Yes, I usually keep one barn and one coop with animals, so I have regular income all year long. Pigs make up for not working in winter by being very profitable spring to fall, but with a few cheesemakers and mayonaisemakers, goats, cows, chickens, and ducks are also very profitable. Add some void chickens and a few rabbits (sheep, if you want wool) and you have a nice income all year round.
I do that too (one coop and one barn). Mayo and cheese turn a nice profit. Plus I like befriending the town, having some of every item just in case, and completing the community center so you need at least one of every animal.

If that was truly the only intent of the game, JoJa Inc. would never have been put into the game as an option, when clearly it is a money oriented play-through. That being said, it's not like having extra money doesn't hurt with building the community center either.

If you manage to get to the bottom of the Mines and open the Desert during Year 1, you can take a couple of quick forays into the Skull Cavern, which will net you the Iridium you need. Going to the bottom of the Mines in the first place will set you up with enough Gold to make that a non-issue. But those pesky Battery Packs require a thunderstorm to find, and those don't appear in Winter.
#6 Crab pots- Late game you can them them everywhere at water. You can get materials and more fish than you can catch manually. The fish are more important because you turn them into hundreds of high quality fertilizer for your next megacrop in the spring. This can take some investment in getting a lot of them crab pots, getting enough machines to produce bait, and lots of sap...but its worth it because you can save hundreds of thousands of gold per year by not buying from Pierre.
MAD Master001 you can actually get fish from the crabpots? I've only gotten like.. lobsters and junk like that. I am allergic to the fishing in this game, so it you can actually produce the fish through them, then that is amazing!

Thank you DF, the mushroom level and how it works... always learning something new about the game from your vlogs. PS. For those having trouble with gathering wood, I use every spare inch of the railway/spa area and set up a forest from my pine/oak/maple seeds that I collect in my farming. I plant them once a week during the other seasons, come winter they are trees ready to log or place tappers on.
I haven’t had to worry about Iridium. I managed to get the Statue of Perfection the first time and used that to upgrade my tools as I didn’t bother with the mines until Winter anyway. I really haven’t touched Skull Cavern. My two biggest money makers are the pigs and star fruit wine.
tip for making winter seeds: hoe up the dirt everywhere during winter for winter roots and snow yams, they spawn randomly like clay- even in the desert and beach. they won't benifit from the botanist perk (they'll be normal quality) but you can easily collect a ton of them for making seeds. Also crystal fruit can be turned into wine so have fun with that if you want i guess?
I put jars and kegs outside and make some jelly and wine over the winter. in the other seasons I save the normal-quality fruits and veggis to use them in winter. so you dont "waste" money. in winter you have so much space anyway :) so why dont fill it and make it usefull.
The Cotton Candy build cabins or barns to make up extra space. In my older build I had three barns full of kegs turning star fruit I grew throughout the year in the greenhouse into valuable wine

It depends on if you need money right away or not. If you are desperate for money, then I would sell the truffles, but otherwise, yeah. I would turn them into oil
If you have the tractor just switch back and forth from the pick axe and hoe, dig up lots of winter root and convert them to seed in the seed maker. Bonus from that is you get the odd ancient seed to plant in the greenhouse. Winter can be very profitable!

