Love the review! Currently on an Odyssey and definitely considering this since its basically a tighter Odyssey. If any SUV ever were engineered with sliding rear doors, I'd be all over it.
the back is just splendid when collapsed flat....the wind coming out of the video "sound" is an-nooo-ying"!!.....your review is thorough and excellent!!
Great review. We've been looking at the pilots for a while. The thing I liked most about the second gen pilot is that its exterior design wasn't a clone of other Honda models. This one's design looks just like a crv, accord, etc. Nothing wrong with an suv looking like a truck (referring back to the second gen), if people want something to look like a car, then buy a car. First world society has become a bunch of whiners. Its performance and interior looks invigorating though. Keep the reviews coming, sir.
Great review. We owned the 2014 MDX entry model. Unfortunately, it was involved in an accident. I've been anxiously waiting for the all new 2016 to be released. Just found out it will be available June 18th and production just started today. We're thinking about purchasing the EX-L model. I feel that the new Pilot compares so well with the current MDX as far as its standard features and pricing! Can't wait!
With the Pilot seemingly moving upscale, where does that leave the MDX? Similar story with the TLX and Accord. An Accord is just as nice and so much cheaper. Is Honda purposely cannibalizing their own luxury brand?
brorowcarwiz Well, a buddy of mine bought the MDX top of the line AWD, TECH, ADVANCE, WATCH PLUS for 50 thousand(7k off MSRP).. lets see how much the pilot elite takes to own
I hope this is just a phase until the next generation of Acura products role out. Similar thing happened to them in 2003. A 2003 Pilot isn't much of a downgrade from a 2003 MDX.
I have 2016 Touring. One thing I don’t like about it is in the winter when you’re stopped at a red light, the heat blows cooler air. This is even when the auto start stop is turned off. Good review.
I wish you could test the base LX or the EX trim, these will be the volume seller for the Pilots. As usual, the Touring and Touring Elite will languish on the dealer's lot because they are and always will be priced where someone with the financing will look at the MDX's, RX's, and Cayennes instead.
This popped up on my YT page and I watched it even though I bought a 2016 Touring 9 years ago. Excellent trouble free vehicle at 64K miles. Didn't opt for the Elite because we preferred a middle row bench seat and I didn't really want a pano roof. A few issues over the years: Disc player not reading CD's lately. Something dirty or misaligned because it only works if I use my cordless blower to blow into it for 10 seconds or so, then insert a CD. Road Mitigation Sensor problem once that cost $129 to reset at the dealer. No repairs needed other than oil and filter every 7500 miles and rear transaxle fluid every 30K miles. New Michelin Cross Climate tires at 35K even though the tread on the original tires was OK. (Great tires for NE Ohio winters and good all season performance)
Nice review! Certainly a great replacement for the outgoing model. One thing I did notice you saying alot is ACURA lol. Sorry to say Acura needs to step it up if hondas are this nice.
HydroDiffusionAMV "Sorry to say Acura needs to step it up if hondas are this nice" Be sorry as much as you like but Acura's are that better than Honda's. Honda's are this nice Acura's are that nicer than Honda's. Actually, the only bad thing about the Acura TLX is the German made transmission on the V6. So it is rather ambiguous what kind of criteria you are using on your remark.
Julian Bigay But not in reliability. 2015 Consumer Reports ranked Honda at #8 while Acura was at #11. Probably because Acura has the new tech first, and once they work the bugs out, Honda benefits from it.
cadsux Consumer reports has been so questionable lately. They've ranked Subaru's high on their list and yet JD powers has Honda still in the top 5 for dependability and Subaru is pretty low. The one consistent brand has been Lexus achieving number 1 both with JD powers and CR. Regardless, Honda and Toyota are consistently within the top 10, usually top 5 year after year. www.jdpower.com/press-releases/2015-vehicle-dependability-study
JD Powers also indicates that Honda is more reliable than Acura (#5 and #13 respectively). Isn't that what I said? Is that questionable too? JD Powers surveys about 30000 to 40000 car owners per year. Consumer Reports surveys over 1.1 million car owners per year, and they also conduct their own tests by buying and "living with" the cars in question. Other auto journalists simply "date" their cars instead of "marrying" them. JD Powers was established in 1968, but wasn't an auto industry standard until 1987. Consumer Reports was established in 1936. Both organizations disclaim that consumers should also consider other resources before buying.
...you are really good doing reviews .....!! everymandriver and you ....doing this reviews are really good and fun..!! always want to see more from you guys ..!!! thanks ..!!
These are really nice. Its like the big brother to the CRV now. I so want to get a CRV but I want a 6. The pilot is great but a bit large for my needs. Either way this is a great upgrade to the pilot.
