This is the best Star Wars channel I have seen. I have no fear that a Poe and Rey relationship will happen. It would be such a weak story considering you have to bring Kylo out of the darkness realistically. Finn has been friendzoned which was the right thing to do but if you can imagine Kylo sitting down with a therapist after the trilogy and explaining everything that went down; I can't imagine that the joy of a new friend being the reason or a long lost cousin. He's going to fall in love just like his father and grandfather.
Man Born I love your reasoning! I’ve been thinking similarly as well. Disney might as well go big or go home. Friendship is powerful, but I believe that in order to make this trilogy a timeless classic, they will have to go a little deeper than that, they’ll have to make the story more raw and emotional.
This is also my opinion. When the family didn't help Ben to come "home", how friendship could? Only a romantic deep love can do miracles. Letting Rey be in love with Poe and letting Kylo be her relative would be cheap. Letting Rey and Kylo fall for each other would make this story BIG.
Also, about the whole fear of Poe and Rey, I remember Mark Hamill saying to Rian about something in TLJ “oh no the fans won’t like that.” And then Rian said something about “well we’re going to make the movie we want to make.” So I think Lucasfilms and the crew will go with the story they originally wanted, backlash be damned. You guys are right: this is Star Wars, it’s not going anywhere 😊
I think their couple relationship is what’s going to be moved along by whatever the plot might be. The way he has looked at her from the start in TFA in like every scene they are in together is like “she is mine” so I think his romantic feelings for her will be further along than Rey’s feelings for him. She’s seen him do a terrible thing and it’s going to take time or a grand gesture on his part to change her feelings. I’ve read somewhere that they get to spend quite a bit of time together in this movie. I can’t wait for that. I’d love a kiss...it could happen...but if they can’t get there in this movie, it will be the next. In the meantime, I’ll be happy with lots of romantic drama between them. Cheers ladies. Another great discussion! Adam Driver is a fantastic actor, I love him. I never saw Kylo as totally evil. I could see he was struggling from the start, so I completely saw it the way Adam was portraying it. I'm certain of two things. 1. Kylo is returning to the light and 2. He will develop feelings for Rey.

Great videos! This was one of my favorites. I have almost no doubt that Reylo will happen, I just worry that it won't be as clear as I want it to be in The Last Jedi.

Luke does some OP force powers and makes it to the next film (Since Ms. Fisher is no longer with us) Poe goes a bit rouge and dabbles in extermist activty ala Saw Gerrera Finn and Rose hit it off and survive the movie. Rey is still Rey and people find more ways to complain about her marysueness Oh and who can forget...REYYYYYYLOOOOOOOOO!!!! But what if Rey's real name is Kirah? What will the ship name be? Berah? Kien? Benrah? Kiren?

I have had to wait for 40 years for a book to have several of my questions answered, "From A Certain Point of View"! I love the mystery & the vagueness. Life is mysterious & vague. We seldom get to see the full picture. Why shouldn't Star Wars reflect that? Plus no one needs to tie anything up in this movie. When you were talking about Snoke not noticing about how Kylo doesn't really hate Rey but kind of admires her power, it reminded me something very similar, kind of the same dinamic in Harry Potter. You know, Voldemort's worst mistake was how he didn't get the love that Snape had for Lily, and that love was the thing that got Snape to join Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix. Maybe it's something very similar, based on the torture scene...

