Another story told of a Starter Colony, ran by androids, whom were protecting colonists, were raided by a Slaver Race...
When word got back to the main body of humanity, several high-ranking military officials were devastated as they woke up from cryo.
That Slaver Race learned the Wrath of Humans all too well as 4 out of 6 of their sectors were wiped out faster than they ever achieved since that Slaver Race began.
But to make it sadder... out of thousands of colonists that died on that planet, only 1 toddler in a cryopod survived, protected by her parents cryopod.
      She was a Major's niece.
And it was that glimmer of hope, that made humanity stop its attack on the Slaver Race. Over 50 billion of their kind, reduced to only 200. With a name change.

First question: how is our blood poisonous? Does it work like a heavy metal poisoning from iron? Or is it more like plastic eaten? Or do our macrophages still do their job after leaving their host body, and because they ain't got much of an immune System? I can also imagine our red bloodcells just being better than their equivalent, and in a way strangling the thraxian. Or thrombocytes leading to thrombosis'.

    • @davidtherwhanger6795

In theory any species that evolved on another planet would not be able to survive on what we eat, breath, or even possibly drink. Chemistry being too different. It is entirely possible that some substances from our environment would be highly toxic to them. And the reverse also, they being possibly toxic to us.

    • @scott644
      @scott644 ปีที่แล้ว

Who knows? I mean, half our foodstuffs are toxic to most of our pets, so why not our bodies being toxic to some xenos? If that doesn't work, we could just chalk it up to science fantasy and simply enjoy. ^_^

Well, human blood *does* contain small amounts of formaldehyde, acetone, arsenic, various acids, various enzymes, cyanide, various steroids, lead, mercury, etc.
Another explanation is that our macrophages do produce chitinase to attack fungal infections, so the enzyme in its minuscule amounts could be lysing the chitin present in their exoskeletons, slowly dissolving them from the outside in.

This is the second one I've seen about a hive-mind bug species killing human kids. The first one they caught and killed the bugs who did the attack, all but one- that one they sent home. Of course, they'd done a little surgery on it first, given it a little gift. In that story the species only had one queen, the mother of the entire race, whom that sole survivor was called to report to, and she and all her eggs and larva were killed then the nuke the humans had put inside him detonated. After that there was nothing to salvage of their species. They had no way to recover, no alternate queens or young princesses elsewhere. So like an ant colony that loses it's queen with no replacement, or a bee or wasp that ends up too far from it's hive to return, they simply died.
Oh, and by the way- that line towards the end nearly made me cry. (I'm a Daddy's girl, so anything about a father losing his beloved daughter hits me hard.) Good writing, kudos to the author. I liked the bit about that slow poison- I had wondered if that kind of twist was coming, but until the Thraxian swayed and seemed confused about it I wasn't sure. It reminds me of how Mossad hunted down the any remaining guards from death camps, and the terrorists who did that one attack that killed an Olympic athlete team. We humans can be relentless in the pursuit of retribution.

Finally a story that doesn't portray humans as altruistic and forgiving during total war. Way to many of these HFY stories say that humans forgive and forget the atrocities aliens did as soon as we beat them. In truth humans have a long and proud history of bloodlust and merciless vengeance and that was shown in wars between humans. So you can imagine that if some alien species commited atrocities and decleeard war on mankind, humans would settle for nothing less than TOTAL XENOS DEATH.

Well, looks like we used the good old ‘nam playbook.
We shoot the sick, the young, the lame
We do our best to kill and maim
Because the kills all count the same
    Napalm sticks to kids
    Flyin' low across the trees
    Pilots doing what they please
    Droppin' frags on refugees
    Napalm sticks to kids
See the kids jump and shout
Drop some napalm without a doubt
Watch 'em try and put it out
    Napalm sticks to kids
    Flyin' low and feelin' mean
See a family by the stream
Drop some napalm, hear 'em scream
    Napalm sticks to kids
This is the reward for a lifetime of service to the government
It made us feel so good inside
When the strong men wept and the women cried
But what we like is the children fried
    Napalm sticks to kids
    See a family over there
Watch me get 'em with a pair
    Blood and guts just everywhere
    Napalm sticks to kids
    Shootin' women's lots of fun
Try killin' one that's pregnant, son
You'll get two for the price of one
    Napalm sticks to kids
    Shoot civilians where they sit
Take some pictures as you split
All your life you'll remember it
    Napalm sticks to kids
Also this is an actual cadence and does not support my views but it is funny. For there are only two responses to be had, to laugh, or cry. I choose the former.

This was about 4 out of 10. Simply what held it back is humans were too advanced for any of these things to happen in the first place. They were smart enough to make dark holes but not smart enough to have an early warning system when an unknown sip enters their planet. Not even talking about how the military whatever it was was so easily invaded and the children were not smart enough to not realize how weird this was.

    Humanity should have a rule.
Aliens unalive one of our children, we unalive their species.
    Fair in my book.

I mean they probably should have scanned It was honestly their fault If they haven't been so prideful and hadn't attacked the woman the girl they probably would have survived if they had actually checked the aggression index and saw that it was labeled as unknown they would have realized Wait a minute either they've never been in a fight or everybody they fought died and nobody knows what they can actually do those should have been the two options because you attack a human child You got the whole of humanity angry at least the whole of humanity here on earth Do you broadcast that child dying constantly and you make fun of it laugh at it Oh boy nobody saving you then Even if they didn't insult in enslave or turn every other species they found in the meat and they did have allies who like them Who was going to stop us cuz clearly in this story humanity was pissed nobody would have stopped us except their internal destruction

Anyone else hate stories like this? Like “humans are the best just because” isn’t an interesting story.
I get that it’s HFY, but there are ways to incorporate what makes us human in these stories instead of just making us the strongest for no reason

    • @cpt.arctourus7950
      @cpt.arctourus7950 ปีที่แล้ว

That's why most of them explain there was a mercenary one I saw where the leader had to put shock collars on the humans cos of our ability fight almost endlessly without thinking so they had shock us to calm down or one where deleted a star with our weapons

    • @colinsmith1495
      @colinsmith1495 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I agree. HFY tends to fall into one of three groups:
Don't make Humans mad because we're really monsters, grr, arg.
Humans think in ways and developed things that the galaxy isn't ready for, like AIs or weaponized jump gates or nanite mass manufacturing - Humans take things to extremes
Humans are just weird - we can drink POISON and survive temperatures where our BLOOD SHOULD FREEZE and take MASSIVE IMPACTS and just HEAL and our immune system is BONKERS and ADRENALINE IS SUCH A DRUG and OMG LOOK AT THEM RUN HOW ARE THEY SO FAST and What Do You Mean Your Brain Resets Because You Walked Through A Door?
      The last are my favorites.
