These guys deserve SO much more fame than they get. It sucks they haven't gotten to the level of say Slipknot and A7X in terms of popularity.

I love both a7x and slipknot but they're popular because the metal there is so diluted, Trivium isn't sacrificing it though

trivium is pretty far away from being nu metal and metalcore. they dip more into the thrash / melodic / progressive sides of metal.

Heard the singer on Tom & Dan Show on Real Radio 104.1, he was live in the studio, the guys did not listen to their music, but it was a great interview and the dude is super nice. Real down to earth, was not insulted the guys didn't know their music well but they are from the same area, down there in Orlando, FL., and was great to hear him fill them in on his history. He only began singing because they needed someone to sing, and he was born to play guitar. Learned he could shred early on in his life.

You are 100% right; I met the guys in Trivium back in 2009 when they touring with Chimaira and Whitechapel. They were so gracious! Corey and I just chatted guitars for a good ten minutes when other people were waiting to meet them and sign autographs :-) Very cool dudes. And this new song is a straight-up BANGER!

I agree...this is nowhere near as dark as Thrown Into The Fire or He Who Spawned The Furies but this song is more technical, illustrative and fucking brilliant even if it's not as heavy.

Also, Alex... I know you sometimes enjoy checking out new-ish bands. How about a kind of new (from 2017) band called Ulfven from Sweden that really has thrown out some awesome music our way? I could recommend the two singles ("Korpen" and "Häxkonst") they released from their EP from early 2020, and also "Skärselden" which is a bit longer track from the same EP. Awesome melodic death/doom imho that really resonates well with me! Some really great production as well.

I was saying this earlier.. Trivium usually sounds very Metalcore, but this sounds very Iron Maiden-ish almost with tons of THRASH, progressiveness and heavy as fuck and it's actually melodic!

I know you've been going bat-shit for Trivium, Matt Heafy has some hidden gems, look up the Roadrunner United project, he wrote In The Fire specifically for King Diamond to sing, and it's written in the style of King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, it's a solid banger. He also wrote Dawn of the Golden Age with Dani Filth in mind, the entire album is an awesome concept