Cole 999 **** spoiler warning*** I believe the reylo plot since TFA and actually enjoyed the late night Force Skype between her in kylo LOL but will they not be disappointed? it feels like they gave so much reylo comfirmation throughout the movie and then took it mostly away at the end. With kylo Ren ordering Reys ship be destroyed with no thought then vowing to find her and kill her. Yes it gave a tad bit of hope when they was still seeing eachother without the manipulation of snoke but then but then again it left it up for interpretation Especially at the end with the, 'hi I'm Rey". oh I know I'm Poe. Proceed 2 Googly eyeing and smile. It looks like another 2 years old will reylo really happen or not but now it looks like the poe and Rey shippers can actually have a little bit of Hope unfortunately. I love your channel❤️ I just have one wish that I really want to come true, I would really love to see Rey and Kylo team up and fight. We have already seen little clues to suggest that this might happen so I am pretty excited. If this does happen I want them to at least hug or something after they finish the fight! I’m super worried that Rey and Kylo are related. I saw somewhere that Rian Johnson went with who JJ Abrams wanted to be Rey’s parents and he said something like, “it doesn’t mean that a lot of thought didn’t go into this.” And that paired with Daisy’s comment that she thought that her parents were obvious has me really scared that Luke is her father. I will be so mad if she’s a Skywalker. And the idea that this big connection that Rey and Kylo has is a result of them being cousins, will be really dumb and anticlimactic.

First off I really enjoy yours podcast I was put on to it randomly 3 weeks ago and just devoured all of y'all's content within a few days at work. But I feel fairly certain that kylo Ren is going to reach out to Ray and turn away from snoke butt the scene of him in the trailer is a different scene then Ray's reaction. It was cut to make you think they're together and I'm not saying they won't be but the scene they showed isn't her reaction There's a promo trailer that proves that. Which actually makes me glad they didn't give away that scene in continuity so at least it'll be a little different
Taiwan version of the trailer has titles and the "Raw power quote" has a "You element" in the female release , so it's technically proved that it's Rey who is Snoke talking to. (But it can be just a bad translation to titles)
I think Rey does come from the the dark side, maybe even has imperial roots. Considering visual storytelling - when we first see Kylo, he is coming out from a bright, floodlit ship into the darkness of the night. When we are introduced to Rey, she has this cloth mask and googles made from stormtrooper "shades", and she comes out of the ruined, dark star destroyer into the light of the day. That looks very symbolic imo.

I just recently stumbled across this whole Reylo ship and I really like your videos and the idea of them having some kind of romance. Those theories are really interesting and (at least for me) improve this new trilogy since I liked the tfa alright but wasn’t too impressed by it. While I think all those analysis sound really promising, I’m a bit cautious about it and try not to get my hopes up too much (probably because some of it reminds me of all those Sherlock/John theories a year ago which turned out to be wrong and overanalyzing the possible clues), but luckily the next movie is right around the corner and will hopefully reveal whether there really is a possibility for Reylo. I’m crossing my fingers that you are right!
i don't think so, poe rey would be ugg for me ,but i think personally that LF have push Reylo in the marketing so so much,how would they take that back and take back the reylo chemistry in the F.A ? even if general audiences don't accept it

