cause the trooper lied about his speed and had no reason to give him a ticket dude. he wasn't going 85, his fastest speed was 72 which is 7 mph over 65...when the LEO saw the red light from the GoPro recording, his entire mood and story changed up and he wrote a "warning" cause he knew his lies wont hold up with video evidence against his word. Ride safe bro's get a GoPro save u from unneeded harassment. I kno this from experience atleast 5 different police, highway patrol, and the sheriff in California.

Big props to the van driver at the end for actually admitting fault. Most people wanna just throw a fit and act like they aren't in the wrong.
That van was doing some weird stuff. When I see a car doing weird things I assume they will continue to do weird things, so I back off.
He changed his tune when the woman came over. From "you hit me" to "you ok" instantly, saw the camera and started thinking how to lie his way out with the eyes darting. Hoped the rider would 'man up' and let him off

Im wearing a helmet if nothing else and then definitely gloves second most important for me, one of my dads friends works at an ER and apparently for riders with no gear on at all their hands are always the first thing to go with them being what you instinctively put first when falling
@@felixlaing2520 I live in a country where it’s very hard to wear gear and not die because of the heat but 100% of the time I wear gloves even if I’m on a little 150 scooter

@@Right_is_Wrong Agreed. Van driver completely at fault but the rider could have probably been a little bit more patient and not tried to squeeze past. Unfortunately whether you ride or drive you have to be defensive and be prepared for other motorists to do stupid, dangerous things.

I actually ran out of gas at 160 kph on the autobahn yesterday. Had to pull over on the shoulder and funnily enough there was a gas station sign indicating the next station was only 500 m ahead. So I just pushed it there and filled her right up. Had the best of luck in a bad situation, lol.

Don't think he was zoned out, the van driver had me thinking he was turning left and I had the benefit of knowing something unusual was about to happen. He indicated left and swung his vehicle over to the left. At 9:08 I think we'd all have been exactly where the biker was, and by then it's already too late to brake or swerve out of the way.
@@SHPrtz not really educated on UK traffic laws, but it looks like the green light was visible, and the tires showed indications of a turn. At this point the rider should have been in a cautious state, but he was keeping a steady speed.
@@thankthemosthighgod9135 well the only relevant traffic laws are that the road signs show that the right hand lane is straight ahead only, and the left lane is straight ahead or left turn. There is no right turn there and thus a u-turn is illegal. Yes the green light is visible, hence the biker going through the lights, I don't see how that affects anything. As for seeing it coming, at 9:05 the van is already indicating left and moving over to the left hand lane. A whole 3 seconds later, when the biker is level with the van's back wheel, the van is still doing both of these. No one would be expected to anticipate what happened at that point. But by 8:09, first view of wheels turning right, it's already too late for the biker to get themselves out of trouble. Absolutely atrocious driving from the van and pretty unavoidable for the biker. Maybe where you live there's more space on the roads but in the UK if you held back from every vehicle in a left lane, indicating left, and moving left at a junction, you would never get anywhere and may as well walk.

First accident is exactly that, an accident. Bad time of day with sun directly in the eyes of drivers. Not a good situation. Always stay off to the side in a motorcycle to avoid rear ends

Anyone got any tips for a new rider? My bike is getting delivered today between 10 and 11 am MST and have only ridden dirt bikes about 20 some odd years ago.... Any tips or advice much appreciated!! BTW I bought myself a 2002 Suzuki GSX600F Katana.... I love sport bikes and was told it would be a great starter bike for me plus I got it for 1000 bucks!
I rarely see katanas yes it's a good starter bike but please know where friction zone is and check tire thread.

I came to the comments for this reason. It's half his fault for stopping in the middle of the lane with the sun low like that. I saw a rear collision coming a mile away. Stay in 1st, pick a side and watch the driver coming up behind you at a light for a quick escape. Way too common.

Riders do their best Karen impressions.
Everyone makes mistakes, but what is worrying is how often people seem to be clueless as to why an accident happened, who had right of way, knowledge of the highway code, etc. My kids won’t be let loose until they can not only understand all of that, but be able to narrate their drive whilst calling out hazards and defensive mitigations. I guess as motorcyclists we’re acutely aware, but I feel like I would be similarly diligent, albeit less so, as a car only driver.
