- The first few years of the Game Boy's life are filled with portable versions of traditional board games. Japan and Europe were treated to a version of Othello for everyone's favourite black and white hand held. Is it any good? Let's find out!
This is the 121th episode of Boyographic, the series looking to highlight the highs and lows of the Gameboy library, playing the hits and the misses so you don't have to!

Welcome back! It's always nice to hear you again. I didn't knew this game, and I don't only mean the Game Boy game, I didn't know the board game. I think here in Spain we have enough with Parchis, The goose's game, Chess and Damas, as well the many card games that use the Spanish deck of cards.
Thanks Dennis! Had it not been for finding a nice one cheap, I might not have given it a chance, but it's been really good fun to play with my in-laws who aren't great at English lol...

I got this one some months ago, I am somewhat prioritizing european exclusive releases while I am in europe. Aslo I quite enjoy having classic games represented on the gameboy, chess, monopoly, othello, it is all good and interesting fun

Just be careful: it's also the reason I have a ton of European Singstar games I'm never going to play ;) I think so too, but I also think it's fair to point out the ton of modern portable releases of them too as sometimes while it's technically impressive to have them on the GB, they're not always the best ways to enjoy the games! @@GameBoyle Yeah totally, in the case of gameboy you end up with a ton of kind of mediocre infogrames games. But there are some great ones like monster max and adventures of lolo, both of them are worth covering.

I had this CIB it was in great condition, i wasnt collecting for the GB back then so it went
Cheers buddy - early days yet, but glad to be back at it! I've had a few chances to grab it CIB but it's always been a little expensive for my liking... Got a copy of the re-release Othello World while I was in Japan last for peanuts though, so I'm happy with that for now!

I used to play this on a multicart as a kid. I learned the rules of the game because of it but I also learned to lose all the time and never touch it again out of frustration 😆
Haha I ended up playing it longer than I wanted out of stubbornness tbh! Tried a couple of times, but couldn't beat that level 4 AI and as the matches took so long, I just couldn't be bothered to spend another 40 mins on a match! Cheers as always for watching!

I find out about this game in one of those 50-in-1 fake cartridges back in the day, and I had fun with it even though I had to figure out the rules by myself (I haven't heard about reversi at that point). I got my ass kicked everytime and never played it again!
Haha to be fair buddy, I played it knowing the rules and still got my ass handed to me a few times! Give it another go, it's not terribly difficult on the lower level AIs!
