Since I've recently played Prodeus, when you've reached the section regarding how INCISION deals with player's death, I couldn't stop thinking “Hey, Prodeus should actually do something like that”!
The music itself was one of the several reasons i've got the game, if an ost ever comes out on steam, then count me in. It feels refreshing to have a game with industrial like music on it. Considering i grew up with music like NIN, front line assembly and skinny puppy, the ost feels like home to me =P
Hey Kirk, great review as always, body horror games are a rare sight these days and this one looks phenomenal. I know you probably will focus on horror action games for the month, but later you should check a game called Severed Steel, a fast paced FPS with a bit of Max Payne and F.E.A.R mechanics, recently they´ve release new content and weapons, its pretty awesome.
Even as we hit critical mass, we still get gems like this. I wonder how this is going to progress, this budding nostalgic genre. We got tasteful non immersion breaking world building here….how soon till we ride a nice long tram into work thinking wow I’m getting half life vibes let’s goooo!!? Goddamn son, that first boss about got me to refund it took me like 15-20 tries to “figure it out” it was hell, running that route, kill spiders, kill fireball guy THEN try again…ugh. But the dopamine hit on completion made me glad I pushed through.
The absence of normal check points was a nice surprise & definitely makes this title stand out a little bit further from the crowd... but not in a bad way (looking at you Prodeus.)
This game feels like Turbo Overkill's meth-addicted cousin, and I honestly like it more than the other. On the one hand Incision doesn't get remotely as outrageous with its weapons, and obviously there's no chainsaw leg, but I prefer the tighter level design and overall lack of frills and gimmicks.
I bought this Game and i thought about the quake factor, on all the ways You mention, also some painkiller/Hellraiser vibe to it ando i felt sometimes... .a little of e.y.e, in the scenarios. By the way i have to give You my congratulations about how much you have improved throught your videos, while keeping your style.
@@KIRKCOLLECTS me and the pops would play though doom 93 coop over a serial cable. Me and my own boy are about to get some of that vibe with prodeus, more coop in boomer shooters devs!!!!
I'm waiting for Acheron. I can't wait. A game that's going to be something really unique and probaby go unnoticed because no one seems to know it exists
This game really sucks without having any way to save the game 40 minutes straight into a level killed everything but cant find the 2nd tumor, so now i have to redo the whole level. To me this is a no sale
Lives system - shite. No checkpoint - big shite. Redoing whole level just for the boss fight - piss off. If I can beat the whole level why force me to do it again? It's the boss fight I need to work on. When you have a demanding job which leaves you tired after the shift, you don't have time/patience for that. I like hard games, but lack of respect for my time is a dealbreaker. You don't even have to have a challenging job, you may just not want to repeat over and over the part you are good at. Before someone counters it with 'you have to beat a whole thing in one go' maybe you should always set PERMADEATH to ON in every game that allows you, to keep replaying the parts you are good with. You'll will puke at the game you would otherwise love and worship. Bad design is bad design and wasting someone's time is so.
have u even played tge damn game. the game gives u plenty of lives. honestly it is better cuz life system gives u an extra chance when u fk up and recompose yourself instead of forcing you to redo the whole section from the last checkpoint. so unless u fk up really bad you wont need to redo the whole mission. kinda makes combat more tense and health dropping to zero feels consequential cuz lives are limited and forces u to be tactful instead of the unlimited number loading previous checkpoint. also combat encounters are also designed with more thought put into it cuz no checkpoint means sh^tty enemy placement would end up frustrating and forced the dev to show restraint and mindful with enemy encounter instead of just enemy spam
This is not a good idea, punishing is one thing...frustrating is just not cool. Collecting lives, now I played most of 90s shooters but that was never the thing Project. Wrlocks had that and that didn't go well.
Thing is, for the most part it works pretty well in Incision. Similarly to Doom Eternal losing a life simply refills part of your health and makes you invincible for a few seconds, so you're not being pulled out of the flow. And the game is generous enough with lives; the larger the maps, the more 1ups you find, and unfair sudden death scenarios are rare - though using your rocket launcher in close quarters is a death sentence (no rocket jump in this game).
it kinda works in this game tho, like dropping your health below zero doesnt mean u gotta redo the area from a nearby checkpoint as a punishemnt, rather the "Lives" system helps you keep on going and continuing the flow. i dont remember replaying any area (apart from the first boss) at all, and there are plenty of lives to be found and it is fun since the level design is pretty good too. it really works well unless you particularly suk at certain area. thanks to the lives system i never really had to boringly replay any area in this game compared to other FPS with checkpoint, getting your health to zero doesnt forces you to replay the same area from nearby checkpoint as a punishment but rather works like a wake up call to perform better(considering you have extra lives collected). only if u particularly suk at certain areas then well RiP you gotta do the whole level. it sounds bad on paper but works well with this game and makes every encounter even with a single enemy feel like an intense duel cuznu gotta manage resources since there are no checkpoints
the artstyle feels like a mesh of Dusk and Silent Hill, pretty cool

Agreed!
Hyperstrange is on a roll lately
Yep, they were wise to snag this one.
This Boomer Shooter definitely has me rooting for its success.
Thanks for your review, really enjoyed it!!
Likewise for your music!

Discovered your channel recently. You're my new favourite person when it comes to FPS on TH-cam ✌
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
this game is like Doom met Quake met Silent Hill. i love it

Maaaan THIS is how you start Spooktober!

Prodeus has checkpoints. Did you mean to say "it has a new twist on checkpoints that I don't like"?
@@INFILTR8US They are not really traditional checkpoints if you know what I mean.

Solid review
Love your vids man. You and gman are my go to fps guys.
Looks like a blend between Dusk and Prodeus.
Incision's lives system >>>> Nexus Points/Save Points
I love this game so much.
That pistol gives me timesplitters vibes .
Will you review Prodeus' full version?
Yes, but my review is going to come a little later. I am currently going through it in co-op and having a lot of fun.

For some reason gives me Tower of Science vibes from castlevania legacy of darkness. Looks wicked fun.
*"Meat-Tech"* is my new favorite word this year

Nice
wow ini and nin have the same letters in their accronym i wonder if that's intentional.
Most of the environments int his game is what it would be like if you were to see the Crimson Biome from Terraria in an FPS perspective
Man, just two or three more seconds and this video would be the perfect length.
Great! Console plz
What about multiplayer? This seems perfect for a MP game but not so much for a singleplayer shooter
I would love to see more classic horror game alikes... 😶
No check point before the boss = No Buy
Love me a retro shooter but not a fan of this game’s visuals
Which platform
PC only at the moment. Platforms will always be listed in the description right before the time codes.

too dark
Silent hill 3 fps
Looks kind of boring to me.
Can we get a list of current(new or not too old) top 5-10 best fps games.
