This video is wonderful and I will use it to help me max out my shovelry game! I would love for you to make more of the "How To Complete" series, I personally don't mind whichever one you do, but i'm sure there will be many request for certain games.
That was well put together and I really enjoyed it, so yeah, more of this would be awesome. And this will also show those non believers that think you don't complete games and just fake it.

There's a much easier spot to get the Mobile Gear achievement in Mole Knight's stage. As soon as you reach the first checkpoint, lay down the mobile gear, jump on it, switch to phase locket, and keep phasing to make sure you don't fall off. The platforms are arranged perfectly for the mobile gear, and there just so happen to be five enemies right in its path.
Also, there's an incredibly handy exploit to beat the game without dying: If you die, wait until you respawn and then pause and exit the stage. The game will forget all the gold you've gained or lost in the stage, as well as your deaths. This doesn't work on the wandering travellers though, so make sure you avoid them at all costs (you can enter and immediately exit a stage to make them move around). Also, even though the game forgets your deaths and accumulated gold for a stage when you exit, it won't forget your play time, so don't use this exploit when going for the speedrunning achievement.
good tips! And yes, the game keeps the time when you return to map, but when you quit to title screen, the in-game time gets reset to before starting the level. So actually, you can use quit to title screen to also cheese the speedrun achievement.

This series definitely fits your style. I hope you do more games, including ones from the pre-achievement/trophy era. The only thing I would have added is a statement saying which achievements you did on which run in order to help people optimize time. You said you got them all in three runs, so you could have put up a chart (maybe a table chart) at the end showing what your optimized three runs looked like.
You said that at the start of the video you were able to do this in 3 runs, I think it would've been nice if you showed us which feats you did in each run by some sort of graphic. That way people wanting to use this guide to help complete the game had something they could go to for guidance and structure? Solid video as always though buddy.
This was really awesome! Thanks for doing this. My only suggestion (not that it matters) is that it would be really cool if you could have a counter somewhere showing how many achievements you've done, and how many are left.

I have nothing but praise for this game--and I consider myself a very critical gamer. When I first heard the track for the file selection screen I knew right then I was in for something special. These kinds of games, kids, are why us old gamers got into video games in the first place: A robust 2-D side scrolling adventure with responsive controls and an unique shovel mechanic that is a throwback to the Ducktales classic. Yacht Club Games took all the best from the 8-bit era and made a memorable game. I even thought the implied romance between Shield and Shovel was awesome, and I can't stand love stories. Love how they made it into a love triangle with Black Knight, too. The story is surprisingly layered for a seemingly innocuous platformer adventure.
I REALLY dig the new show, dude! Reminds me kinda of those cool VHS guides you used to get from old gaming magazines back in the day. Man I'm old.
Keep these kinds of videos up Jirard, I feel that this format of show along with your current shows compliments the previous rather well and could very well keep regular viewers like myself rather entertained as well as satisfied. I also think you have a good knack for this format as well. Hopefully we'll see more in the future.

I think this is a nice little addition/distraction to add to your channel, especially since you're probably able to just do this from all your accumulated footage, I would consider it a great idea to push on with this series.
Definitely love this! Sometimes guides online are vague and confusing on how or where to get stuff, but seeing how to do everything on video with the gameplay makes things so much easier.

Yo, Beardman. For the Impossible! feat, it should be known that if you DO die, EXIT THE LEVEL.
When you exit a level it's as if you never entered to begin with. All of your gold will return and any deaths you had will be completely forgotten.

This is a fantastic idea!! Oh man, there are so many videos showing players how to accomplish achievements and get items and whatnot, but there are so few with this kind of polish and presentation. And we all know by now that you are an insane hardcore and competent gamer so the credibility checks out 100%. I really can't wait to see more! I'm just going to watch these videos instead of look up a guide haha.
I've got to say, I enjoyed this video! You should definitely do this for other videos. Personally, though, I think you should demonstrate how to complete the games you want to show off. Do this for the video games of YOUR choice, or those of us who don't care about your sanity will try to force you to recomplete Kingdom Hearts 2, including the Gummi stages, or to get the Big Boss rating on Metal Gear Solid again, or something insane like that.
honestly i gotta say i enjoyed this, i like the idea of seeing how you complete the games. granted they all dont have to be games you love as much shovel knight but i certainly recommend more videos like this of good games you enjoy :D

Note: I know this takes a lot of time expectantly games with 20-30 hour completion times. On top of your other show you may not have time to produce one every other week. But I think it would be a good time frame to do so you don't over do yourself.

