The most important thing this channel has taught me is how to have fun in this game again by rejecting efficient levelling. That, and how to get the most out of mechanics within the game. On the other hand, I'm building a Bosmer bard that focuses almost entirely on Personality, so maybe I haven't learned that much.
Or you can damage your willpower/endurance/agility until you only have 1 fatigue left, then make a spell with 100 fortify fatigue, and you will do 50x the damage you previously did
@@dazubel You’re both valid but both perspectives appeal to different people. Some people like a game to function without having to think that hard about the systems and some people like to take a game over their knee and snap its balance in half by manipulating the systems
Looking forward to this! IMO: Bow damage should have scaled off of Strength just like the other weapons. It takes some serious strength to repeatedly fire a bow.
Without knowing anything about this games mechanics, I stumbled into an alchemist archer build that's been tearing things up with ease. One or two shots with a poison arrow, then I just run away until they collapse. It doesn't feel metagamey at all either, it all makes sense for a wood elf combat strategy.
Cool build, looks really fun to play, i never thought of just using destruction instead of blade or blunt that actually looks a lot more fun and probably more powerful. Suits an elf character too bow and magic, i might make this build with a dunmer even though ill be slower.
I found your channel recently and have started a new playthrough and have been thinking a lot about the game’s balance. I think Bretons should have resisted ALL forms of magic including positive effects, and that Altmer should’ve had a flat (50%? 100%?) weakness to magic that made buffs / positive effects stronger as well. Idk it seems like that would make the choice more interesting
@ It is but it’d be offset by the fact that the Altmer would take a lot more magic damage. Bretons would have their role as battlemage more clearly defined while Altmer are now glass cannons. I’d cap elemental resist at 85% and 100% magic resist would also resist all positive effects, so a mage can’t just crank it to the top, you’d have to be strategic
At 2:00 you say "if you pick two agility skills, never pick the third agility skill", why? Is it something to do with getting more attribute points when you level up?
I don't efficiently level, but I do try to smart level. If I picked security as well I would have no minor skill whatsoever tied to agility. That means if I leveled any major skill other than those 3, I would never be able to get +5 to agility. I'll have plenty of levels where I don't get +5 to it, and that is ok, but I don't want to make agility THAT difficult to level as an archer. Many archers start as a bosmer with the thief sign and agility as a favored attribute, meaning they start at 65 agi. I'm only starting at 40, so I have a ways to go before I get to 100. Security is kinda the perfect off skill as a minor because it isn't super helpful as a major skill in itself, but starting at 10 I'll be able to naturally raise it up as I play and get decent agility bonuses.
Hey man, just found you channel and Im loving it! Quick question, do you use any mods or are you completely vanilla? Thinking of playing oblivion on my steam deck soon and wondering if I need any mods for the game to play nice?
@@LostIzaa115 my paladin build is a pretty fun warrior build. These days if making that id have dropped illusion or athletics or something for destruction and I’d have dropped the warrior sign for mage. I’d still use heavy armor, blade, armorer as majors (and block as a minor that I frequently use) with a combat spec and focus on getting those to 100 with +blade enchants early-mid game, just supplement that more with magic than I used to.

Hi, its a weird question but is Oblivion's worth playing? I've been watching some of your vids and appreciate it and I really wanted some Sword and Sorcery type of adventure. However, as an adult, I tried playing Skyrim, a game that I liked as kid (and never finished actually). The way I am today toward games is that I seek interesting design. I've been playing a lot of CK2 these days and I still play since 2015 Fallout 2, at least two full playthrough a year. I love the variety of builds, complexity, and stuff to do. Simply put, the only game that scratch me that itch was Age of Decadence and Im waiting for a more stable Colony Ship. Where I am getting at with this post, is that will I be getting something I seek in Oblivion or even Morrowind? I skeemed the wiki, played the Elder Kings for Crusader Kings 2. I love the lore and all, but Im afraid that Oblivion's atmosphere will be lacking. Is it sill worth it? I love action RPG too, Deus Ex 1 and VTMB are games I love to play. Im not just sticking with turn based stuff lol.
Morrowind and Oblivion are both incredible games and I recommend them both. I personally prefer the setting, style, and systems in Oblivion, but I think Morrowind is the more typical favorite of people who like in-depth RPG's. They both have plenty of weak points, but they are absolutely worth your time. I believe they are cheap on steam as well, they often go on sale.
I bought both games, I'll try both at some point but I'll follow your advice ;) If setting up Morrowind is too much for me I'll just play Oblivion with a fan patch and have fun lol

Sounds kind of unfair that one magic focused race can cast a spell on themselves and have it provide 4x the benefit as another
