This performance was breath-taking. The fact that it was near wasted on a group of kids who appear bored and unmoved almost adds to its majesty. These gentlemen have it down and then some. Ask them to do it again right after and it will sound exactly the same. It seems that practice does indeed make perfect or at least pretty damned close. Bravo.
I believe this is one of the greatest barbershop performances ever recorded.
The chord on “cry” at 2:55 is absolutely bonkers... Well, this whole SONG is bonkers. This quartet is an absolute treasure to our activity.

I am so impressed with the countertenor! So smooth and clear.
I'm 11 years late but idc, that's Tim waurick and he is certainly not a countertenor... Although he has several octaves of range he is a comfortable bass, Bari, lead, tenor, and countertenor... Versatile!!

The words of this song show the undying love of a father for his daughter - even after death. Beautiful job guys! Especially like that movement at 3:50 where the lead ascends while the base descends, which brings the song powerfully to its conclusion.

I just 'discovered' my interest in barbershop and acapella music. I'm looking for this kind of music in the minor key and weird chord progressions, but not sure where to look.
There are chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society in most cities. Go to www.barbershop.org and click "Find a Chorus" at the top of the page. We're everywhere! (You can also purchase sheet music and recordings there.)
I recommend that you check out Home Free here on TH-cam for some more amazing acapella harmonies. It's not barbershop, but is it fantastic none the less.

Vocal Spectrum always has the best arrangements, voices and presentations but not this time! The Kings Singers presentation of this piece is far superior to Vocal Spectrum IMO. Listen for yourselves.

I love this arrangement. I just wish there was a little less rubato from the group. It kinda kills it for me.