About Jakku... in the book Aftermath there is an information that 1000 years BBY some great disaster turned this green planet into a desert. In the new canon the sith order starting from Darth Bane is 1000 years old (this info comes from leaked vidual dictionary for TLJ). The Jakku's calamity reminds me of the old republic empreror -Darth Vitiate- who drained an entire planet's -Nathema- forcefield and turned that planet into a one huge graveyard. Palpatine said in that book that something very important happened on Jakku and will happen in the future, so he had some secret laboratories there. I think that place is connected to Snoke somehow. Jakku is like paradise lost and Snoke himself - as Abrams said - like the fallen angel...
about Hux i think in the trailer we are seeing him in the 3rd act. he is in the thrown room i suspect when Rey enters .. not sure if he makes it out but looks like he is in the 3rd act.
I downloaded the free trial of youtube red so I could watch this on a plane ride to New York haha And we arrive back home the day before The Last Jedi comes out! My way out idea? : I think Snoke's end game has always been Rey. I think Snoke used Kylo to get to Rey because of their connection (that their connection is an old one). Snoke saw her in Kylo's mind once while he was preying on him and corrupted Kylo further with the intention to get to her one day knowing destiny would have them cross paths one day and Snoke could then make his move...
just wanted to point out, i see similarities between the roles of Kylo an Hux in the First Order and the role of Prince Valorum and General Darth Vader of the original story treatment of The Star Wars. there’s a comic book series made from lucas’ original story you guys should check out!
I think the best direction that Reylo can take is the way the dark side ending of Knights of the Old Republic took....now I know that the pre-Disney LucasArts declared that canonically the Light side ending was the proper one but none of that matters anymore since ALL things related to KotOR are no longer canon in any capacity and if it gets adopted in any way it will be through remakes or callbacks to certain events from there. But yeah....the best way this can go is Snoke turns Rey to the dark side, sends her to kill Kylo, but they instead end up joining forces and taking control of the galaxy.
*NO SPOILERS* I live in France (an American study abroad student) and Star Wars released yesterday.. unfortunately for me... In French... and though I did not understand as much dialog as I would have hoped. I can say... WOW. The new song by Ed Sheehan "perfect" listen to it right before watching this film cause its very fitting.
Star Wars Connection my daughter and I will be in London end of the month. We'll be rewatching in English there. France is very proud of their language so it is very difficult to find any major blockbuster movies in English... and certainly not in the small city I live in. Btw I love this channel. I'm a criminology/sociology major and so I look at these movies through the lens of "cause and effect"... why do this person, these people, or this situation happen. I'm particularly fond of Kylo Ren and find some very interesting results of a past I'm all to familiar with myself and find I understand his motivations pretty well actually. To me he's very relatable in terms of someone whose been: 1) willfully abandoned by his parents for their jobs... 2) been lied to about his heritage 3) been forced ( through Jedi training to suppress his feelings of abandonment, anger, and resentment) never a good idea... we see this kind of situation in American culture far too much with that results being hyper aggressive emotionally stunted men... 4) and Kylo has been manipulated... preyed on by a predator in Snoke... Of course he's a mess... seriously more people can relate to at least one of those situations... than not... Anyway I enjoy the channel and would love to chat more... cause this stuff is fascinating for me.
I think Kylo does put his hand out, but to collect his lightsaber back from Rey not for Rey take his hand .-. Btw. How cool would it be if Rey was Ben's padawan at first at the Jedi Temple and that's how they have a force bond together cos Padawans and their masters usually have force bonds too. Maybe Ben was the one that sent Rey to Jakku and then erased her memory, then destroying the temple cos he didn't have the heart to kill his own padawan. But idkkk :/ cos Padawans don't usually start off so young from 5-9 before she was sent off. Either Padawan or just student?
I got to see the movie and well.... I liked it in some ways, but for the most part I didn't like it. I'm interested to see what you girls have to say about it all.
I was really disappointed by it. The execution of certain things and many of the plot points really killed it for me, and not in a good way. IDK about anyone else but I'm not even looking forward to IX at this point.
Rey of Jakku I agree and so do most of my friends who are die hard Star Wars fans. It's a good movie and well done in some ways, just not what I expected. For me as you said, the plot points really ruined it.
Guys, go watch it again. We've been obsessing about this movie for years - of course it was bound to not live up to some expectations. But damn it's a Star Wars movie - how bad can it be? XD
I thnk Reylo will be very subtle and the romantic drama will be between Fill and Rose.... Unfortunately.....but I love the fact that a asien and a black person fall in love. For one there is no white person involved!
I disagree with the comment that the identity of Rey's parents does not matter. Rey's identity was a question that was loomed over us during the entirety off The Force Awakens. Not only do you have the context of Star Wars being about family when you talk about an existing force user, but there was the fact the she was better than everyone at everything during the movie. Without a reasonable explanation, this will make Rey a text book Mary Sue (and cheapens the story, imo).
Unless they are setting it up for another twist, it looks like the new movie has confirmed my concern about her identity or origins. (My original theory was/ is that she was actually born of the force like Anakin).

I think what the marketing dep. is trying to do, is to capitalise on Reylo to sell tickets. i think its just a smart edit to get the reylo fandom intrested even more. they play up to other fractions of the SW fandom as well - so everydoby gets something they like... everyone is intrested and happy. handom fractions get into fight on who is right - ppl are talking, the hype is sustained. and $$$$$$$$$$ are flowing. smart promo team.

