How Fuel Efficient is a 125? | Yamaha R125

  • Been asked this question for soooooo long and never got round to doing it so here it is. How many miles can you get out of one tank of a 125 or in this specific case, the Yamaha R125. Also as I mentioned in the video, this is with normal riding or ragging, not trying to be fuel efficient or anything :)
    For those interested in a bit more detail, I got 273.6 miles, the Yamaha R125 tank is 13.8l which equates to 3.04 gallons which means an average fuel consumption rate of 90mpg. I reckon you could easily squeeze out over a 100 but I ride like an idiot a lot of the time :D
    Also as a quick note (if anyone is actually reading this far into the description), the reason the last video or two have just been quick ones is because I've currently been working on a big video which is taking a while to film, should be out some time this month but yeah a lot of time is going into filming for that...
    Thanks anyway guys, and as always ride safe.

    I owned a Matt Black 2012 YZF-R125 for about 4 years while I was learning to ride.
    Kept it for another two years even when I got my full license.
    The engine was bomb proof.
    I kept it outside throughout the winter (with a cover on it) and it would always start 1st time in the spring.
    I could easily get 120mpg out of it, which is why I'm looking at another one right now!
    The up front price is expensive, but as far as I'm concerned it's the only good looking economical sports bike that currently exists.

    Just calculated the usage on my r125 to 0.21liters per 10km/2.1liters per 100km! These bikes are damn fuel efficient!! But that was on pretty soft riding tho. Would use more if riding like a regular 16y.old

    I know i am really late asking this, but how much gas did the bike take to fill her up again? then we can calculate the actual fuel economy.

    On average get 30mpg on my EXC125 so I only get 75ish miles out of a 9.5L tank whereas my old WR125X used to get about 120 miles out of its 8.5L tank. It's interesting to see how much more your R125 gets considering it has the same engine as the WR, I guess it's from the better aerodynamics and probably mainly because I spent most of my time on the WR pinning the throttle and doing 70+.

    • @DanTheTwoWheeler
      @DanTheTwoWheeler  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the pinning it at 70 could be the reason, most the time on my commute I dont get above 50

    That's pretty good. All depends on power and weight. I managed to just scrape 320 out of my Worx 125 (10hp/130kg) but averaging about 270. Breaks my heart to only do 140 miles on my 650 now!

    I see people boasting about getting 300 km out of a 125cc, but is it really good enough when my own chinese Keeway Speed 125 can squeeze out 600 km from just 13 liter of fuel?
    But this was mostly just regular driving, I think my number will go up a little bit if I can keep a stable speed between 70 and 80 kmph non stop with little wind, something I will find out soon when I pack my stuff.
    It's gonna be a great experiment.

  • @stevebevan5104
    @stevebevan5104 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fill it to the brim and zero the trip counter
    Ride it til it's almost empty.
    Fill it to the brim again and record how many litres it takes to fill again. This is how much you've actually used
    Divide the litres into your miles and that will give miles per litre.
    Google the conversion loop

    It actually is 3.13L for 100km. Which is quite a lot (for this bike ofc.). If it has 13.8L Gas tank and you have filled it up full and have driven 273.6 miles that means 3.13 for 100km. But still it is good tho, i mean.. Really good.

      Hi mate, I have the 2016 model. This bike is great. My only complaint was the seating posture. Because your leaning forward you can feel it on your back after a good few miles. My mate had (now stolen) Yamaha MT-125 which had a much comfortable riding position because you’re sitting up. Check them both out. It’s all exciting to buy a bike because it looks nice but I’ve noticed people don’t do many miles on it. But a bike with a better seating position you’ll tend to find with more miles. That’s my prospective. Good luck finding a bike ✌🏽

    For the americans, that's basically 90mpg. You're welcome. That's pretty good, but a grom 125 or kawasaki z125pro beat it by around 30 or more mpg. z125pro has 2 gallon tank. grom only has 1.5 basically. So...weigh it. HOwever, keep in mind this guy DanTheTwoWheeler did NOT say anything aobut how consistently easy or harsh he drove this bike. Lead-footed it? Or grandpa'd it? So 90mpg isn't a clear number yet.
    HOWEVER, one thing , regardless of legalities, still stands. I see still some bikers that are hauling ass doing 90 mph and above on 60 and 70mph interstate highways AND trying to lanesplitt/cutting off other car and truck drivers when they are already doing at least the speed limit on those roads. THAT is asinine and will get a biker immediately pulled over by any cop in MS, U.S.A...as they should be. Lane splitting at those speeds is obviously stupid and dangerous.
