    Ever since I have found out about sculpting clay and the beauty that can be done with it, I had thought of creating a custom Shadow Man action figure based off of the third Shadow Man Michael Leroi.
    Keep up the good work.

    I'm a novice sculptor who loves action figures. I do fairly well with the human body as far as proportions and realism goes, but I can't sculpt a head/face to save my life. I'd like to make heads for 6" figures with super sculpty but so far all I have so far is a shelf full of mishapped heads. Thanks, your vid was very helpful.

    Hi, great video. I have a question I was hoping you could answer. When sculpting a head from scratch (or any piece really) how do you ensure it will fit onto the ball joint? I would have thought you would have to push it onto the joint when the clay is soft, but how do you get around not squashing the details? Thanks.

    • @Urface93095
      @Urface93095 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could probably fit it before you bake the Sculpy, if you're careful, but you could just dremel the socket once the Sculpy is hardened.

    • @danielmilliken8903
      @danielmilliken8903 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can help with that. Make your basic round/ almond head shape or underlying base around ball J then split into two halves put back together and bake it. Then you can add all details and face mass onto that to re bake again. This should work for epoxy or other mediums as well.

  • @sunsurfer1219
    @sunsurfer1219 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you make the concavity in the head for the neck to make snap onto the body? I'm assuming you made it before baking it? Or no? Thanks man! Big fan.

  • @jonahjohnsen6519
    @jonahjohnsen6519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    At that scale you don't need much detail for the eyes just the general shape of the face the eyes you can just paint into a undefined low detail eye with only the suggestion of eyelids without going into serious detail and still get amazing results from the painting stages.

  • @Grom112
    @Grom112 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Greg, question: Are you able to use say a Marvel Universe Head as a base and then sculpt over it with this Super Sculpey, then pop it into the oven without the plastic melting? I know you mentioned that sometimes you just use a base figure and dremel it all leaving the eyes but can you use Super Sculpey in an oven via that scenario?

    • @GregSarabiaArt
      @GregSarabiaArt  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the oven would affect whatever plastic is left. I know some people will boil the sculpey instead of baking it in that specific case but I haven't tried it myself.

      Greg Sarabia do you think i can mold a gun for a starlod action figure?

    • @Urface93095
      @Urface93095 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diego Cavazos Of course; just make a mold of it and use casting resin to make a copy, or more.

    • @stuffers101
      @stuffers101 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Bonaudo ok thanks but i dont know where to buy resin

    • @Urface93095
      @Urface93095 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diego Cavazos I'm not sure where you live, but local Hobby Stores should have resin kits. They have them at Hobby Lobby is you have any of those. Otherwise, online you can looks for resin used for mold making. There is rubber mold that you can buy as well to make a mold of the gun, and then use the resin to make copies. Hope that helps a little..

    • @zachdewitt7911
      @zachdewitt7911 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if you're using sculpey it shouldn't be too bad for you, but if you're having trouble with smoothing it out, dampen a watercolor paint brush, very important that it's watercolor, and lightly brush the sculpt, but what helps it to sculpture using those latex medical gloves aswell.
