    Ehhh not a fan of it. Just keep a safe distance on your own. No need to rely on AI. I prefer to be in full control. Also, what if someone cuts you off? Can you really rely on this feature to immediately brake/readjust? No thanks.

      Previously, I would have agreed with you, but I tried a car that had this. Set it at +5 MPH on Hwy, so going about 75 MPH…. In the cars in front me, one driver cut off another, so the offended driver pulled in front of them and slammed the brakes at 75 MPH. I saw all of this occurring and was ready to hit the brake, but the automated system reacted faster than I could and safely slowed me down before any accidents could occur. After that experience, I decided that my next car would have a similar system.

    I have been using this feature to work commute every day on my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid, have found some issues of consistency. The issues are that when you are in a moderately crowded road if the car ahead of you speeds and stops at a light, DRCC fails to sense the stationery car at the lights, you either brake hard or turn off the DRCC and apply breaks - don't rely on the system to break on its own. This is all more significant when there are no illuminated brake lights from the car ahead of you. DRCC also turns off or fails to sense the traffic ahead of you in curvy roads, DRCC fails randomly and comes with an error 'connection with radar comms is lost' and turns of DRCC, The camera for collision control struggles on curvy roads and send you wrong signals of collision even though there are no vehicles ahead of you. I took the car back to service twice with my service center claiming no issues with the system. I'll keep updating my comments here to see how do I progress on resolving this issue.

    I have a 2016 Rav 4 and the dynamic cruise control is NOT helpful in slow and go traffic on HWY. Once speed drops below 28mph, dynamic cruise control ceases to work and you have to reset it. Another family member has the 2021 Prius Prime and the dynamic cruise control still works at crawling speeds and even a brief stop. Why can't there be a firmware update to may the 2016 Rav 4 the same as the 2021 Prius Prime?

      Hi, Hugh. We know how important your RAV 4 is to you. Our first recommendation is always to have your vehicle inspected at a Toyota dealership, as their technicians are our experts. They can also check for available software updates for you. To locate the closest dealer to you, please visit www.toyota.com/dealers/.

    • @LifeInZadar

      Yes, it does. It should even come to a stop. However, please be aware that this system has issues in heavy rain, sleet and snow (ie, it may not be able to detect a vehicle ahead of you) and if a vehicle drives across your path, perpendicular to you or just changing lanes, it may slow your vehicle down quickly, so be prepared to accelerate if there is a car driving close up on you.

    The automatic system that sets following distances is great when the roads are icy. Nothing like an invigorating crash into someone's rear end on icy roads when the following distance should have been 2 or 3 times greater than the pre-determined distances. I find it exciting to be on the highway when the roads are icy--you never know who in a Toyota behind you is going to crash into you if you have to slow down even somewhat rapidly.

      Hmm... I drove in sleeting snow over the holidays and my system was trying to work, but failed to detect the vehicle ahead of me. There was no indication that the radar cruise was unavailable, it just could not detect anything ahead of me because of the snow. On a coldish day, try taking the technician out for a spin and follow behind another vehicle to show them.

    What technology does this use? I rented a Corolla with this function, and during a sudden rain downpour, it completely lost track of the car in front of me. It started accelerating to my set speed and tried to ram me into the back of the car in front. Thankfully I caught it in time, but I'm interested to know how the rain affected the sensor feedback.

    • @joestewart8914
      @joestewart8914 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The system cannot see through heavy rain and/or snow. You will see a warning on the dash when the system loses the ability to see. Once the rain or snow stops the dash warning will disappear and your system will see again. Your car's system malfunctioned. Automatic operations are to cease in a system that is operating properly. To avoid this in the future disengage all automatic systems immediately if visibility is poor. You are responsible if a collision occurs.

    • @aneef
      @aneef 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually Cruise Control should never be engaged while its raining. It will cause the car to do Aqua-Planing (Hydro-planing) and the tyres would keep on increasing speed without keeping it within a limit. Read about Aqua-Planing to understand more.

    The dynamic system upon auto braking stops functioning at 40 mph. A warning buzz alerts you and that means you have to brake yourself. The system should NOT shut off Toyota at 40 mph!

    DRCC is a fantastic feature which does make driving easier & safer. It does have one quite annoying feature & that is the overspeed warning when the car exceeds the set speed by even a small amount. this will activate when going downhill. Is it possible either to deactivate this feature or to increase the speed at which it does activate?
