    Sorry what? A 65 litre dry bag out front??? That is insane! Not so much a question of what you CAN take, but what you couldn't take with one of those! Also - I'd highly recommend swapping out the Mavic 3 for a Mini 3 or 4. So much more compact. If i carried as much stuff as you I'd certainly be trying to save some space/weight. Maybe upgrade that cheapy tripod to some thing a little lighter, Ulanzi do a couple that aren't too bad on the wallet.
    Having said all that - we all have reasons for the gear choices we make & I do love these sorts of videos :)

      Indeed! I get your point about the minis, but I’m after quality not portability with the filming stuff hence the Mavic 3 :)

    I always find a bikepacking list interesting. One thing I’ve always wondered why no sleeping bag liner? Also you always blow your sleeping mat up by mouth have you ever considered an air pump?

    • @Bikepacking
      @Bikepacking 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had a liner i removed it from my gear list just wear full merino wool base layers

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do actually use a liner - forgot to include it 😣 I have a fleece lined one for winter and a super soft one for all other seasons. Mostly so I don’t have to wash my sleeping bag as much 😛

    • @SwampyDuckRidesAgain3636
      @SwampyDuckRidesAgain3636 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Cycling366 yes that’s what I was thinking as you really don’t want to be washing your winter one.
      What about the air pump? Just saying as they don’t recommend inflating by mouth?

    • @Bikepacking

      By introducing water vapour to your pad you can get a build up of bacteria that causes mould and dampness in the pad which can cause breakdown.

    I travel a lot lighter than you but have the same Stanley pot. I leave one cup behind and my cooker, lighter, and mini gas canister fit inside it. Interested to see your new tent....

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cool! Good idea regarding removing a cup. I use one for food and one for drink. So one for soup or cereal and one for tea/hot chocolate. New tent should be unveiled on next months trips so stay tuned :)

    These are great suggestions. My plan is to travel to Inverness get a train to Edinburgh as I’m going to the tattoo and then another train to Scarborough for the YC. Then a train to Glasgow and on to Campbell town for the CW. Obviously I have to travel very light from South Africa as I cannot store anything so will put most of my gear in the box and the rest will be hand luggage.
    Any suggestions on how to pack as you have done when traveling overseas?
    I’m going to be asking some questions if you don’t mind as
    I haven’t bike packed solo before and need to do things right up front.

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers! Sounds like a great adventure coming! Typically I fill the bike box with spare clothes and other lightweight bulky items that keep the bike box under the 32kg limit.
      Other than that, other bags can be stored in the bike box wherever you’re leaving it if it’s a reusable box of course.

    Is your Topstone aluminium or carbon? And what do you recommend for travelling with luggage. Im assuming the Topstone has fixing holes for the pannier rack? I’m looking at investing in a new bike for travel starting with The Hebridean Way (I loved your video). I was going to put a metal pannier frame on my carbon Cannondale Synapse, I’ve been advised against it due the stress it puts on the frame as it doesn’t have pannier fixing holes etc. Any thoughts much appreciated on bike frame requirements.
    Also of interest do you know how much weight all your luggage and contents adds up to?

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! It’s aluminium and it has rack eyelets. Yeah you’d probably not want to overload yours much. You could get away with a Topeak Tetrarack or something equivalent, just make sure you protect the frame first.
      I don’t have an exact weight but given I carry a camera, microphone, tripod, drone and spare batteries and cases for all of them, it tends to add up! If I was just camping in the summer I could easily get it sub 10kg I reckon

    I have just added the Topeak MTX to my setup, do you have the rain cover or just use drybags inside?

    • @Cycling366
      @Cycling366  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nice! Neither to be honest! I have the rain cover but have never used it and the dry bags only come out if I’m camping. It’s fairly waterproof for most things. Just not long days out in the rain!

      @@Cycling366 I'm in the process of streamlining my gear, the lighter the better. But that can sometimes come at a cost, and that usually means being cold!
      Several years back I'd been riding (motorcycle )across Morocco, with daytime highs of 45°c! When we entered Spain, we made camp 4000m up in the Sierra Nevada's, it dropped to -5 during the early hours, I was crying in my bag, literally! The following day it was 30°c, I was riding for about 6hrs before I finally warmed up! 🤣
