Oh my goodness, I've made a custom ornament for my son every year since he was 1 to represent that year's obsession/interest. There is pacifier, a fire truck, a crystal for the geology phase etc. This is PERFECT for his 15th year. He read like 50 books this year and I can lurk on his Goodreads account to see what's happening! THANK YOU SO MUCH, he'll love this! I plan to give these all to him when he has his own home. 🥰
Best mini book tutorial out there! I followed along with ease. Thank you for including links to the affordable supplies. I can't decide which looks cuter now that I finished the mini books - put them all in an ornament or line them up on a mini library cart! Good problem to have :)
thank you so much for this video! I want to make one of these ornaments for my friend but I had no idea where to start...this video is super helpful and I feel way less intimidated by the project now!
Thanks so much for the tutorial. This is the second year I've made for our Book Club gift exchange. Always a big hit. Has anyone tried something like this with pictures. Just wondered if it would work.
Thank you for your video!! You are a genius. I would like to make copies of all the books I’ve read. 1,380! Your process is the only way I could practically accomplish this feat!!
This is just so fun❣️ Thank you for sharing. My granddaughter and her son love to read. This would be perfect Christmas ornaments for them and fun for me to make. You explained everything very well.❤️
I am not much of a crafter. Maybe I should say finishing a craft...hmm. I’m making the ornaments for my 3 great nephews/nieces ages 11mo, 13mo, and 3yr (3 different families). All of them reading or being read too. Your video was direct, easy to follow, tips were excellent, different ways to make them, and encouraging. Thanks. I will post some photos by the end of January 🙃
Thank you for sharing this method! I’ve only seen people doing the according fold, or making pages and mod podging the covers and that always seemed like a bit too much for me. Your method seems WAY more doable!
If you put the books side by side, and cut the strips lengthwise instead of across the paper after putting on the foam, you could fix that upside issue.
I was wondering where you can find the spine covers for these books...? and what could i use instead of foam because accordian folding is time consuming like you said
I was trying to get the authentic look for them.. but thank you! thi is super easy to do.. but still in the process of cover hunting lol @@SorryBookedSolid
Thanks for the alternative methods. I have watched many How- videos. You have given me the confidence to give this a try. One question, where can I get the book template you mentioned?
I tried glue sticks and it won’t stick. Now doing Elmers- hoping it will stay! Also, how many “books” fit into your ball? I have 75-100 and wondering if I need to go a size up. Thanks!
I was wondering how this was done! Great explanation 👍🏻 also, what are you wearing on ring finger? Is that a silicone ring? I am thinking about buying something like that so I don’t have to wear my expensive wedding ring all the time 😂
I'd like to make this for a person new to reading, so don't think i can come up with that many books. I will look to buy a smaller ornament and use some other filler.
Oh no! Well the template is just a bunch of rectangles approximately 1” tall by .5” wide. You could create one yourself pretty easily or else just resize your images to be those dimensions! (And doesn’t have to be exact, like I mentioned in my video I just made them all the same height and didn’t worry about width!) Good luck!! 🤩
i must be thick but I found it impossible to do the first steps of getting these onto one sheet very hard, and using the grid I dont have , hard.... you go really quickly.
Sorry to hear that! I didn’t use a grid - just resized each photo to be the same height and then Microsoft word automatically put them into lines for me. Hopefully you are able to get it figured out!!
You need to right-click and select “open in a new tab”. Or right from that point you can right-click on the book cover and save the image (you don’t have to open it in a new tab first if you don’t want to)
@@SorryBookedSolid never figured out how to copy the cover UNTIL this year. two things helped - I revisited the video and found it had been updated and I saw where I made my error AND I enlisted my daughter to help me and she found a couple of short cuts for me as well. I have not completed the project as of yet but will soon. this is a surprise Christmas gift to the ladies in my bookclub!
I think I have the worst luck ever, I used sticker paper & tried to stick it to my foam sheet & it would NOT stick & I even tried to also use a glue stick to stick it & it wouldn't work 🤦🏽♀️😭

I love your video. I have to watch it every year to remind me how to make the ornament! have made them for the last several years. Thank you!!

I’m so glad this was helpful!! Sounds like you just need to make two sets 😉🥰
That is so cool. Now I can display my own book covers! Thank you. Have a magical day.
Glad it’s helpful! 😊

Thank you for this tutorial. I'm going to make these for my TBR books and pop them in a jar to randomly draw!

Haha - I didn’t come up with this idea but thank you!! Good luck, you can definitely do it!! 😍😍
Thank you - what fun! I’m making a yearly book one - but also maybe favorite travel spots :)
Oooh what a great idea!
so fun! made this and it turned out great. Used foamcore for the inside, and then painted one edge of the books to make a spine. Very cute
Yay!! Great idea, glad it turned out for you!
Love this! They also make adhesive foam sheets!
Ohhh good to know!! 💛

My local library did this craft and we used the accordion method. Your system seems like it would go so much faster!
Hope it’s helpful to try in the future!! 💛

Absolutely! Thanks for watching! 😊

Spin covers? And if you don’t have foam, you could use a thick piece of card stock or just stick the covers together without anything in the middle!
Thank you!! Sorry I meant Spine covers..@@SorryBookedSolid
@@starrybibliophile5002ohhh, that I don’t know! My mini books don’t have spines to them!

Such a cute idea! Approximately how many books can you fit in the ornament? Thanks!
A little over 100! Since I read 150+ each year I ended up splitting each year into 2 ornaments so the books have room to breathe and be moved around.
Thanks for the alternative methods. I have watched many How- videos. You have given me the confidence to give this a try. One question, where can I get the book template you mentioned?
Great to hear! Good luck! ☺️ the template for book covers is linked in the description of this video.
Can you make them slightly larger than the opening and bend them slightly to fit in?
Yes as long as the foam you get is flexible, you should be able to! Mine bend easily.
What thickness foam sheets did you use?
I’m not sure! Pretty thin so that I could still bend them enough to get the books inside the ornament.
I tried glue sticks and it won’t stick. Now doing Elmers- hoping it will stay! Also, how many “books” fit into your ball? I have 75-100 and wondering if I need to go a size up. Thanks!
Ahh, fingers crossed the new glue works for you!
I was able to fit around 100 in mine, so yours should fit! 😊
Thanks!
What kind of sticker paper?
Any that allows you to print on it! I have an option linked in the description box.
I was wondering how this was done! Great explanation 👍🏻 also, what are you wearing on ring finger? Is that a silicone ring? I am thinking about buying something like that so I don’t have to wear my expensive wedding ring all the time 😂
I’m glad it’s helpful!! And YES I have probably 10-15 silicone rings and I love them and wear them all the time!
Has anyone had luck with an adhesive? I see several comments about paper not sticking to foam

SO CUTE! But I’m not making over 100 of them and I can’t choose between by babies. 😅
🤣🤣🤣

I cannot get step one to work . when I hover over the title , it will show the title as in your video but then nothing else happens. sad face