It's actually not. For ancient fruits, you need the seeds once, for starfruit, you either have to sacrifice roundabout half the harvest or half the earnings for new seeds. Plus ancient fruits in the greenhouse go extremely well with fillling your basement with kegs for them. 7 days for wine, 7 days from one harvest to the next. 116 fruits from the greenhouse, 117 spots for kegs (116 kegs plus one cask is my strategy). I've actually calculated it and you make lots more with the ancient fruit in the long run.
Thats you, some of us put more emphasis on the mines and getting to skull cavern for that sweet iridium, i dont remember but if you focus on the mines you can get to the bottom in 3 months maybe 2
I find skull cavern is the better mine to get coal from, because every time you hit a level with a leftover minecart it has coal in it, unlike the local mine which once it's gone it's gone.
I love how much better at this game you are then me. I play pretty casually so your like "you should have some sprinklers by now" I'm like uh oh. "Should be near the bottom of the mine", Me: "is floor 15 good enough"
You can also get winter forages in the Ice part of the mine! If you’re there get a ton of them and get winter seeds much earlier in much greater quantities
I didn't need a guide. I just enjoy DF's videos! But this has been what i have been doing even on my original play though. Spend lots of time in the mines & fishing, and construct things ahead of time to make the next year easier.
Your list is quite good! I'll share my own so some fellas can get other ideas too: - Plant wild seeds (mentioned on the video) - Lumber! Gather as many wood and hardwood as you can. I don't trend to sell the hard wood, but normal wood, if you have 7 groups of 999 units of wood, why not sell a couple? I also take time every season to "trim" the woods and remember the Secret Woods. - Mine: Mines, Quarry, Skull Cavern, Mutant Bug Lair. (Also on the video, gather materials, ores, fighting exp and go until the end.) - If not completed, go to the Witch's Swamp and complete the Dark Talisman quest, bring void mayo! - Try to build as much as you can. Keep in mind to save for spring seeds. - Profit from animal products and if you already can, aged them. (if you upgraded your house to the 3 upgrade, you will have a cellar and aging ) - Fishing, the Sewers, Mines, Witch's Swamp, Mountains, River, Sea, Secret Woods, set crab pots.... - Go to the desert and chop some palms, fish, get coconuts and cacti fruit. Also the store is cool and the Casino. - Use your Greenhouse, take the best advantage you can from it. - Plant trees: yeah they won't give you anything but at least you settled the space for them. - Restructure your farm if needed. So as you can see, winter is also a busy season. :D
There is a way to get 4-6 Harvests of farming Winter Seeds. But it will take a bit of work to get too. First; Get Farming level 10. Pick Tiller, then Agriculturist. This will make Crops 10% more valuable but this does not apply to Forageables like Winter Seed Crops. But the +10% Growth Speed does. Second; Get either Delux Speed Gro, or Hyper Speed Gro. For another 25% or 33% growth speed. Third; Get Forage to level 10. Pick Gatherer and Botanist (For a chance of extra crop per harvest of forageables), and making them all Iridium Quality. Calculation: With just the 10% It will take 6.3 days to Grow, which is rounded up so will still take 7 days. With basic Speed Gro, we add another 10% which removed 1.4 days, making it take 5.6 days rounded up to 6. That means we can get 4 Harvests in total. With Delux Speed Gro we get 35% which removes 2.45 days, making them grow every 4.55 days rounded up to 5, so we are now up to 5 harvests. With Hyper Speed Gro we get a total of 43% which will remove 3.01 days, for a whooping of 3.99 days of growth rounded up to 4. So in total we can get exactly 6 Harvests in the season (From the first day, to the last. Including the Festivals, you won't miss a single harvest or replant. Festivals are the 8th, 15th-17th, and 25th. Harvest days if you plant then day 1, is 5th, 9th, 13th, 17th, 21th, 25th.)
I'm surprised beach foraging wasn't mentioned. You can find all kinds of winter roots and such and make a ton of money doing it. It's also a decent way to find artifacts for the museum as there's often a lot of worms there.
About the tip #1: Farming. I recomend, in the first year, to instead of create Winter Seeds using the itens, get the Winter Foraging Bundle. so you will get 30 winter seeds. And, in the last harvest, use the "crops" to create more seeds and keep then for the next winter. I finished my first year with 150 winter seeds ready for the second year. At least you can sell the gold quality ones.