I am of the same opinion as mary, that we won't get a kiss or anything like that, but whatever happens in this movie, let's just enjoy it as much as we can, because IT'S STAR WARS! When you were talking about Snoke not noticing about how Kylo doesn't really hate Rey but kind of admires her power, it reminded me something very similar, kind of the same dinamic in Harry Potter. You know, Voldemort's worst mistake was how he didn't get the love that Snape had for Lily, and that love was the thing that got Snape to join Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix. Maybe it's something very similar, based on the torture scene...

I believe the reylo plot since TFA and actually enjoyed the late night Force Skype between her in kylo LOL but will they not be disappointed? it feels like they gave so much reylo comfirmation throughout the movie and then took it mostly away at the end. With kylo Ren ordering Reys ship be destroyed with no thought then vowing to find her and kill her. Yes it gave a tad bit of hope when they was still seeing eachother without the manipulation of snoke but then but then again it left it up for interpretation Especially at the end with the, 'hi I'm Rey". oh I know I'm Poe. Proceed 2 Googly eyeing and smile. It looks like another 2 years old will reylo really happen or not but now it looks like the poe and Rey shippers can actually have a little bit of Hope unfortunately. On a random thought I guess it really wasn't important where snoke came from lmao he was a prick anyway

We have already seen little clues to suggest that this might happen so I am pretty excited. If this does happen I want them to at least hug or something after they finish the fight! I’m super worried that Rey and Kylo are related. I saw somewhere that Rian Johnson went with who JJ Abrams wanted to be Rey’s parents and he said something like, “it doesn’t mean that a lot of thought didn’t go into this.” And that paired with Daisy’s comment that she thought that her parents were obvious has me really scared that Luke is her father. I will be so mad if she’s a Skywalker. And the idea that this big connection that Rey and Kylo has is a result of them being cousins, will be really dumb and anticlimactic.

First off I really enjoy yours podcast I was put on to it randomly 3 weeks ago and just devoured all of y'all's content within a few days at work. But I feel fairly certain that kylo Ren is going to reach out to Ray and turn away from snoke butt the scene of him in the trailer is a different scene then Ray's reaction. It was cut to make you think they're together and I'm not saying they won't be but the scene they showed isn't her reaction There's a promo trailer that proves that. Which actually makes me glad they didn't give away that scene in continuity so at least it'll be a little different

Taiwan version of the trailer has titles and the "Raw power quote" has a "You element" in the female release , so it's technically proved that it's Rey who is Snoke talking to. (But it can be just a bad translation to titles)
I think Rey does come from the the dark side, maybe even has imperial roots. Considering visual storytelling - when we first see Kylo, he is coming out from a bright, floodlit ship into the darkness of the night. When we are introduced to Rey, she has this cloth mask and googles made from stormtrooper "shades", and she comes out of the ruined, dark star destroyer into the light of the day. That looks very symbolic imo.

I just recently stumbled across this whole Reylo ship and I really like your videos and the idea of them having some kind of romance. Those theories are really interesting and (at least for me) improve this new trilogy since I liked the tfa alright but wasn’t too impressed by it. While I think all those analysis sound really promising, I’m a bit cautious about it and try not to get my hopes up too much (probably because some of it reminds me of all those Sherlock/John theories a year ago which turned out to be wrong and overanalyzing the possible clues), but luckily the next movie is right around the corner and will hopefully reveal whether there really is a possibility for Reylo. I’m crossing my fingers that you are right!

