    I love your creativity and imagination with miniatures! Too many miniaturists over use 3D printers or wood laser printers, and don’t create art the way you do. Thank you for sharing your creative ideas with us!

    I have made miniature books, I thought they all needed a spine and flip through paper even the ones that are smaller than a dime (American dime) This is so much so better, I even made an open book, so fun. I love the post-it note idea 🤗🤗🤗♥️♥️

    Thank you so much for doing this tutorial! I'm obsessed with making tiny books at the moment and will be doing at least two library mini book nooks (one in a mint tin and one in an actual old book). I want a variety of books with different sizes and covers, so I will definitely be using your magazine cutout and faux leather techniques here. I've also used Mod Podged fabric scraps for some covers. I made two CD cases and a vinyl record sleeve based on your CD here too. 😃

    Watching this video brought back memories of when I made books for my daughter's dollhouse, back in the mid 90's. Back then, it was easy to find book cover images to use for them...and album covers, too. There was no shortage of junk mail from various book clubs, and Columbia House with their "10 albums for $1" offers. They all became fodder.

    I used catalog pictures of bed sheet sets wrapped around a paper straw for Christmas wrapping paper rolls. There was a Peanuts winter scene with Snoopy sledding, etc., and several different red and green plaids. Also, "JOEL 2006" made me think of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). It didn't come out in 2006 but the protagonists, Joel and Clementine, were together for 2 years... and met for the second time in a bookstore where Clementine worked.

      A similar idea... I took cutouts of fertilizer ads one for the front another for the back, overlap the sides and fold 3 creased on each side such that it folds up like a brown paper shopping bag.
      Then I took soil a sifted it thru a screen and filled the bag with very fine dirt and folded over and glued shut my miniature 50 pound sack of garden fertilizer!!

    Great work =) Advice for matboard- definitely stick with paste for it. When I worked in framing and used it for miniatures on the side, too much moisture causes the matboard to separate after a while. It works great for magazines if you don't mind that look though.

    • @BelindaShort
      @BelindaShort ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, if you get some scraps of fabric mat, that fabric can be removed and works great as bookcloth

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes a lot of sense. When I use matboard to make mini furniture, I use wood glue and weigh it down, clamp it or hold it together with tape while it dries.

    • @queencityminis

      I'm sure they'll turn out great. Many of my covers are crooked on the back or not entirely covered etc but they're only filler books anyway. Just hide the ugly ones and give the best books the center stage.

      @@queencityminis You are so sweet! Thank you I will give it a try I was telling my husband about this video of yours, and that I was going to try and make some books And that I so enjoy the video's that I can watch/learn from/ and make it I mean so many video's don't really teach for the regular/starter person With things that don't cost sooooo much! 😞 Thank you again, and can't wait to learn more from you

    Nice! Are you going to make just a book case for them or an entire diorama? Nic the Booksmith has done a mini bookcase. You will have to look for it in her older videos. I think she gives instructions and a template also. But as creative as you are, you already have an idea for a book case or have already made one. I'm looking forward to see how you are going to use the 📚 books.

      I did make some of these for a project I've been working on behind the scenes. Idk when it'll be out.
      I think making a desk and dollhouse in progress for the Miniature magazines would be really fun.

    Is mat-board the same as mount board used around pictures in framing?

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is! You can go to a framing shop (like Michael's) and ask for scraps. They'll give them away for free.