I really think this would be a great supplementary series to accompany the main show, especially if the games have tricky or just annoying achievements to get. For instance, when I was playing Dead Rising 1, it took me FOREVER to figure out a route in the tunnels to get my kill count high enough for Zombie Genocider, and I've still yet to figure out a route that works for me in the sequel. I've looked at other guides and all, but they aren't all that helpful, and hearing your thoughts and how you found these routes or whatever would be really entertaining to me.
On that note, I would suggest that on some games, like Dead Rising 2, for instance, breaking it up into a couple videos, so you can show where each of the collectibles are, and how to get to some of the more hidden ones, as just showing static pictures or something would be kind of confusing in certain cases. But that's just my 2 cents. Great new show and I'm excited to see where it goes from here! :D

I liked the vid quite a bit. Was a good little introductory "how-to" for getting these achievements. I personally doubt I could get 100% of em, but it's neat to at least know how to get some of em now, without having to run off to a text-guide. :3

I really like the idea of this extra series, but I think it is important to tell which games to make a completion bonus for. I think this Shovel Knight is a good game for this, since what the game about has so much to do with how many of us got into games with begin with, but there are also other games that I think there are other games you've done episodes on that I would love other watchers to enjoy point blank.
I would love to see more of these kinds of videos. This is helpful in explaining and also acquiring these achievements.
You should consider releasing this series parallel to their upcoming completionist episodes.

While I would like to see more of this, I think it would only merit to games that are particularly exciting, engaging, or just have achievements (in game or otherwise) worth mentioning.

I really like this new idea for the channel. When I first started playing Shovel Knight, I had intended to 100% it, but after seeing what some of the feats were, I got a bit disheartened. After watching this though, I feel like I can.
That One Video Gamer I would love to see more episodes like this, I really enjoy this format and I would love to see you do some for games you've already reviewed (DK64!). But I was wondering have you tried any of the special runs using special names with shovel knight? If you name yourself SGC2014 or something you start with all relics and a timer. It's apparently for some sort of competitive speed run type deal. The stages didn't look familiar to me but I also haven't beaten the game. You might want to look some up and try them out, because I think Jirard would make a good speed runner.

I would prefer this just being future game reviews, although a couple past ones are fine. I still want to see you complete Custom Robo though, that's definitely an underrated Gamecube classic. And since you liked Spyro 1, you'll like Spyro 2, especially with its own completion bonus.

This was great! Whenever you feel like you need to point out specific details on how difficult completing a game was or how to attain completion, that'd be great. Diablo 2 might've required this treatment. :P

Nice companion video, i imagine very helpful for people who can buy the guy (Europe doesnt have it yet). A small side note, it might be helpful to list the achievements in the description with time stamps for people who stumble on to this video and want help with one specific achievement

One thing that would be useful (and a lot of extra work) is an index in the description with time-code links to each achievement.
Some more tips. the relect one is easy to do on the final boss at the start she tosses 3 slow than 3 fast orbs at you you can knock them all back and get in a few seconds. also beat any order knight full hp you can just get them to half a heart then use a full heal and a 10sec inv eyecore to make sure you get it 100% no worrys on any of them tho i did it on king knight myself .

Oh yeah, definitely keep this up. I'd love to see one on the first Dead Rising game. That had some hard as hell achievements. Also I don't find the speed run feat to be the hardest. Not nearly. In fact I was going to do a stream of it, and did a practice run that I took my time with to gauge the difficulty, and I accidentally beat the game in 1h 28mins.

With the hoop one, i found something amazing. If you have the supercharged hit and smack the hoop, it flies away and the child derps out.
Whatever happened to why we love games? I get it if it didn't work out like couldn't get guests and things but I personally loved that series! I have attachments to games, they got me though the rough times of my life. And I thought it was very cool to hear other people's stories on games and how it helped them. Like if you agree so the lovely Jirard can see :D

I love this! You should do one for Kingdom Hearts 2's Jiminy's Journal, that is a nightmare.
This is nice stuff. I am not usually a completionist- if fact I have gotten all achievements in only one game and that's because it was so damn easy - but I did enjoy this. I would love to see a video like this on Persona 4 Golden since there are two achievements - or actually trophies - in that game that drive me insane if I try to get them. Not to mention that Persona 4 Golden is the one game I would love to complete 100% same day, maybe.
Pretty interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing more in the future.

3:53 actually the best way is to go to treasure knights stage and after the angler mini boss go up to the room after the checkpoint and keep reflecting the anemones projectiles
Also for impossible and Perfect Platformer create a new game called impossible
Go through plains of passage without dying go buy whatever you want in the village park yourself near what level you will go to next pause the game go to the title screen copy impossible play your first impossible save file and if you die just play your second one and copy it if you die again just keep doing this till you get both achievements

I got 100% on this game recently with the last feat being music lover because when i saw this video it showed the remaining music sheets i missed. I thought of the ultimate Shovel Knight challenge. beat the game while trying for the all the following feats at the same time.
Hurry up,
Impossible,
Perfect platformer,
Penny pincher,
Checkpointless,
and finally True shovelry.
If you can in 1 run complete all 6 of these feats you are a Shovel Knight master. (" I myself got in one run all of those feats except Penny pincher because of Polar Knight.")
I got the True Shovelry, Checkpointless, Perfect Platformer and Impossible Feats all at the same time!
