    In the final part of Smoke Show, we explore Canada's drifting community at a race track that looks like it could be straight out of Mad Max.

      Pennywise while YOU might know all about the car scene, as a journalist you assume the viewers at home don’t. That’s the whole point, to share the stories of other people to people that don’t know about them.

      @@steezgeneral7715 Australia has a huge drift scene, illegal drag racing scene and a massive underground skid scene. That's what he meant; you get it all in one spot here in Oz. The skid culture, both legal and illegal in huge here. The Summernats has the most competitive burnout comp in the world. There is big money up for grabs, but more importantly a lot of pride is on the line. Fast cars and burnouts have been a part of the Australian culture for decades. Almost a right of passage to becoming a man... VICE should deff do a bit on the Aussie car scene. I'd love to show them around the scene, introduce them to the main players and take them around to the workshops that make it all happen by building the cars for the big money players

      Valerie Ball really, the bigger the car scene gets, the happier everybody gets. doesn't matter whatever you identify as just as long as you don't rice out your car or be a part of the stance community, you will be respected.

    • @finnmurtons8727
      @finnmurtons8727 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Valerie Ball I see a lot of women here that are into cars and I gotta tell you, it's their cars that I remember, not their names.

    • @finnmurtons8727
      @finnmurtons8727 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Valerie Ball buy a car that's simple to repair and something you wouldn't be scared of breaking. buy simple tools such as wrenches and ratcheting wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, etc. if you want to make your life easier, you might want to invest in pneumatic tools. do your own maintenance by googling how to do them and looking at schematics (buy a Hayes Auto Repair Manual for your car,) know your car from the inside and out and don't be afraid to ask another person in the car scene questions. we're usually very helpful people and we understand that you have to start somewhere. you could get very valuable tips depending on who you ask.
      p.s. older cars tend to be simpler. anything from 2010+ and you can bet that they'd be really complicated (tons of electronics, sensors, etc.). if you're just starting out and want to learn, get something around the 2000s or below. something like a 92 civ or a 99 BMW 3-series (if you have the cash.) Pontiac Sunfires/Chevrolet Cavaliers are some of the simplest cars that I've worked on.

      The drift scene was still very grassroots till Formula D came to the states thanks to Ryan Sage, and then he launched Formula Drift in 2004 which had increased the popularity of drifting tenfold almost every year since.
      I remember pre 2003 99% of all events were in parking lots, and before that around 1998 we'd flood parking lots to get the car to slide easier oh yeah, and a SR20 front clip was only like $850 bucks.

    Proper motorsports being performed here. Those guys are being reckless af but still deserve some respect because its being properly done in a track not on the public road. This kind of action should be defined as motorsports, not some fast and furious inspired street racing bullshit. Those shits are fucking crime. The guy with the R33 said it absolutely right. Take your car to the track when you are truly passionate patrol head. Don't play on the public road risking not only your life but the life of the others.

    Love that shannonville and the small but growing ontario drift scene could have the host enjoying himself regardless of how much knowledge he has. Definitely just a good vibes event.

    I just don't like the fact that there is such a heavy emphasis on having big smoke, a lot of smaller wheel base cars can't really compete in a pro level anymore in small light weight cars like they used too but it keeps the spectators more interested.

      trust me, i cringe when i hear fast and furious comments and comparisons. he said "hit the mainstream" as in the average person who had no idea what drifting was, had been introduced to the best motorsport ever ha (imo, but for real for real its an amazing sport, hobby or whatever). basically just saying it was an eye opener to a broad audience. and the host is perfect in my opinion. hes one more person to add to that list of humans who had no clue about the sport or the community behind it. this dude got to see the best side of drifting, getting together with friends and random strangers with common interests that ultimately become instant friends and commemorate. the average man or woman can learn a few things by staying a weekend at one of these events, being a "drifter'' lmao" or not, youd leave a changed person in a good way. sorry for the rant youtube experts haha. i hate all of you idiots anyways, idk why i waste my breath, my keyboard warrior breathing fingers will roast you on the interwebs

      Base model 64 mustang.. They went classic before drifting and they're shooting up in value.. No need to kill the ones on the road to make it a collectible.

    • @preferreddrift6270
      @preferreddrift6270 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitch Hulleman what? No ones drifts a 64 mustang, also how old a car is doesn't make it a collectible, it depends on the year, how many were made, color, and importance. If their was 2 mil mustangs made in 64 but 500k made in 65, 65 is more collectible because their was a lot less. Do you know what drift tax is? And how the Nissan 240sx is sky rocking up on price because of it becoming a harder car to find?

    • @endlessroadie3131
      @endlessroadie3131 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Preferred Drift so something like a Cadillac from the 20's isn't a collectable? Ken block drifts a 64 tho. No I don't know what drift tax is. Yea but isn't the 240sx the poster child of modern day drifting? Maybe the ae86 actually but that this is so damn rare so yea. I was talking about the complete 64 model so not the specific year my bad should have made that clearer I guess

    • @preferreddrift6270
      @preferreddrift6270 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitch Hulleman yea but ken block is a professional, their is also a guy who drifts a v10 Dodge Viper, if one guy does it doesn't mean everyone has. Also yes a 1920 cad is a collectible because it's a caddie but if it was a shitty car it wouldn't be, also ken block has like 4 drift cars

      Mike McNamee even there. To fully build an engine it cost like 3-8k at the most. Then turbo/ecu/mounts/suspension not more than 10k

    • @164hozey
      @164hozey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @mcnameeman
      @mcnameeman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      T1GR3S13 that's not the point if you're a car guy or not the fact that he didn't state what kind of mods he had in the car we will never truly know the total value of mods he's added into the car, mods can vary in prices as well as maintaince and other costs to replace parts. Also I'm a car guy so people saying 50k worth of mods into a car sounds normal, plus you have to take into account that buying stuff in Canada isn't cheap like the U.S or Europe, the tax in Canada is expensive as hell.
