    Morrowind and Oblivion have very fun magic systems. Glad to see someone taking it to the extreme in oblivion.

    Ever since I started seriously getting into magic in oblivion, I noticed how crazy it can get and that you can circumvent a lot of mechanics in the game and use mechanics to keep my magic pool and magic regeneration very high. Fortifying acrobatics and speed with multiple different spells is extremely useful everywhere in the game, especially oblivion gate so I can skip over having to go inside those caves and go straight to the sigil keep. I fell even more in love with oblivion after that, and after discovering what magic weakness stacking is. All of this makes a mage character way more fun than a warrior or stealth archer imo. I can also keep certain quest items instead of losing them, like the jakben springheel boots by casting a fortify acrobatics spell to survive that long fall.

    Love how the community at large for Oblivion and Skyrim constantly downplay the power of magic while mage players just... know better. You don't even need to exploit loops/exploits, just use everything as intended but don't just spam the most basic spell over and over.

    • @Applemangh
      @Applemangh หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      To be fair, Skyrim doesn't allow for a lot of the things that make mage builds so powerful and versatile.

    My one issue with calling this effortless is that you need 100 restoration and maxed gear

    • @theoldknight85
      @theoldknight85  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d be almost this powerful with 3 items and 100 restoration. But I get your point, lol. The only somewhat difficult pieces to obtain are the +50 magicka sigil stones. If you save cheese, they are easy, but you really don’t need them, they just allow for more insanity like speed boosts and fortify luck that I don’t really need added

    "farwil's just wrecking face, i should probably just let him kill everything" is a pretty funny sentence to hear immediately after watching the marauder vs clannfear video
    ... but yeah i absolutely love how playing a high-level mage makes the game look like it's being fast-forwarded. i've done a lot of research into mage powergaming a few years ago myself, and reached effectively the peak power level of being able to kill anything instantly by abusing the apprentice sign's weakness to magicka and copious amounts of fortifications. being able to chain-cast a 650 magicka destruction spell is really beautiful. honestly i'd love to spam about it somewhere but idk where would be a good place

    • @theoldknight85

      😂 Farwil is level 40 in this video, many of those daedra don’t scale with my level. Just the xivilai and dremora, and dremora are NPCs just like farwil with the same limitations

    Whoa. Its almost a carbon copy of my min/maxxed breton when the game was new. I plotted all my level ups for stats. Wore ebony armor. Escutcheon of Chorrol, blade turn hood, umbra. Basically answering why not both to warrior or mage, while everything in character creation was to support magic. This was on console and I was around level 45 with 500 hours. Super powerful build but not quite effortless

    honestly the only reason I bothered to do efficient leveling was just so my attributes would be nice round numbers in the menu. obviously the big leveling issue with oblivion that people tear their hair out over isn't actually as big a deal when you have good endgame gear. I guess that's really the barrier to entry, getting the right sigil stones or artifacts.

      @@killermustache5043 Maxing stats in Oblivion is too tedious, but some ppl love that kinda thing. In my last playthrough i cheated a lot. I just couldn't be bothered maxing stats and spaming cheap spells to grind the skills.

    • @infinitedeath1384
      @infinitedeath1384 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Honestly only 3 attributes are really that important. That is endurance, intelligence and willpower. Strength at 100 is only a 25% buff, which is really small and not worth doing, especially since mages are way better than other builds. Agility doesn't affect how often you get staggered, no difference between 0-100. Personality and luck can be fortified with spells for when you need to have a high disposition or if you want better loot to spawn when you enter a dungeon. Speed can also be fortified as seen in the video so it's also not that important. 100 intelligence, endurance and willpower is all you need for a powerful character. The skills themselves give larger benefits than attributes. For example, blade from 25 to 100 gives you a much larger damage boost than strength from 25 to 100.

  • @ToliG123

    That mana regen is definitely cracked. Willpowers recovery is % based too right?

    • @theoldknight85
      @theoldknight85  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It adds 0.02% per point of willpower, so 100 Willpower gives you 2% of your max magicka per second

  • @MagicSteel1
    @MagicSteel1 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Drain HP +Weakness to Magicka 1/2/3 combo would have been more economic. Block, then touch to make sure it does hit what you want to hit. Summon spells for enemies with magicka resistance/ref/absorb. In any case, I wouldn't call it effortless power. This requires a lot of prep following mage quest and actually understanding how game works.

  • @TheViolinAndMore

      Yes - you're thinking of spell effectiveness, which reduces the power of your spells based on how high your armor skills are. The max if you wear any armor is 95%, if you're not wearing armor it's 100%

    • @queckquack6298
      @queckquack6298 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ my other question is.. levelling in oblivion is so ass. You increase major skills and suddenly the rest of the game is super fucking tanky, takes ages to kill. How would you get around this, without mods or holding back from levelling ?

    • @indorilnerevar5265

    • @MagicSteel1
      @MagicSteel1 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BlinJe Have you tried efficient leveling? It's actually really fun if you have creativity to do your training simultaneously as you play normally. It's like having extra challenge for everything you do, but you get to decide how they work out.
      Summoning spells do help a lot in lower lv too.
      BTW, not wearing armors make you a lot faster and you will find it easier to avoid getting hit. Try spinning around your enemy as you score free hits.