About Jakku... in the book Aftermath there is an information that 1000 years BBY some great disaster turned this green planet into a desert. In the new canon the sith order starting from Darth Bane is 1000 years old (this info comes from leaked vidual dictionary for TLJ). The Jakku's calamity reminds me of the old republic empreror -Darth Vitiate- who drained an entire planet's -Nathema- forcefield and turned that planet into a one huge graveyard. Palpatine said in that book that something very important happened on Jakku and will happen in the future, so he had some secret laboratories there. I think that place is connected to Snoke somehow. Jakku is like paradise lost and Snoke himself - as Abrams said - like the fallen angel...
about Hux i think in the trailer we are seeing him in the 3rd act. he is in the thrown room i suspect when Rey enters .. not sure if he makes it out but looks like he is in the 3rd act.
maybe the reason JJ retracted the statement of Rey's Parents is not in episode 7, Is because Obi Wan Kenobi's had a line in the movie?

My way out idea? : I think Snoke's end game has always been Rey. I think Snoke used Kylo to get to Rey because of their connection (that their connection is an old one). Snoke saw her in Kylo's mind once while he was preying on him and corrupted Kylo further with the intention to get to her one day knowing destiny would have them cross paths one day and Snoke could then make his move...
just wanted to point out, i see similarities between the roles of Kylo an Hux in the First Order and the role of Prince Valorum and General Darth Vader of the original story treatment of The Star Wars. there’s a comic book series made from lucas’ original story you guys should check out!

I think the best direction that Reylo can take is the way the dark side ending of Knights of the Old Republic took....now I know that the pre-Disney LucasArts declared that canonically the Light side ending was the proper one but none of that matters anymore since ALL things related to KotOR are no longer canon in any capacity and if it gets adopted in any way it will be through remakes or callbacks to certain events from there. But yeah....the best way this can go is Snoke turns Rey to the dark side, sends her to kill Kylo, but they instead end up joining forces and taking control of the galaxy.

Star Wars Connection my daughter and I will be in London end of the month. We'll be rewatching in English there. France is very proud of their language so it is very difficult to find any major blockbuster movies in English... and certainly not in the small city I live in.
Btw I love this channel. I'm a criminology/sociology major and so I look at these movies through the lens of "cause and effect"... why do this person, these people, or this situation happen.
I'm particularly fond of Kylo Ren and find some very interesting results of a past I'm all to familiar with myself and find I understand his motivations pretty well actually. To me he's very relatable in terms of someone whose been:
1) willfully abandoned by his parents for their jobs...
2) been lied to about his heritage
3) been forced ( through Jedi training to suppress his feelings of abandonment, anger, and resentment) never a good idea... we see this kind of situation in American culture far too much with that results being hyper aggressive emotionally stunted men...
4) and Kylo has been manipulated... preyed on by a predator in Snoke...
Of course he's a mess... seriously more people can relate to at least one of those situations... than not...
Anyway I enjoy the channel and would love to chat more... cause this stuff is fascinating for me.

I was really disappointed by it. The execution of certain things and many of the plot points really killed it for me, and not in a good way. IDK about anyone else but I'm not even looking forward to IX at this point.
Rey of Jakku I agree and so do most of my friends who are die hard Star Wars fans. It's a good movie and well done in some ways, just not what I expected. For me as you said, the plot points really ruined it.

I disagree with the comment that the identity of Rey's parents does not matter. Rey's identity was a question that was loomed over us during the entirety off The Force Awakens. Not only do you have the context of Star Wars being about family when you talk about an existing force user, but there was the fact the she was better than everyone at everything during the movie. Without a reasonable explanation, this will make Rey a text book Mary Sue (and cheapens the story, imo).
Some of us agree with your comment, Lord Markov. This is one of those polarizing topics that can be debated for days on end - and we have, lol.
Unless they are setting it up for another twist, it looks like the new movie has confirmed my concern about her identity or origins. (My original theory was/ is that she was actually born of the force like Anakin).

it would be funny if kylo extends his hand to finn/luke/lea or someone other than Rey. I think what the marketing dep. is trying to do, is to capitalise on Reylo to sell tickets. i think its just a smart edit to get the reylo fandom intrested even more. they play up to other fractions of the SW fandom as well - so everydoby gets something they like... everyone is intrested and happy. handom fractions get into fight on who is right - ppl are talking, the hype is sustained. and $$$$$$$$$$ are flowing. smart promo team.