I’m in year three and I’ve developed the ideology of never selling anything raw, always processed by a keg or preserces barrel. In winter, I’m still processing my autumn crops into more valubale wines, jellies, and pickles
I'm new to this game and I been watching your videos day in and day out. I love the jokes you add to each video. "Cant find wood don't play the game" that killed me
I didn't realize you could even plant stuff during the winter, guess I never tried o.o. I need to play more, I've been waiting to play again once the multiplayer hits but now that I know this i'm tempted to play again.
FizzPuff I knew you could plant winter seeds since you get 30 of them from Gunther when you add a certain number of items to the museum but I had no idea you could craft them!
You can also run Winter Root through the seed maker to get more seeds. You can hoe up your farm, the mountain/railroad areas and the Beach to get tons of them. They don't just spawn at artifact spots. This will give you even more seeds in winter. I also recommend either selling gold and silver quality winter forage and only using regular quality for seed making. Make sure all those gold and silver are out of your inventory before making seeds.
Yeah, one of each (4) don't turn into that many. You started with 192 seeds so you must've started with 20 of each i.e. 80 foraged items for 200 seeds to get to that amount by the 3rd harvest.
not an option many people think of, but if you're not at level 7 foraging which is the required amount for the winter seeds, you can upgrade your hoe and go to the beach and dig up as many of the foragables as possible. Each winter yam gives you 100g. You usually find at least 5 winter root and 5 winter yams which is at least 1000g. This is a tip for people just starting out trying to get more coins. By the end of the month, you'll have enough to make lots of upgrades and buy more barns or upgrade your current barn/coop.
I think you must be friend with everybody at least at five hearts level (?) (I don't really know how many you need, but i think it would be enough). Then, after some time you befriend them, they are going to send you recipies that you'll find in letter box.
Just started Stardew couple months ago and found you from other random videos related to the game. Great shit on this tips, duder. As an aside: as someone who personally hates the sound of their own voice...your success makes me consider getting a cam and starting on Twitch/YT.
Iridium truffles are good but turning them into truffle oil is better if you have the artisan profession since one truffle oil is worth about 1500 gold.
It's easy money period. Winter Seeds alone make me at least 350,000 every winter, and it only took one winter to get to the point where I had enough seeds to mass scale them starting from the 30 I got from the community center. No cheats required, just lots of sprinklers.
It's easy money without cheats, lol. He didn't cheat to find the foragables. It's not that hard to make sprinklers and water in the winter, especially when you have nothing else to do. You can make very easy money with his first method
@@LuckyOwI777 he did cheat in 190 winter seeds. 10 from the foraging he did, (that could have been 30, if if turned them in to the community bundle) the rest of the 200 he planted on day 1 of winter was cheated in.
@@sael1337 Honestly, I don't remember this video all to well cause it's been a while. . But my point was that it is easy money without cheat. The original comment said that this was only easy if you are using cheats. My counterpoint was that it is easy without cheats. Finding the foragables is easy. Making the seeds is easy. Watering the seeds is easy. Without cheats, it is easy. That was my point.
This is another crop that you can grow in winter that was recently added: fiber seeds. You get them from the "community cleanup" quest on the billboard, and they only take clay, sap, and mixed seeds. It's a great way to gather fiber to make grass for animals. Just thought I'd share!
@@saarza9991 The sprinkler isn't constantly flowing, lol. the water freezes inside the pipes connecting to the sprinklers and hoses. Also, flowing water doesn't mean it can't freeze, lol. Rivers freeze. Lakes freeze. etc.
If you're not at level 7 yet, get the seed maker and you can turn winter roots into (mixed) winter seeds, too! (the other foragables won't turn into seeds but the winter roots will; I did this the first winter and reached level 7 foraging about 2/3rds through the season so the comminity centre seeds and throwing all winter roots into the seed maker and selling the rest helped a lot until then. I saved the crystal fruit for preserves, though.)

