I have the same vehicle you have Dan. The only mods I've done are a lift with Nitto Ridge Grapplers, TRD wheels, and NFAB rock sliders. I use my 4Runner for hunting, fishing, hiking, and off-roading in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. It gets very, very rough use on 2-track trails most people would never venture on. I love this vehicle. It gets me home safely after each trip. I have zero issues with this vehicle.
Dan, you’re the best - excellent quick run down of your mods. Nice shout out to TRD Jon. Appreciate your candid thoughts. Agree with many of the same for my 2019 SR5P.
Some TH-cam Toyota Owners spend more time complaining than enjoying what they have! Mine is a 2016 with 47000 miles on it, My biggest points of awareness are that it can Nose Dive on hard braking, and Jealous H8tr’s👎🏾When I trade mine in, I will get another one! 👍🏿
Looks Great!! I just finished doing my last mod on my 2017 TRD Off Road (Nautical Metallic Blue). Big mods I've done Nitto Ridge Grappler Tires, Fuel Enduro D608 rims, Bilstein 5100 2.5" Leveling kit, Alpine Halo ilx F309 for 4Runner Head Unit, JL Audio Speakers all around, K&N Cold Air Intake, Blacked out the front & rear bumper valences with TRD Pro Valence (Black), Blacked out the badging & Lastly just done yesterday Morimoto XB LED Head lights & Tail Lights. Also some small things done in the interior.
Loved this video. Beautiful 4runner. You got a great deal on a Off Road Premium just over 42k WOW, good job! Funny you mention the black carbon fiber. IMHO I like it so much better than the silver trim they have in all other trims including Limited. It looks so dated. That trim was common in cars around 2006. So these off road look so much better with an all black dash/info section. I love the digital clock and will hate to see it go. As dated as many say the 4runner is, it irks me they removed the CD player. I still listen to CDs and many premium brands still have CD players. BTW, I dont call the 4runner dash dated, I call it functional. I HATE swipes and push buttons. I love dials.
Anybody have issue with your front driver's seat clicking/popping as your weight shifts when you drive? Like plastic clicks/pop sounds? When you drive? I had a 2020 4runner and it did that and now that I have a 2023 4runner, it does the SAME thing! Anybody?
I like your in depth review. Planning on buying my wife a 2020 Offroad Premium this week, and will keep this info in mind for when we start 'accessorizing' it.
I ran into the same issue when I was installing mine, some shops I found are 4wheelparts they were charging $600 for the install. Zeus off Road was quoting me the same. I ended up just doing it myself. Rock Toy industries did my bmc and I believe they will do Installs too.
I do, also when I’m at work I can start my car in the office and by the time I’ve walked back to my car (about 5 blocks away) the cars warm and ready to go.
Very nice review
RCI rock slider`s are awesome!! their skid plates are serious protection too.
My 2018 has served me so well. I have had literally zero issues with mine and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
same here! i have a 18' off road non premium. i got almost 40k miles. so awesome that it's worth same if not more than what we paid for it.
@@itr0863 also love my 2018 SR5 Premium .
2016 here and same here!

If you've not yet, replace those Raptor steps with a set of proper sliders with kick-outs and step plates!
Thanks! I went with Cali Raised Rock Sliders

looking forward to grabbing my 2021 Venture soon
Thanks for the video. I think you mean glitchy rather than gimmicky
Hmm. A different type of 1 year review I expected. Cool mods
Would have been nice to have done a walk around of the 4R to get an overall idea of what your truck looks like!
Sorry! Will do one soon
For real man!!!
Great video brotha, just picked up a 2021 TRD-ORP. Grey.
What tires did you get from factory?
Ajt design has the knobs and shifter
So you’re saying I got ripped off? I just purchased a 2017 SR5 with 46,xxx miles for almost $41,xxx. I’m rethinking it now 😩
BTW great video. Keep them coming. Just subbed 👏🏽
Great Review thank you 👍 👍🗽🇺🇸 The Vermonter

Can’t the nosedive issue be fixed with an upgrade in suspension?

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about purchasing the raptor side steps.

Both mine in august only difference is kdss.
For the app, i find refreshing the app helps and i look at the voltage lol if its at 14 I know it started lol
Mine starts at 12.6 even when the car starts, occasionally it’ll freeze and restart. But the battery voltage never changes
TRD Off-Roads sold in Canada have dual-zone climate controls. It's strange they don't spec them like that in the U.S.
Great video
Ajt has the hvac knobs but not the radio knobs yet
Hey Dan, love the content. One of your vids you mentioned you had your eye on a new RRW wheel if I recall. What model were you looking at? Thanks
I was looking at their RR7!
Hey man what wheels and size are you running right now? They look so nice. Let me know when you're ready for a new one I'll buy this from you.
Summit Off-road Raptor wheels, -12 offset!
Get general grabber a t x. They are great tires
next mod: wireless car play adapter
Did you paint your front bumper valance? Or did you order a new black valance?
Plastidip

it kinda sounds like you shoulda got the pro =P
If they ever come out with another shade of red I’m definitely trading for it 😂
How are those tires at 60mph? Any shake in the steering wheel?
I did have shaking at 60mph, had to get tired and wheels rebalanced and that solved my problems
Hey Dan! I live in Minnesota and was wondering if you recommend a shop to have my lift installed at?
I ran into the same issue when I was installing mine, some shops I found are 4wheelparts they were charging $600 for the install. Zeus off Road was quoting me the same. I ended up just doing it myself. Rock Toy industries did my bmc and I believe they will do Installs too.
@@danyang3336 thank you!! I’m actually really close to 4wheelparts I’ll have to check them out.
Yeah they are mainly a jeep shop, they don’t have a whole lot of 4Runner stuff in stock but overall a cool shop.
@@danyang3336 yeah I kinda was thinking the same thing. Did they quote you a pretty quick turn around time for the install?
It was about a full day or so
I don’t like that is 4x4 and not AWD. Or am I missing something?
I have a RAV4 and is AWD (yes is different)
But I’m not used to the 4x4
you go off - roading with your 4runner?
If you have to make so many modifications to a vehicle, it wasn't an interesting vehicle to start with!
Honestly, honestly, honestly. . .
Was $41,750 your drive out price or before TT&L? And this is the TRD OFF-ROAD trim?
Yes, off the lot for $41,750
@@danyang3336 Brand new?
Jesus how are you getting 18mpg lol I only get 14 and only difference is I have a front runner roof rack on my ORP lol
This was before my roofrack, now I am down to about 16/17
Where was your grill from?
Taco Vinyl
Do you live in a really cold wintery place? I mean who starts their car from 5 blocks away seriously 🤣🤣🤣😅🤣😂😂😂😝🤪🤪😝😄😆🤣
I do, also when I’m at work I can start my car in the office and by the time I’ve walked back to my car (about 5 blocks away) the cars warm and ready to go.
