I’ve noticed every 1200 model I’ve had (from 6 MK2’s to now 4 M3D’s -2 being Mint) they’ve all had play at the cartridge collar. I used to visually adjust them straight, but now I use a little flat level. It is what it is :-/ But it can be maintained. You nailed it by saying it’s from the locking nut.

How do you fix it?
For these arms, there is no official adjustment, just twist it. The bayonet mount has a set screw that can be locked down.
