      I think he tells that story over and over because he's actually a relatively private person and I'm sure there were much deeper connections than just talking about baking bread... but those are for him. He doesn't need to tell everyone their most intimate conversations.

      @@ineffablemars I never actually considered this, but you must be right! There are some Beatles stories that were recounted countless times over the years, so it makes sense that there is a vaguely agreed 'official' version comprised of what people are willing to share. From time to time, some additionall info pops up in diffrent interviews, but we will never know the full story. Not only because Paul (in this instance) doesn't want to bare his soul to the world, but allso to protect the memory of the dead and the legacy of the band and its members. It's not a secret that all 4 of the band members kept some of each others secrets even during the major fuding in the 70s. And Paul acts almost as a chief public mourner for John, and no amount of regret or 'what if' thinking would keep that bond going for 43 years if they weren't really getting 'back on track' after the mess of the 70s. Paul serenades John with 'Here Today' still at his every major concertand just a few years ago protested gun violence in New York. And he seems the least interested in reconciling the myth of John with the flawed human being that he was. Yoko never submitted to the narrative of a grief stricken widow, and his sons have very complicated feelings (especially Julian).
      But anyway, I agree that even if they avoided some topics to keep the peace (like business) it probaby wasn't all pointless small talk about cats and bread. And frankly, we are not owed the intimate truth.

    • @11lululuv
      @11lululuv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Trevin Ellison I disagree. I think that the only reason George's death is less talked about by Paul and the world is because George's death was expected, and he died in a more peaceful manner. It has nothing to do with John doing more or being closer to Paul. Paul grew up with both George and John and considered them his best friends.

    • @ineffablemars
      @ineffablemars 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      John died tragically. He was assassinated. George had cancer for a while before his death, and he got to say goodbye to his friends and family.. it's no less sad, but he had a chance to be with his loved ones.

      Why is the Jackson collab a fav moment...? My fav moments were the Beatles era throughout. My dad died a few months ago and he made my listen to everything they did whilst growing up in the 80s. They are my fav band and always will be. They are the greatest songwriters of the 20th century and their popularity is still showing no signs of declining today. They wrote across most genres and the demographic mirrors this stunning talent. I thank my dad for educating me as to what is good music and what is not and I have played guitar for 30 yrs and have taught guitar also. Now I have quite extensive musical theory I can analyse their music and understand why their songs are so special. Their sense of melody is unsurpassed even by professional songwriters back then and now. To have three musical genius all in one band is just a fluke as all the stars lined up for them to break through...It's just a miracle that will never ever happen again such are the odds! We are so lucky to have their music now forever. My friend musicians have had kids and I tell them to expose their kids to high information music from the get go and give them the Beatles as they are growing up. This develops their ear and this is a wonderful gift for life.

    Loved the bit of his talking about how he and Lennon got to be close again before Lennon died, just talking about the kids and stuff, and his saying how he is grateful for it. I've never heard that bit before. "It's about the music"

    Imagine being Paul McCartney and having to constantly talk about accomplishments you did 50 years ago and friends who died tragically 30 years ago... almost every interviewer Ive seen asks him about his collaboration with John Lennon and why The Beatles broke up

    I always watch lovely interviews and such and then there are the comments, bitching away over this and that. Reminds me of how petty people can be. They could watch a 5 second vid of a celebrity waving hello and go mad over it

    Cracked me up! I hope I get the money and the chance to see Paul McCartney in concert. I have never been able to justify 200+ but I just read PM, The Life and I'm Pandora-ing the heck out of PM. I rejected him in Phoenix earlier this year so, maybe next year!

    Something very very rare is occuring in this video. If you look to the right of the couch you'll witness something you dont see everyday, something very very rare and unusual: Jeremy Clarkson with his mouth closed saying absolutely nothing at all throughout the interview with Paul. I was so stunned I had to lie down.🤣
