At least this supports band 20 which makes it more suitable for import to Europe compared to Chinese version of the x100 pro. That's one upgrade!
I have zero issues without band 20, I think this issue is not as big as people think

@@TedThomasTT Big difference in rural areas in the UK. Urban areas don't rely on band 20 as much so it depends on where you live and how much you travel. I notice a big difference when using different phones side by side and driving longer distances. Basically, it boils down to personal circumstances about where you live and whether you travel a lot and the network coverage in your area so it's hard to completely generalize. Still, much better to have it than not have it as at least you know you are covered regardless of where you live and travel to if you have it
why chinese version of x100 pro is better than the global one?
I'll be getting mine on june 1st, cant wait to compare it with my X7 Ultra

Looking forward to learning more about this phone after a month or two's worth of firmware updates. Vivo X100 Pro at its current state is incredibly well optimized and easily a top 3 phone for for photography at the time of this video.

X100 ultra runs orgin os wich you need to enable notifications per apps to work kinda great less distractions from apps
Once set up the notifications work fine unlike other Chinese UIs.
Really would love to see you compare the vivo x100 ultra to the Oppo find x7 ultra, especially after all the new updates and the 25mp mode. I know it's a lot of work but that would be a interesting comparison!

I suggest you use textured mode for nighttime photography to avoid overexposure.

Hey, why you show camera2 api only for main cam? Its standard to have camera2 api for main lens, but camera 2 api support on other lenses is the interesting part which you never show :(

I do love these phones but one thing is clear to me watching videos on them. I am so over curved screens. I am using a pixel 8 Pro and I just hope flat screens are here to stay now.

This will be interesting to watch how vivo will upgrade the Ultra model. The Pro model is already hugely impressive and one of the best camera phones out there. I have no doubt that, after some updates, the Ultra will do better overall

Hey Chris, a question, as you covered the X90 pro plus too. Is the X100 Ultra a huge upgrade compared to that or not? I was planning to import the X100 ultra, but the X90 pro plus is discounted on Trading Shenzhen and would save me 300€
yes, i had it and would upgrade just for the battery upgrade whic gives extra 2 hours of screentime in a day but both still have the same problem , crazy battery drain on idle with sleep optimization off.
ultra wide is the same, main is just slightly better but zoom camera is day and night difference especially in lower light
better speakers but downgraded fingerprint sensor
i like i can set the charging to slow now without having to use a 3rd party charger

Amazing phones, vivo really does push envelope in mobile photography. My main issue though apart from their lack of availability in Europe (and it's the same issue i have with my Oneplus 12) is the form factor. These designs need to change, as the outdated curved display with asymmetric bezels gives a poor viewing experience and is just straight impractical at times. They need to move to flat displays with symmetrical bezels as soon as possible. Also the sheer size of these devices is ridiculous. Why all the ex BBK companies like oneplus/oppo/vivo/realme etc etc just refuse to make any flagship phone smaller than 6.7/6.8 inches is just baffling to me. They seem to be unaware as to why all the other mainstream and best selling manufacturers like apple/google/samsung/xiaomi etc have moved to a model where they sell a reasonably sized version of their flagship/pro models especially in the European and US markets.

@@TedThomasTT Does your pro model shoot 4K log videos? Does your pro model shoot 4K 120FPS? Does your Pro model have the same colour scheme on all zoom lenses when taking videos?
If No then it's worth spending the extra bulks on the Ultra because all these are just a few features the Ultra has that the Pro doesn't. Ultra just came out and I bet that it will get better than the Pro model.

I believe a gimbal on the telephoto cam would've been far more effective, the telephoto is the one sensor most people have trouble stabilizing and since VIvo is wanting you to zoom in further than the native zoom range, if software fails there's not much to fall back on. Gimbal would've fixed it imo.
telephoto has best in class stabilization, look on comparison videos, is the most stable

telephoto is the peak of engineering with both clarity and stabilization, its CIPA 4.5 certified

@@kaiserfakinaway5909 gimbal is good for vide angle shots because it has range of movement, but at high zoom levels you need to stabilize micro movement, which means that stabilization needs to be super fast, thus it doesn't need gimbal stabilization and instead needs to predict movement better, not to mention you need much larger enclouser for gimbal cam, not mentioning is it even posible to put gimbal stabilization on periscope style cameras

Different ISP's and different sensors all around.. maybe vivo took on a bit much, especially this close to the release of the x200 later this year? The x100 ultra was surely delayed more than they wanted

You should focus more on the new zoom camera, that's the reason why the Ultra exists.

If you want a better user experience (software, display, etc) go for the Oneplus. If you want a better camera, Vivo.

Only problem I face with my x100pro is battery inconsistency.
- Sometimes it gives 6hr SoT, sometimes 4hr SoT, sometimes 9hr
And funtouch OS is not that mature to use. [ its boring ]

Im glad Vivo implemented a QHD on the Ultra, unlike the X100 Pro. A must for any flagship device
that's not a must. A must is a top tier chip, great battery life, good display quality (high brightness OLED that is well calibrated) and great cameras. The X100 Pro provides these and more.

Good smartphone, but released too late, and above all, it is not really better than the Vivo X100 Pro or the Oppo Find X7 Ultra which currently cost less than it, without even mentioning the fact that smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be released in 3 months at most.
Ps: without forgetting that we went from an X90 Pro+ which managed to maintain more than 95% performance in stress tests and gaming, to this series of Vivo X100 which barely maintains 60% performance, losing in the process the super 3D Sonic fingerprint sensor from Qualcomm 😮💨
A phone with no flat screen, is a phone I won't even consider.

you forgot to mention speakers are better on ultra, fingerprint sensor is better than pro but a downgrade compared to x90 pro+
Speakers you barely hear it’s much better not a massive difference. Fingerprint scanner is better and better front selfie camera.
@@Techtablets it would be nice to post some accubattery stats after using it for a few days NORMALLY , i got x90 pro+ and battery is decent but not great, it has crazy idle train, 8-9% during night.

In terms of camera performance, I don't think the ultra is going to defeat it's younger sibling X100Pro. Maybe in some other department it could be better like display "marginally" battery backup.

Even with updates it won't solve it but even if I do I don't like the colors in the X100U's photos at night they are noisy and saturated even during the day the zoom isn't the best either but in a few months there will be HDR problems that's why my xiaomi 14U is better

@@Giorgiio69 the vivo and oppo are not good for taking photos but the vivo is one of the worst rubbish HDR and colors with saturation where the X100U has but the updates won't solve it even the X100 pro sometimes has HDR problems I love my Xiaomi 14 ultra because the Leica colors are beautiful, I love them
