Another knitting engineer here 🙌 about to start my first engineering job this Friday.
Good luck! ❤ That’s such an accomplished in and of itself 👏
@@AnItalianKnitter thank you so much ☺️
Best of luck in your new job and all the cool new experiences you have ahead of you!
Can't believe you did all that on the day of your flight! I take days to pack for way shorter trips.
Your European subscriber here 🙋🏼♀️😂 Which country are you flying to? Maybe Poland (Warsaw)? 😅 if so we can meet for coffee and knit! 🥰
I don't travel for work, but I love your tips for packing clothes & knitting projects. I always overpack for vacations and can use your tips for inspiration on my next journey.
Flew from the Caribbean to the U.S and they took my needles but give them back to me 5 minutes later. They did not mention length, but they mentioned the pointiness of the needles. I was doing Mosaic Crochet at the time, and they took my scissors too but returned it because it was a kid's friendly scissors with the round tip.
Another engineer knitter here. Interesting to see your packing methodology; mine is so different. Safe travels.
I recommend compression bags and a small steamer. We paced for a 2 week trip to Europe with one carryon bag. The compression bags made all the difference.
I really enjoyed this style of video, Amy! You're such a natural vlogger and it was fun to see the behind the scenes of packing. Hope your trip is off to a great start!
I have a trip coming up soon too. I found it soothing to see you think of everything and still have space and weight-allowance to spare! I still don’t know which WIP to bring on the planes… no dpns for sure….
I love this more personal kind of vlog!
Have fun and stay safe on your trip! Excited to hear more about your adventures ❤
Hope you're having a wonderful trip so far! Loved the video, some great tips!
Have a lovely trip, Amy. Safe travels ✈️
I feel like you have such closet staples!
Safe travels! I hope you have a good trip and get some time to relax too!
Have a marvelous trip 🛬
Have a great trip Amy, thanks for all the knitting and packing tips. Welcome to Europe! x
I'm also an engineer who knits/crochets and I might be going on my first international trip for work in a couple weeks so the timing of this video was perfect!
Fun vlog, Amy!! Have a great time in Europe!
You should get some compressed packing cubes , they are more efficient
Safe travels!
I don't usually like vlogs but I love this one! Your authenticity and original content ideas just make all your videos chef's kiss 👌
Hope you have a wonderful time and safe travels. Paula from Australia
Safe travels ❤
I enjoyed this video very much. So well organised, bravo!
Have a wonderful time in Europe and hopefully we see a new episode very soon.
Wellcome to Europe! Have a safe journey and a succesfull six weeks at your job 👍
I can pack for a month long tropical vacation in a backpack but going hunting in the cold this week and I have a huge suitcase for a week!
Safe travels - welcome to Europe 😊
you're packing more projects for your trip than i usually have on needles! :-))) but i do think you'll need them all ;-) . ... sometimes i feel like a simple, mundane task like buying a toothbrush in a different country is part of the travel experience [tho if you're on a work trip, i can see you might not have time to fritter away on mundane tasks]. have a wonderful, productive & fun trip!
Safe travels Amy! Can’t wait to see what you perhaps buy in Europe 😉😆. Take good care and big hugs from the UK xxx
Interesting. Good planning. I always take way too much knitting. Safe travel!!
Wow you are so organised. I’ve just returned from holiday in Florida back to uk and my luggage was definitely not as organised. Have a good trip and safe travels x
Have a great time in Europe 😎
My first question was "Which of her own knits is Amy packing?" so thank for answering that early! I think you made good choices. And it's nice to wear hand-knits when traveling for that extra-cozy vibe. :)
Hey Amy great job packing. I pack the same way except I also have compression bags. Get some they are amazing and perfect for packing your yarn or souvenir yarn 😂 I have the same packing cubes and yup love them. I live in Europe the summers so I spend 8-12 weeks usually out there and sometimes I divide the time in different cities or countries so moving freely is priority for me so I totally get it. Also some tips, I usually only carry tiny toiletries for the first few days and then I buy once I’m there if I’m staying in one place the entire time. There’s drugstores and pharmacies every block 😂 and I did the same as far as plugs and extensions I ended up buying some stuff there which I take with me for some things it’s just easier like you said. Also I’ve had the same experience with needles. Some USA airports are fine but I’ve began to even bring wood for USA. For Europe I only do wood needles and If I do check in a bag I’ll put my metal needles in there. A lot of the times I only have a carry on and book bag I usually do laundry and compression bags are my go to for maximizing my space in my carry on. Have fun! I love Europe! Also I’m glad you picked the whitmoor cardigan that’s the one I was hoping you took. It’ll definitely give you a variety between projects.
A great video! I hope you can share some footage from Europe. Safe travels !
I love this video, the info re: knitting needles was very helpful. I always get nervous packing needles because TSA website and their ig account always say its ok, but read a lot of horror stories of needles getting confiscated 😅
Wow! I’m impressed that you can record a podcast hours before your flight! Have a fantastic time in Europe! I’m heading to the Boston area in Oct and plan to stop in one of the stores you mentioned in a prior podcast. I’ll be sure to mention your name! Enjoy!
Definitely taking some tips for my upcoming Europe trip! I hope you're having a great time :)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Leslie!
Uk based and I always fly with wooden needles . Safe travels x
Have safe travel!
Have a great trip! I’m from the UK & if you’re visiting London don’t forget to pop into Loop of London in Camden Passage. It’s my favourite yarn shop 🤩
Your "Pack With Me" video is like getting a crash course in professional packing. Your tips are invaluable. Oh, and before I forget, have you heard about the new v4 Bento Bag by NomadLane? It's creating quite a buzz and might be worth considering for your next business trip
Thank you! I haven't heard of it - I'll need to look it up and see what the buzz is about!
Thanks Amy, that was nice to watch. I really like the way you make an episode.
I just have a question what airports in Europe gave problems? I have flown back and forth from Amsterdam to Barcelona and Geneva and just this weekend to Edinburgh but have had no problems, but I want to visit more cities and it is good info to have. Flying from Amsterdam to different cities in the US never gave any problems😊
Again enjoy your stay here.
What a fun video :) I am going on a short trip for a few days and I packed 3 projects haha. Wishing you safe travels and a good work trip!!
Thank you!
Safe travels….
Where did you get your neknits tags?
Great podcast. Where did you get the tags..love the idea.
Hi! Which tags are you referring to?
Which countries and regions will you see?
Love this video! What luggage do you own? Love the color and sizes! Have fun!

What knitting pattern do you use for your beanies?
I will be making the Wildwood Beanie by Emily Sheehan and the Ammil Beanie by Bluebird Pine Shop. I discuss both patterns in Podcast 21 that just got posted!
