There is really a difference in the amount of dirt both move. It looked like Chris was using a shovel to build the over flow.

Yuppers, that sure turned out to be a couple of beautiful ponds..they're going to look stunningly beautiful once the grass gets mowable size and the ponds filled up.
Some good fishin' will take place in them.

You realize how deep it is when you see a tiny person standing down in there. When I used to jump out of planes you didn't realize how high you were until you saw a car or something to give perspective. Can't wait to see it full.

Oh so nice to see a tailgate waterfall. Mr. David has some nice ponds!! Good that the Beast got cleaned off- not good to return "a loaner" back with lots of mud and dirt. Yes, half the dirt and water gets on you using a pressure washer - just imagine getting soaked washing porch ceilings.

As a GC who often gets stuck cleaning up after subs, I 100% believe there is not a single pressure washer that can make it through one job without something breaking. And for any commenters that think it's maintenance yada yada, trust me, after so many of them have broken on me I know a TON about maintaining them. Probably worth buying a professional rig at this point but that $5k+ has to come from somewhere and I haven't found it yet.

Another job well done!!! I know it was nice having the 550 on these 2 ponds to help speed up the process. Your exposure of that machine should help Volvo make a few extra sales. Now they need to give you one heck of a discount on your next Volvo purchase, or at least throw some free attachments your way!!! It was a bit strange to see you using the high-fall overflow. I hope the owner plans to put some riprap at the outlet, or else he'll have another pond down there!!!

After the first video in this series I commented about the back up alarm being obnoxious to my dog. Another commented. "That it was the owners machine". I would like to thank Mr. David for allowing "adjustments" to be made to his machine. Cause I sure would have missed that dog. Also note worthy was watching Tim work the back slope of that dam. I thought, "there is a man that is truly loved by his God." Bless.

Thank you for another fine video. I was wondering if you dug a bucket full out and placed the stump upside down, if that would make a much better fish habitat. With that being said I know absolutely nothing about building ponds or fish habitat. Cheers.

Those stumps upside down are a umbrella to predators from above, and indeed a clump of stumps together could end up the first nursery for baby fish.
Boy.. do I miss building ponds.. but I always attached a really shallow spot, the growing ground for many species underwater plants, but also where the frogs had their hiding/birth place, water snails and alge eating stuff.
(Not going all technical, nobody who wants that lol! )

When I broadcast grass seed on fresh dirt I drive over it with ATV multiple passes. Not only does it press the seed down into the soil, it buries some of it to keep birds from eating the heck out of it. Deer are curious as cats. Where ever there is fresh dirt, in a short time, there will be a deer track in it.