For me, I don't mind the look of current Pilot, but the first generation definitely hooked me in. I loved my 2005 Pilot that my parents had back then, and just the look of the first generation just had a nice charm to it. Not too offensively designed, and just a simple look SUV. Nevertheless, the Pilot is just a great family SUV in general, and if I had the chance to drive one, I'd definitely consider it~
it looks really nice for a Honda I might consider this a choice of a new suv im curious how good the audio system is since I don't use radios; only usb mp3s
Maybe it was just me but either a window was down or the microphone was really sensitive because the car seemed really loud. My Focus is quieter on the highway. But good review!
I love this model, perhaps I gonna buy this in this year when it will be available in Australia, its look better than highlander, and pathfinder, one of my friend from LA he recon this is the best vehicle we can get in this segment, so I am looking forward, thank you for great review
Just saw this in person at dealership. It looks REALLY good in person. WAY better than the boxy one they were selling. Honda is gonna sell a bunch of these. It's not gonna be a great off-roader because it only has 7 inches of ground clearance but that is not the segment it is selling to. Get a JEEP if you need that.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the lack of a speedometer and the hard plastic on the rear door uppers. Other than that, I like it. The whole SUV/Minivan/wagon design convention I first saw on the new Q7 and then the MDX and this Pilot is growing on me. It's hard to get right, and Honda still did a great job
The Pilot's interior is in many ways, better than the MDX. It's got the panoramic sunroof, MUCH better infotainment system, and interior leather quality. At 11:54, Sofyan says that Honda made this car feel like an Acura- in fact, he nearly called it an Acura! This is REALLY bad....Honda's vehicles are getting more and more refined and luxurious, while Acura seems to be at a standstill. The refinement and interior luxuriousness of all Acuras on sale today are not even close to that of competing Mercedes and BMWs. THAT BEING SAID...I am incredibly hopeful for Acura's future, given what I've seen with the 2019 RDX prototype at the Detroit Autoshow earlier this year. My fingers are crossed that the production 2019 RDX being presented at the New York Auto Show tomorrow will be nearly unchanged from the prototype. If the 2019 RDX's design language and interior quality carries over to the rest of Acura's lineup, whilst keeping the traditionally competitive pricing Acuras have been known for, I can see some true hope for the brand :) *By the way, for those of you that might say I'm an Acura hater - I am QUITE the opposite. I have been ardent fan of Acura since I was a kid. Just visit my TH-cam Channel!! As a 22 year old, I want my first car out of college to be a used Acura TL, from the 2004-2008 generation, which in my opinion, was the best generation for an Acura 4 door sedan (the TSX of that era was amazing too!). A few years ago, I had faith and pride in Acura vehicles, and defended them against most of my friends who loved BMWs (we had friendly debates! 😂). But today, I think most hardcore Acura fans (like me!) will agree that the current "modern" Acuras have definitely lost their edge. But, I also hope that we can all still keep hope in Acura, because it appears as of now, they are slowly pulling themselves out of this hole :)
Hopefully Honda has upgraded the leather and made it much more durable than in the past. I have an MDX, my second one, and both of them had leather seats that just disintegrated in about 3 years and 60,000 miles of average driving with grandkids. Conversely, my Highlander seats lasted forever showing very little wear, and never splitting like the MDX's have.
I't great that the handling has improved, but if you are concerned about the strength and long term durability of your car, especially one that is supposedly able to go off road. Take a look online at the Pilots suspension since 2003, and then the 2016 models. 03 had large steel lower front control arms, then in 09 they went to aluminum, but were still close to the size of the steel arms. For 2016 Honda drastically reduced the size, amount of metal used, as well as changing the control arms design. I've studied suspension for 30yrs, and read a metallurgical report, stating that when aluminum is used for suspension control arms, the amount of aluminum and/or bracing should be increased to equal the strength of steel, also aluminum fatigues faster. But it appears Honda, and many other car and truck makers for that matter, are more focused on lighter weight and handling, at the expense of strength and long term durability.
I bought a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring new when it was given to me after the tour the sales man at the Honda dealership told me that they recommended premium fuel so for the past 4 years I’ve been fueling up with premium and is it really necessary I’m not sure because the dealership recommended premium so...
Hi, I love watching your videos! I love how you give a full on review on cars and give your honest opinion on them! I don't have a car & currently looking for one. My brother works for Honda and is really recommending me to get the Honda Fit. Can you do a full on review on the Honda Fit 2015? Also, what is your opinion on what is a good car to start off with? Oh! I also like the the Honda HRV, can you do a review on that one too? Thank you! :)
Redline Reviews Great Review! I'm certainly in the market. Maybe the Mrs. will go with this versus a minivan. What do you think Sofyan? Can this Pilot be a "people mover" like the Odyssey?

