- It's not often that us Bayrippers get to go for a ride on a high performance v-drive. When jack offered me a ride on a v-drive that he and his father custom built, I couldn't say no! Jack started out with V-drives and later on moved to a 21 cougar with a 300r outboard, and now has a 30' Spectre with twin 300R.
Brief overview of this boat from Jack:
"My dad used to race in the 70s (not this boat). He and I both ran this boat at the Wolfeboro NH antique boat regatta along with other similar boats we've built / own. It's a Raysoncraft Grand National with custom wood deck that my dad and I installed. Boat used to be a single center seat race boat. Dad and i did the body work, gel, varnish, blueprinted the bottom, made every piece of hardware. Engine is a 750hp NA 572 big block chevy."

When in doubt, throttle out!
I have been a boat fan my whole life, mostly rides in jet and Marine applications, the v drive has long been my shooting star. I just can't get enough of this. I don't own boats but this video is by far the most intense and actual real life " hey guy you are in a v drive doing 90mph" that I've seen.. So simple, so fast, so epic.
My father had a 64 Hallett flat bottom it came with the most beautiful wood deck
Nothing better than running a properly set up grand National Rayson Craft.
WOW -There would be some totally great skiing behind that beauty.
You are one fortunate man sir.😊
Damn, what a beautiful and dialed boat. Great job to that father and son team.
Amazing build! Put my name on the next one! Awesome work guys!
This is what heaven looks like
GN's just eating that chop. Beautiful 🥇
Sweet !!! I also like the Century Arabian in the back ground
Sounds awesome! Beautiful boat. If your in NH again drop me a line we have a group of go fast boats that likes to meet up.
One foot for the gas pedal and the other for the cavitation plate!!!
looks fun
just wow!!!!! thanks guys
Curious what gears you have in the v-drive? Have you topped it out and see how fast GPS says it goes?
had an old flat bottom 20 footer with 283 and i put a 2 stage power glide in her just about pulled your arms out of there sockets when it changed iunto 2nd
Looks & sounds great
That's a powerglide ?
I had 15ft. Hydro stream with a 150 mercury Out board and chopper Prop. This is much nicer. Love it ☮️❤️
Thanks for the ride !
Now that was freakin spectacular!!
You and your dad built a masterpiece. Enjoyed seeing the countless hours of work you guys spent on it. Outstanding enjoy it.
Back in the early seventies a gentleman at Lake Tahoe had a similar wood deck rayson craft. He had a Chrysler Hemi in her and it was blazing fast and rode very well. Congratulations on the beautiful boat!
Beautiful
Wow great video...thank you
Makes me miss my jet boat it was about like that speed
A really good friend of mine here in NorCal has a Raysoncraft with the dual pedal trim plate circle racing set up. Hes running a blown 572 with dual Holleys and its absolutely insane. I have a 65 Hallet V Drive with a 521 Ford Stroker with trick flow heads and some other go fast stuff and I run 92 mph on gps at sea level here and he passed me like I was in reverse. He said hes run 121 mph but I think he's just guessing. It's fast and wow does it handle with those trim plate pedals. It's a beautiful boat. Speaking of beautiful boats , nice job on yours . Its fantastic
Dang that sucker sure does ride nice and love the deck. My BGF would not have liked being driven that fast n that tough water. Is the hull a Rayson Craft?
Nice. I just got my Hondo back together after almost 20 years apart.
all i can say is, badass!
