ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳು ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರನ್ನು ಟೀಕಿಸುತ್ತ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರಂತೆ, ''ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ, ನೀವು ಒಬ್ಬ ಧರ್ಮ ಬೋಧಕರು. ಧರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಂಭೀರವಾದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡಬೇಕಾದವರು. ಆದರೆ ನೀವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರಂತೆ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ನಗುತ್ತೀರಿ! ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ನಗಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ! ಚೇಷ್ಟೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ! ಅದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಭೂಷಣವಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದರಂತೆ. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು 'ನೋಡಿ! ನಾವು ಅಮೃತ ಪುತ್ರರು. ಸಚ್ಚಿದಾನಂದ ಸಂತಾನರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ ವದನರು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರುಗಳೇ ನಗುನಗುತ್ತ ಇರುವಾಗ ನಾವು ಜೋಲು ಮೋರ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕುಳಿತಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಯಾರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 'ಮಾ ಶುಚ' ಎಂದರೆ ಅಳಬೇಡಿ ಎಂಬುದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರುಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಬೋಧನೆ. ನಗುನಗುತ್ತ ಬಾಳಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಧರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಇರಲಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾವೂ ನಗುನಗುತ್ತ ಇದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿರುವವರನ್ನೂ ನಗಿಸುತ್ತ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗಿ ಇರಿಸುವುದೇ ಧರ್ಮದ ಆಚರಣೆ !

Makes everyone laugh! You're kidding! That is not a decoration for you." Immediately Swamiji said, 'Look! We are the sons of Amrita. We are the children of Satchidananda. Who said that we should sit with a sling while all our gods are smiling and laughing. 'Ma Shucha' means don't cry. Our gods have taught us to live with a smile. There is no other religion that is bigger than that. The practice of religion is to keep smiling and happy with those who are with us!