Pilot looks pretty nice. A lot better looking than the previous generation. By the way, if you get a chance to review the Fiesta Ecoboost, I'd highly recommend it.
Sofyan, 3 years later, how do you feel about the Pilot? Especially compared to the Highlander? I watched your Highlander review and it seemed like you were pro Highlander.
What was your problem of going back to show 3rd row seating space of this new 3rd row Pilot !? It looks like you have written an "Essay" without the "conclusion" !!!
@Redline Reviews Greetings from Boston, MA. Is Honda going to address the FM radio issue that all the new Pilot owners are reporting? They are reporting a lot of static and fading in all the FM channels. Also, the Idle-Stop function that is too slow and annoying to be of any use. Will Honda provide a firmware update to permanently disable the Idle-Stop function? Thank You.
Love the review! Currently on an Odyssey and definitely considering this since its basically a tighter Odyssey. If any SUV ever were engineered with sliding rear doors, I'd be all over it.

brorowcarwiz I agree, Honda's cannibalization strategy is strange to say the least.
Thats just one of the reasons why Honda and Acura suck, Toyota didn't make Lexus a Toyota with wood and led headlights
I hope this is just a phase until the next generation of Acura products role out. Similar thing happened to them in 2003. A 2003 Pilot isn't much of a downgrade from a 2003 MDX.
There's a rumor that the Lexus rx will get a third row variant next summer
My 16 Pilot rides through the abundant Midwest snow so well.
Feel like Legolas going around trucks that went off the road. Snow mode for life.
I have 2016 Touring. One thing I don’t like about it is in the winter when you’re stopped at a red light, the heat blows cooler air. This is even when the auto start stop is turned off. Good review.

Not at all, it took my parents 2 weeks to get their hands on one-they sell like crazy
I bought a Pilot Elite and my cousins bought an EXL
EXL is always the most popular for most of Honda’s vehicles
I love how y’all did the review in and outside of Cincinnati, Ohio . That’s my hometown !☝️🙌🏽
Rode in one today, vastly improved from the old model. I prefer the more simple dash design to the MDX. Quality interior, great build quality.
This popped up on my YT page and I watched it even though I bought a 2016 Touring 9 years ago. Excellent trouble free vehicle at 64K miles. Same thing is happening with nissan and infinity
califa sureño Infiniti*
I dont know why but Redline Reviews became my favorite along with Doron from TDS
Great detailed review.. didn't get bored watching this one. You def see a lot of the Mdx in the Pilot and as an Mdx fan.. i like it.
...you are really good doing reviews .....!! everymandriver and you ....doing this reviews are really good and fun..!! always want to see more from you guys ..!!! thanks ..!!
I'll buy the 2016 in about 3 years. When the price declines
+Breanna Ward I'll buy it in in 2 years when my old lease is over
+Afraz Yousuf i'll buy it in a month when my lease is over
Nice
Hope you enjoy it
Hope you have the car with you now
what's up with this new trend lately? SUV's are starting to look like vans on the inside.
This has got to be the best tank in the world.
Be buying it in 2 years. The ELITE one hopefully.
I like the old review where you have your camera on you holding it when filming the interior of the vehicle
Honda SUV lineup is looking much better now
Excellent review. I like the way you review cars.
These are really nice. Its like the big brother to the CRV now. I so want to get a CRV but I want a 6. The pilot is great but a bit large for my needs. Either way this is a great upgrade to the pilot.
Can't wait for the new Civic generation
Its been 7 years !!
2 generations came in between !!

I like this car, I like its technology, its interior is completely new, definitely I will go soon to the dealer and take the Honda Pilot 2016, yes
from the back look like Honda odyssey , question is why manufactures do not use a metal under front bumper for projection in SUVs ?
Kim kap might like this new honda pilot
I love this model, perhaps I gonna buy this in this year when it will be available in Australia, its look better than highlander, and pathfinder, one of my friend from LA he recon this is the best vehicle we can get in this segment, so I am looking forward, thank you for great review
As soon as you said I see other models instantly the rear end looked like the traverse and the qx 60 had a baby
whats with the pilot popping noise brake, everytime i back up my vehicle..it makes tht noise? Can you guys you do an explanation in the future?
Just saw this in person at dealership. It looks REALLY good in person. WAY better than the boxy one they were selling. Honda is gonna sell a bunch of these. why dont i see any Reviewer used the S mode in this Pilot while testing..?
Wait, you say cabin is quiet? What's all that wind noise I hear the car seems like its rumbling
Can you change the settings on the touch screen to make it faster?
