buy a beat up old manual car and learn but i just saved up enough money to buy a zo6 and buying another car will set me back a couple of months. should i train on a low power car or should i get the zo6 and just put a brick behind the throttle pad so i can't floor it?

    • @phelpsgarage4202
      @phelpsgarage4202  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not get a Corvette Z06. I know it’s cool and looks sexy and you’re in a dominant car but you’re just gonna hinder your growth. Think of the phrase drive a slow car fast versus driving a fast car slow. Plus you’re probably have a lot of fun pushing the limit on a slow car.

      I got a c6z thats even more track focused than this one and i LEARNED manual on it. My philosophy is to stick with one car, dont change it and just become intimately familar with it rather than swapping cars every 2-3 years.

    Now try one that weighs 2800 lb with a big cam. You'll grt power to weight ratios that beat most hypercars. And thats usuable poeer to weight, not "my car is a 4000lb boat that puts out 900 hp" and will boil all its fluids after one lap
