At least I'm not the only one still playing these ! Little tip for gate missions - you have to go right through the centre ! you can't hit into the sides of them or it won't give you 3 stars

@@noskalborg723 it's all about angles and snaking when you need to. That's the trick. Though it's very tight when you don't as seen in the video, he uses angles and tight turns instead. It's something this game shares with the best one in the series: wii. (Seriously go check out CTGP). The difference is snaking is useful here it's not there. I'm someone who rolls with TWD98, one of the best mario kart players out there, and trust me that is the secret. Lines, angles, powersliding, skill, and in MKDS, snaking. I may not play as much as I used to nor have I tried CTGP, but that is the trick to both games.
One more tip: in Boswer's Castle (the retro one), try avoid the rainbow jumps as much as you can. Some are necessary but the mast majority aren't. They slow you down and only give airtime which isn't useful in DS. Might be in the other titles after it for the trick boost it that's it. Have fun!

I already got 3 stars on all but 3 missions (years ago). But i damaged my DS Lite in the process. I came to this video to see if there was bonus content for getting 3 stars on every mission: i guess not.
Now i just fight the computers when I'm bored, 😆 block fort seige by bananas.
I don’t recommend snaking with anyone besides yoshi since he has the best standard by far in the game only do a power boost when there is a sharp turn and try to stay to the sides
Anyone else seriously struggle getting 3 stars on 1-8? It took me an hour and a half, and two walkthroughs, to finally get it. God it was annoying
I struggled so much for that one. Finally beat it today in 10 minutes after 2 hours the last 2 days.

Not really. I beat it pretty easily when I was younger. If you get behind someone in karts you go faster. 1-8 though is impossible

The requirements are jank af. I've cleared 6-5 faster than you did in the video, without hitting any gates, and still only got 2 stars. Some of these I swear there's requirements that aren't what you'd expect and I still can't tell what they are watching some of these

I have one question about mission 1-5:
WHAT THE FUCK?
I competed the level with a final time of 0:18:516, which is .016 milliseconds FASTER than the video, and I still got a 2 star ranking! What the fuck?
Afterwards, I got a time of 0:18:366, a quarter of a second SLOWER than my previous time, and I got 3 STARS. What the hell? What is the criteria that the game uses for star rankings?
