This is perfect. I did IT for years and while I knew what most of these terms are I couldn't describe them at all or explain effectively what they are for or do... I just knew. This has hindered me from getting back into IT b\c i stumble in interviews. laymen term explanations are much better for me as i was self taught and learned on the job...thanks for making these terms sound simple and less intimidating or difficult to explain.
My pleasure. The biggest mistake employer can make when interviewing an IT person is not presenting them with a problem to solve. That is the best way to gauge someone's knowledge. Instead, they ask generic questions and expect a detailed explanation of what they think the solution is. Meanwhile, you may answer the question with the first thing that comes to mind-which is also correct... but, they were expecting another answer. I wish you good luck in job search.
Many thanks for the videos you provide. They are all very useful for any aspect of working 1st line support. I have been in I.T support for 20+ years and still find you videos useful indeed. I just had my 2nd interview for a job in the UK and watched all your interview prep videos to prepare. Alas, the company didn't question my skills in I.T, they are only interested in my understanding of the Japanese language and Japanese business etiquette. All that preparation for nothing! But at least I could go into the interview with confidence that I'm up to date on current support role aspects rather than going blind into an interview and then getting stuck when they ask me technical questions (even though they didn't - I still had the knowledge prepared).
My pleasure. There are two main reasons for my videos. One is a refresher and second is confidence builder. Especially for the interview questions. You did everything proactively which is the key to success. I hope you get the job. Best of luck to you.
Great video, I am not taking any exam but luckily I got hired as a 1st/2nd line support technician. I never done this stuff before and this video has taught me quite a bit. Thank you for your videos!
Just had my interview and I would have not have had answers if it wasn't for this video! Thank you so much for making this and keeping the answers in interview format it helped a great deal
The videos you make are a tremendous resource! It covers everything someone needs to know for a help desk interview. I really appreciate how clear and helpful the explanations are. This is going to be a big help for anyone getting ready for their interview. Thanks for making such a great video!
#10 begin - with a bios firmware update, when troubleshooting a BSOD caused by software. 9\10 times this will resolve most issues. Excellent video, Thank you!
I stuck it through and watched the entire video. I have an interview tomorrow for a IT Service Desk position. Pay is between $22 and $25/hour which is good pay in my area.
Thanks for putting this together. I'm just getting back into the help desk job searching. One thing I was recently asked about the non-working monitor. The answer they were looking for included checking 'Inputs' in the monitor settings.. I did get it, but he had to hint.. Lol
Sure thing. If you've already mentioned checking the cables as the answers... that should have been understood as "inputs"... I don't know why- but interviewers can be really weird people. LOL
Nice job! Thank you for posting this. One of my biggest drawbacks while teaching some of the MS concepts was not having access to a dummy account for demo purposes. That was super frustrating. Anyway, thanks for showing what SharePoint and MS Admin Center look like and how they work!
Thank you very much for your video! I had my first interview today for IT service desk technician and I found some of your answers very helpful. Now I’m waiting to hear back from them👍
I actually got that job few months after😅 they have reached out to me on LinkedIn. There were more questions about myself and how do I handle stressful situations. Few questions about exchange online and Active Directory as well.
Thank you for creating the Quick Learn video on Helpdesk Support Engineer, it's incredibly insightful and beneficial. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
My interview is coming up tuesday, It's gonna be my first interview for an IT role. Been applying everywhere and finally got a word back. I just hope i nail the interview so i can get my foot into the door of IT.
Man I should try to get into IT. I grew up in the era when microcomputers were new. I understood the BSOD screen was caused by an IRQ interrupt error (Another hardware device on that system is using the same IRQ # as another component and there is nothing in place to handle the changing of IRQ's in this instance for some reason, so remove the hardware that was just installed, or change the IRQ if there is a way to manually change that number these days). I thought they solved that problem when they started making everything plug 'n play. All of us use this technology every day, we know alot more than we realize, almost everyone should be able to qualify for IT.
That's still the case with BSOD. Mostly hardware related but sometimes software can cause it as well. With your understanding I'm sure you can get in to IT. People tell me all the time that they were able to get IT jobs just by watching youtube videos.
My pleasure. Sure thing. That counts as knowledge. The worst thing that can happen is they ask you questions about it. Then you can tell them all about it; which is a big plus. My last video talks about that.
@@craigheard2504 You bet! I'm starting to get in to Azure again with MS365 videos. Today or tomorrow I will release a video starting to get in to that.
