Okay I have a pretty weird question, the Synchro detent keys for 1st through 4th are a different size than the 5th & Reverse. I can't for the life of me find these derned keys should I just shave one of the other ones down to fit the 5th& Rev Slider key ways?
I have this transmission and it will not go into 5th and it grinds and pops out of reverse like it's not fully engaged. I removed the top of the transmission and tried to move the lever that the reverse, 5th linkage controls, it will not budge when you move it backwards into 5th any ideas on what might be the cause?
@@davidpatience4682 I removed the shifting forks assembly from the top of the transmission and I am trying to move the mechanism inside the transmission it will only move in one direction. I'm thinking I need another transmission or watch this video on the big screen hope that I don't loose any parts and find whatever I need to repair it. P..S. Thanks for posting this for the few people left crazy enough to consider tearing apart a transmission on a picnic table.
I believe the shifter-bushings are too short. Started that I couldn't engage 1st. Then Reverse, and then 2nd, started grinding when you tried to engage them, even while gently dragging the clutch. I replaced the too-short bushings. Worked briefly, except couldn't engage Reverse. Now the shift-lever has totally flopped, and I only have 2nd gear.😢
1:34 are your gears still alive damn
Use pipe wrench gently on that nut without marking it and it will come off easily

Likely an issue with the 5R shift fork. There was a tsb for updated 5R components on some of these years ago.

@@jimstrict-998 I fixed it, it was the fifth and reverse slider gear, did it without removing the transmission.