Improvements at all areas.
In Canada the top tier Acura models carry "Elite" badges. Confused as to why they are now putting these on Honda products.
can't even use gas struts for the hood on the top of the model line "elite". gotta love cost cutting....

Hi i have a 2016 Lx my question is..... Are the LED strips from the headlights always supposed to be on?
What's the front crash test rating, still only 4 out of 5?
Hopefully Honda has upgraded the leather and made it much more durable than in the past. Fantastic Review ...finally Pilot getting more power but could hurt MDX sales?
i cannot understand why they didnt sell this in the UK we didnt get the honda element either
ok so whats the real difference between the touring and the elite? aside from the 2nd row 3 seat of the touring.
Fantastic Experience. Very well explained. Thanks
Whats the difference between 2017 pilot elite and 2016 pilot elite?
hate NOT having a volume knob!!! C'mon Honda what were you thinking?
The clear push button start was from the 2016 Civic sedan and coupe
Does it have a trailer hitch to pull my boat?
I like this guys voice
The vehicle looks a little congested in the third row when is the land cruiser 2017 coming out

GREAT PRESENTATION, I enjoyed your point of view as always.
I like your reviews. Well done and to the point! Kudos! The Honda Passport is definitely a winner!
I like this front to back inside and out
Great, thorough review, Sofyan.
I bought a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring new when it was given to me after the tour the sales man at the Honda dealership told me that they recommended premium fuel so for the past 4 years I’ve been fueling up with premium and is it really necessary I’m not sure because the dealership recommended premium so...
The back of the pilot looks like the audi q7
Hi, I love watching your videos! I love how you give a full on review on cars and give your honest opinion on them! I don't have a car & currently looking for one. Would you say it's as quiet in cabin as the MDX? Wondering if the acoustic glass and noise cancelation is the same.
I wonder what made them not do dual exhaust?
why does it sound so loud?? I can hear all the wind and engine noise.
Can you do a review on 2016 Chevy Traverse.. Their hasn't been any review since before the refresh in 2013 and you give outstanding review... PLZ
Is that a really quiet cabin? I can hear a lot of noise there, both wind and the engine.
My dad is actually debating between this or the new traverse
Your dad should get this car. It has more tech and more reliable. I would definetly go with the pilot.
Redline Reviews Great Review! I'm certainly in the market. Maybe the Mrs. will go with this versus a minivan. What do you think Sofyan? Can this Pilot be a "people mover" like the Odyssey?
Blue ray is standard on Odysseys since 2011 Elite models 6:13
Love the look of this Pilot and really wanted to buy one but that VCM cycl de-activation scares me. Maybe they have better motor mounts to stop vibrations but I'm afraid they will eventually wear and you will get the dreaded vibrations a lot of ppl complain about. As well other various other issues with VCM. Also do not want the idle stop/start feature. I rather they take both these features out and get 2mpg less average. No thanks Honda. Do not want.
I wish the Honda Pilot Elite have the automatic folding side mirrors when park
That intro was pretty tight!
Love your reviews, very detailed!!
Great review! How would you compare this elite model compared to the 2016 Acura MDX? Has this new pilot closed the gap?
front looks like CRV, and behind it as HRV , is it true ?? , but still good looking
Pilot looks pretty nice. A lot better looking than the previous generation.
By the way, if you get a chance to review the Fiesta Ecoboost, I'd highly recommend it.
Really nice suv, I just don't like they removed the center console arm rest.. I prefer those
A mixture between a Honda CRV in the front and Honda HRV in the rear
Especially those headlights and taillights
Sofyan, 3 years later, how do you feel about the Pilot? Especially compared to the Highlander? I watched your Highlander review and it seemed like you were pro Highlander.
I hate how they got rid of the dual exhaust on the new pilot
Was HondaPro Jason at the camera Sofyan?
What was your problem of going back to show 3rd row seating space of this new 3rd row Pilot !? It looks like you have written an "Essay" without the "conclusion" !!!
The CC is way off. See what it says at 12:42
it has paddle shifters?
what's the point of buying an MDX???
I wish the Ex trim had a power tailgate
Good review, but really wish you would have climbed into the third row.
@Redline Reviews
Greetings from Boston, MA.
Thank You.
6:49 what's in that bag down below?
Charlotte Motor Speedway?
Sounds loud inside when you were doing your driving impressions!
I really like it... Thanks for your review man.
When will the Honda Pilot come to New Zealand :l
What car/cars do you personally own and drive everyday?
The interior is nice but ... They should've kept the boxier rear the previous models have.
Which AWD handles better? 2016 Mdx or 2016 Honda Pilot?
Seriously? Acura has SH-AWD torque vectoring.
