Woodturning| An Ash Bowl with Stunning Textures and Finishes | Inspired by AGK Wood Works

In this video, I embark on an exciting journey of turning a bowl from a crotch piece of Ash that I meticulously processed over a year ago and have been seasoning ever since. Inspired by the craftsmanship of ‪@agkwoodworks3136‬ ( • Woodturning- How to T... , I decided to try out a unique texturing technique using my ‪@DremelUK‬ 8260 and the SC544 Speedclic wood cutting wheel. This project allowed me to showcase the intricate beauty of Ash wood and experiment with various finishes and techniques.
I began by staining the outside of the bowl with ‪@CrimsonCustomGuitars‬ Vibrant Stunning Stains in Mango, which beautifully accentuated the grain and highlighted the mesmerizing curls in the wood. Following this, I applied a coat of ‪@ChestnutProducts‬ Cellulose sanding sealer and Melamine Lacquer to protect and enhance the wood. To achieve a smooth and polished finish, I used ‪@EasyWoodTools‬ Yorkshire Grit (Original and Microfine) before sealing it all with Microcrystalline wax.
For the face of the bowl, I started with a layer of ebonising lacquer and then used the #Dremel 8260 for intricate texturing. To add more depth and colour, I airbrushed Chestnut Products Spirit Stains over the textured surface before proceeding to hollow out the bowl. After hollowing, I sealed the bowl and applied Acrylic Gloss lacquer to both the decorated rim and the interior. Once again, Yorkshire Grit (Original and Microfine) was used on the inside to achieve a flawless finish, followed by a final application of Microcrystalline wax.
Adding a personal touch, I engraved my logo using the ‪@SCULPFUNReal‬ iCube 10W Desktop Laser Engraver. This step was particularly challenging due to the complex grain nature of Ash wood.

Most of what I turn currently is ash as that is also what I have the most of in my shed... cannot moan about free wood.
