When I bought my house 10 years ago it had been empty for 2 years and the bank didn't maintain it. My neighbors were coming over thanking me for fixing it up. Lol

I enjoyed the video and felt like I did learn a few things to. I think if ever I had a need to build railings on the outside of a house I would know how to do it now and make it look halfway decent. Also the no music was a nice change, not that I don't like the videos with music, but this was just more relaxing for some reason lol Nothing like the sounds of saws and drills lol

I am in the process of redoing ONE room in my apartment... I have always been in awe of how much energy you're putting into this... now even more so. I've been obnoxious about how Americans build their houses but I must say remodeling a house on the level you're doing on a house built like the one I live in is... well not impossible but certainly an order of magnitude harder on a body and the wallet. So I appreciate the building style more now. It may not be as... sturdy? as I'm used to but it's for sure a whole lot more flexible.
A friend is remodeling his apartment currently. For the bathroom, he had to use an impact drill and drill the tiles off, as well as parts of walls and the floor to expose the pipes as he needs access to them. The amount of dust was unreal. Luckily he's in shape, so his body held up, but it was taxing on the body nonetheless. So in times like these, I envy the Americans for their style of building.
I'll have to do the rails on my mom's porch like this when I rebuild it. Yours look a lot better and are definitely a lot easier than what she currently has.
I love the smell of aluminum oxide dust in the morning, it smells like victory. Great job as always. Congratulations on the new sponsorship, we will pay them a visit.

The railing completely change the look of the house and my opinion of it. Great job. Just enough teaching so I could do it, but not so much that I get bored. Keep up the good work.
Paint the porch floor same colour as what you paint the concrete foundation perhaps dark grey ? The paint will eventually wear on the floor but by the time that happens you may be ready to fix it. Great job looks good.
Congrats on almost 400k subscribers! Quite a jump from when I started watching at the beginning of $12,000 home. You have a lot of good ideas with working with what you've got.

I loved the Norm Abram moment when you talked about the sawblade's thickness turning the wood into sawdust. Every weekend warrior needs those kinds of finish carpenter tips. Measure, mark the cut...? leave the pencil mark or not to make the wood fit perfectly and tight. You know, that sort of thing. We all need those tips. Great video.
This is the first time i've commented. I think all you do helps the neighbor. I used to do a lot of remodeling and sometimes things you just got to figure it out for yourself. Just a suggestion: The windows and doors trim, rails and columns would really pop against the white house if you painted them a different color. Any light color would contrast nicely.
Can be dark color too. For example dark wood or even black. I think, and I may be wrong, that all white wouldn't look good on this house. All white looks good on new, fancy houses, with Greek style columns and such.
@@infinitydreamzz Black would make the railings look like prison bars. You need a color that isn't so pale as to be considered off-white. But if you did that, then you'd probably want to match the front trim color to all the windows, so that would be more painting. It would really be nice though. Doesn't Lowes have a colorizer imaginer thing on their website or in their store so you can get an idea of how different colors might look? There was a store, I forget which one, that had fake imported shutters, but made of real wood, for about $3 each. I bought those and painted them our trim color. Easy to put up. It really dressed up that litte house.
The handrails look really clean and sharp, great job. Painting would of course improve durability. The front of the house looks so much more solid - neighbours must be pleased 😃
I liked the way you framed the rails. Clean looking and functional. I bet in the long run those rails will shrink less or become loose. Like the rails on my townhouse!