Honestly, mining creeps the hell out of me bc of the rock bugs

I love how you start the video with "Hello everyone."
I find skull cavern is the better mine to get coal from, because every time you hit a level with a leftover minecart it has coal in it, unlike the local mine which once it's gone it's gone.
...what? I don't understand, lol. You get coal from abandoned mine carts in the mines. You have to right click on them
@@LuckyOwI777 he’s saying that the ones in the mine are a one time use, but bc skull cavern is random, it resets the mine carts
I love how much better at this game you are then me. I play pretty casually so your like "you should have some sprinklers by now" I'm like uh oh. "Should be near the bottom of the mine", Me: "is floor 15 good enough"
I love how DF can make even a simple productivity video entertaining.

Also, I love how your house is decorated to appear like an infested floor in the mines. It looks awesome.
Your list is quite good!
I'll share my own so some fellas can get other ideas too:
- Plant wild seeds (mentioned on the video)
- Lumber!
(Also on the video, gather materials, ores, fighting exp and go until the end.)
- If not completed, go to the Witch's Swamp and complete the Dark Talisman quest, bring void mayo!
- Try to build as much as you can. Keep in mind to save for spring seeds.
- Profit from animal products and if you already can, aged them. (if you upgraded your house to the 3 upgrade, you will have a cellar and aging )
- Fishing, the Sewers, Mines, Witch's Swamp, Mountains, River, Sea, Secret Woods, set crab pots....
"If You can't find wood, don't play the game."
Your sass kills me lol
Calculation:
With just the 10%
It will take 6.3 days to Grow, which is rounded up so will still take 7 days.
Df:you’ll only get three harvests
Speed gro:allow me to introduce myself
“If you can’t find wood, don’t play the game.” 🤣😭
“...If you can’t find wood, don’t play the game.”
I found this waaaaay too funny xD
I named one of my Stardew valley cows after you. And then it had a kid. And I called it mistake.
I'm new to this game and I been watching your videos day in and day out. I love the jokes you add to each video. "Cant find wood don't play the game" that killed me
Really... I'm on the 28th of winter... Really...
Haven Wankerl I know right, I saw this and watched it, but the whole time I was like "Wow thats just great, Winter is nearly over for me!"
Was same for me, the only reason i got money was from the mushroom thing in the cave demetrius madw
I'm 27 of winter
I don’t know how or why but watching this guy and listening to his voice in the winter makes me feel cozy
"If you can't find wood, don't play the game." great statement
When I reached Winter the first year, I was already floor 110, so yeah, there weren't that much mining for me during winter lol
@@AkariWu it really doesn’t take that long
"if you can't find wood, don't play the game." I lost it at that line lol
I didn't realize you could even plant stuff during the winter, guess I never tried o.o. I need to play more, I've been waiting to play again once the multiplayer hits but now that I know this i'm tempted to play again.
FizzPuff I knew you could plant winter seeds since you get 30 of them from Gunther when you add a certain number of items to the museum but I had no idea you could craft them!
I think I assumed that you just used the greenhouse for these crops.
"if you can't find wood, dont play the game" actually made me laugh.
I did that infinite stamina glitch and had it going while I did the cutscene for finishing the community center and it was hilarious
Colder than Mump's heart? Danm, those must be some subzero temperatures.
"If you cant find wood, dont play the game." LOL i love this guy
Ok i litteraly googled what to do in winter a few hours ago....
Matrix confirmed

Conspiracy: DF works for the FBI

not an option many people think of, but if you're not at level 7 foraging which is the required amount for the winter seeds, you can upgrade your hoe and go to the beach and dig up as many of the foragables as possible.
These days are colder than Mumps heart,
The entire town: aRE yOu SUrE aBOut THaT?
I set up my fences and barns this winter, got them all upgraded. Winter is my favorite season in the game ^_^
Im not even in fall of my first year and I have already gone to floor 120 of the mines...I have way to much time to waste...

i want a video talking about cooking and how to complete all the recipes pleaase
“If you can’t find wood don’t play the game” hahah
Iridium truffles are good but turning them into truffle oil is better if you have the artisan profession since one truffle oil is worth about 1500 gold.
There's one more thing. Design your farm!
"Flirting with people who aren't your wife" you are dangerously funny
“...if you can’t find wood, don’t play the game” lol
It's better to give the first 4 items to the community center and that gives you 30 wild seeds for winter. Great video bro
"180k, Easy money" Easy money if you are using cheat -_-
It's easy money period.
Top tip: you can also put the winter roots through a seed maker to get winter seeds.
Pam is the worst source of income.
🔥🔥Good one!🔥🔥
Haha fire my guy
This is another crop that you can grow in winter that was recently added: fiber seeds. You get them from the "community cleanup" quest on the billboard, and they only take clay, sap, and mixed seeds. It's a great way to gather fiber to make grass for animals. Just thought I'd share!
"If you can't find wood, don't play the game." I lost it~
Your videos are serious and most of them are funny plus your voice is calm
Me: Can't find fire quartz for the community center
Also me: *Gets like 1000 of every other gem though*
Merry blablabla to you - thanks for posting these!
So how does a sprinkler work when its below freezing?
Markus game logic
Anti-freeze in the water supply.
Ericmyrs that would be extremly expensive
Because the water is in constant motion, it never gets cold and since it's temperature is more than the outside, the sprinkler will continue to work
@@saarza9991 The sprinkler isn't constantly flowing, lol. the water freezes inside the pipes connecting to the sprinklers and hoses.
The best thing YOU can do in Winter is to farm level 93 in the mines until you get a Dinosaur egg.
Cocoa Plays
93 is oddly specific. Does that floor have an increased chance, or something?
@@CloudySkies17695 I hear so, but haven't tried it since lucky me keeps getting them first Spring.
It’s just so weird hearing him not making terrible comments about all the NPCs and being extra snarky lol but really helpful video!
