When a simple job escalates, you stick with it and methodically diagnose and fix it ... and you keep it real. Well done Brian. "Organization is key to success", and that sure holds true for me. When I haven't seen the passenger seat in my truck for two weeks I know it's time to regroup before I get grumpy and hurried. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos bro!
The timing was impeccable right as you talking about how you fried the last meter 😂. One of my leads on my meter has gash eaten out of it from doing this but still works fine. Nothing like the time I cut a live AC whip tho, that took huge chunk out of my wire strippers. Milwaukee ones too, that was not a good time. But I’m alive to tell the tale
At a demo job, we needed to be done with demoing a whole office lights (huge ceiling plumbing leak) and replace the fixtures, I ve cut a whip of MC feeding 277V wires feeding lights, the light was supposed to be off, but one of the Journeymen started missing with the 3-way in the other side of the room, all I remember is a huge bang, my glove holding the pliers felt extremely hot and seeing stars for a minute, thankfully I didn't fall from the 8ft ladder, but my diagonal cutters had a huuuge chunk missing of them, like 3/8 in diameter missing from the cutters, electricity is no joke
I just bought a new meter as well and I was testing a light too and blow it the exact same way. I was so sad first thing I touch it and blow it 😂 Now I feel relieved knowing I'm not the only one 😅
Been there, done that as an electrician! Honestly, the more I work on Square D QO breakers the more I hate them. And the breakers actually have a PAPER part in the on off handle mechanism that will swell up when damp that won’t allow the mechanism to reset when it either trips or is shut off! I had many fail in even slightly damp areas! The cut out boxes for air conditioning condensers always fail this way from outdoor moisture. HVAC guys HATE these flying turds 💩! Designed to fail and way over priced if ya ask me! 😩
And the other brands are also absolute garbage, GE and cutlerhammer brand new breakers look like they re old stock from the 70s, always dusty and fit and finish is horrific, Eaton BR and even CH fail to trip and reset, Siemens are decent, and so is Square D...Usually
I was right in the middle of this earlier today and all ofa sudden, it said video unavailable. I'm glad to see that you reposted it. I want to see how the electric panel comes out.
Dude u and Alex!! Lol shame on me utube gave me a hard time and had to delete cus they weren't counting my views. I'm sorry It's good now!!! Make sure to like the vid. I'm worried the video might tank cus I reposted
Doesn't she want a dishwasher to work? Can't the diswasher and disposal be on the same circuit? Maybe tap into the disposal wire under the sink and run power to the dishwasher?
I've never worked in a town that doesn't like tandem breakers although it's important to make sure the panel is designed to accept tandems since not all panelboards are, and I've seen a few that allow tandem breakers only in the lower half portion of the panel; a great example of this is the 30/40 panel.
Multigang switch boxes with 3 way and 4 way switches on different circuits are always shockingly surprising when you shut off the breaker to only one of the switches and don't double check everything in the box. I've blown up my fair share of screwdrivers, wire strippers, meter probes and what have you. The tip guards that come with good quality meters can certainly help preserve your probes, and are a must when testing for power in commercial or industrial building where the voltage is 277/480 volts 3 phase and the risk of arc flash is great, in which case appropriate arc rated clothing should be worn.
Have the same meter it has happened to me the same thing , when the metal on the probes is exposed a lot in a tight spot you touch the ground by accident, try to use the plastic covers when you work in tight spots. Like the screwdriver a lot but too pricey. Keep up with good work!
With the flukes you need the 87V, and get extra fuses, all probes are interchangeable with the flukes. I would recommend the technician kit for you also.
Told my helper once make sure the wire nuts were tight on the water heater. When we finished up and fired up the water heater we heard a loud pop. He had tightened them up so tight the wires came through the top of the wire nuts and grounded out on the water heater. 😂
Lol yea this is meeeee. The wire nuts I use let's a 14 gauge wire pass through it. I keep a eye on it but yea I also have a over torquing problem cus I want everything to be tight. But could cause issues. Lol definitely not for the new comers
Man I’ve blown up so much stuff in front of customers. Usually screwdrivers and wire strippers. I’ve been shocked numerous times in front of customer’s. Wish I had all that on camera 😅
I was testing a questionable outlet in my garage and did the same sparky thing. I'm a 52 year old man and screamed like a little girl when it popped! 🤣🤣🤣
Replacing a switch for my mom... who I can get a lot of feedback from... turns out women don't like switches if they're harder to flip. Especially if they're ~50yr old switches they're used to. Not the 60's switches, but mid/late 70's. But ya... have actually had to resort to using the cheaper 'residential' switches for her to make her most-happy with work.
Hey Mr. handyman you may be one of the fortunate and just pop the fuse. In-line fuse in the meter sometimes that happens if he did you’ll be on your way when you replace your fuse in your meter will be back with you. I’ve done the same thing, and got away with low on abusing my meter Tallahassee read read Fred
Meh $30 mistake... now you know, watch those angles or pull the switch first. It told you three things though; you got good grounds, you got power in, and you know which is power and which is your switch leg now... so there's that.
@thehandymanexperience226 I guess inflation sucks, it's been a while (maybe a year and a half), I guess after 20 years I'm finally learning not to fry my tools... lol.
