Love all the techniques you shared. I agree with you that the fact that they’re Distress colors make them very special and very useful. Another idea-One crafter I saw put the pencil shavings in empty watercolor pans and eventually ended up with a 36 pan Distress watercolor palette.
@@DreamCraftCreate Good thinking! Have you tried it? I would think though that you would need a fixative spray after or mix into the palette a tiny amount of white/pva craft glue. That might/should be enough to fix the mica in so it won’t rub off.😊
It’s best to use the water brush directly on the bottom of the pencil rather than the tip, then you won’t lose your sharp point… same as with Neo 2 crayons 🤗🤗🤗
WOW! I love all these different steps for final result of nothing but beauty. You have made a great video. I do have 3 sets of the pencils and just are sitting in a drawer.
Just found your TH-cam channel. This video using the Distress Watercolor Pencils and your techniques is great! Super idea of coloring through a stencil.
I have all 3 sets & haven’t sat down to really create anything as of yet. Cool coloring into a stencil then adding the water & pressing with the embossing folder! I like how every method turned out, very versatile & great options depending on what mood you’re in to create! Nice job, l’ll try everything you demo’d! Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻💖🙏🏻🫶👍🏼
I really enjoyed your video. You very clearly described each technique and your images were beautiful! I wish I enjoyed coloring, but I find it a tedious task, no matter what type of coloring tool I use.
Waauw again an amazing video, thx so much, and your explanation to use the distress watercolor pencils is so cool, never thought about how easy it is that al the colors are the same as the distress inks 👍👀🤯
Hi from Adelaide South Australia 🥰🦘🦘🦘 Wow! I loved the video & love all the examples. TFS. I have paints, markers, inks, but will probably invest in a set. The more the merrier! Fun fun fun! 🖍️🖌️🖼️
I watched several videos after receiving these pencils as a gift and this video was excellent because there were several techniques no one else showed. well done. I did see a video where someone saved the shavings and used a little water and an empty watercolor pan to make pans for later use, it works amazingly
Thank you for sharing such great ideas! I watched several videos and your tips really resonated with me. It was nice to see some fresh new ideas to be creative and use the watercolors for cards. You’ve convinced me to buy them. 🙂
Great video with nice, clear instructions and wonderful comparison of the examples. Thank you so much!! I caved with the SSS/Ranger discount offered last night and ordered these, now I am even more excited to get them! 🧑🏼🎨🌻😀
These are lovely pencils. I enjoyed watching all the tips. I've not done the stencil technique with water color pencil... it was fun to watch you do it. The pencil shaving tip is fun, too.
Today is the first time I have watched one of your videos. You did a great job explaining, your voice is pleasant to listen to. I like your ideas, I did subscribe and will be back to watch more. Thanks.
I’m so glad I watched this video! I have ordered the set and am impatiently waiting for it to arrive! I have many of the oxide pads, very few of the regular Distress pads so I’m excited to get the pencils. TFS!
I was gifted set 1 today and I too, am glad I watched this video. I watched Tim Holtz' s video when these first came out but your style is more like mine.
Loved these ideas and your samples were soooo pretty... a while ago (I cant remember who) I watched a video and they kept the pencil shavings in the TH palette and dropped in some water and they became a water colour block....
Thank you for sharing. The card is beautiful I love the techniques. I was wondering if I should get these. I love me some water color pencils Thank you
Thank you for showing the ways to use the pencils. I just got mine this week and I swatched them and then thought, what now.. Did you use water color paper for the embossed images also?
I'm in Canada. I saw these in a local arts supply store. They have all three sets. Is there any one set you would recommend? PS I don't know how much you paid for the sets. Here, I'm looking at over $100Cdn (not including tax) for all the sets.
It sounds like they are about the same price there as they are here. They go for around $25 a set US. I think any of the three sets would be good to start with. Each set has a good variety of colors. 🙂
I just fill up the little tube with water. Once the brush is put back together, I lightly squeeze until some of the water comes out. Then I dab the water brush on a towel and start painting. I would start out by doodling on a piece of watercolor cardstock and practicing with different amount of water, etc. 🙂
Hi Carol. I do not have the crayons, but Tim Holtz does a basic overview of the differences of the products here: th-cam.com/users/liveqhGSsKjdw4c?si=K8myUw-6oo8OveB2&t=407 🙂
Hi, Ruth. I generally use the smooth side of Distress watercolor paper. I just recently purchased some Strathmore hot press watercolor paper. I’m trying to find something smoother than Distress paper. I’ll probably do a video with it in the future. 🙂
I must agree the biggest advantage of purchasing these pencils is that they combine with the entire product line which provides endless possibilities.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
This was the best video explaining these pencils. Love it.
Thank you so much! 🙂

Thanks! Great idea in the watercolor pans. That makes me want to try mixing the shavings with mica powder in pans for shimmer colors! 🤩

I haven’t tried it yet. Still on my mind though! 🙂

I'll have to try that next time. Thanks for watching! 🙂
That’s a great tip. No pun intended;). Not sure why I never thought of that.

Thank you so much! They are a lot of fun. 🙂 I’ve tried several water color papers now and they all come out different which is really interesting.

Thank you so much! Coloring is something that has grown on me over time. Especially once I started getting better at it. 🙂

Hi Kim. 🙂 Yes, I used watercolor paper. I hope you try everything and have some fun! ❤️
@@DreamCraftCreate I used a 3 d embossing folder and worked on that for a while
Nice! 🙂
I'm a complete newbie, can you tell me do you use special paper for doing this?
Hi Kathryn! 🙂 Yes, I am using watercolor paper. I try to list everything I use in the description box.
I'm in Canada. I saw these in a local arts supply store. They have all three sets. Is there any one set you would recommend?
PS I don't know how much you paid for the sets. Here, I'm looking at over $100Cdn (not including tax) for all the sets.

@Dream Craft Create I checked the exchange rate and you are right about the prices.
Do you fill the 'water brush' with a certain amount of water. I am just starting out and need some direction please.
I just fill up the little tube with water. Once the brush is put back together, I lightly squeeze until some of the water comes out. Then I dab the water brush on a towel and start painting. I would start out by doodling on a piece of watercolor cardstock and practicing with different amount of water, etc. 🙂
How do these differ from the distress crayons? I don’t have either one.
Hi Carol. I do not have the crayons, but Tim Holtz does a basic overview of the differences of the products here: th-cam.com/users/liveqhGSsKjdw4c?si=K8myUw-6oo8OveB2&t=407 🙂
This card came out so pretty and your coloring came out so pretty. Maybe will try the coloring the stamp first. Looks interesting. Tfs💜
Thanks, Emily! It's actually pretty fun to color the stamps. Nice not always having a black outline. 🙂
One of the advantages is some watercolor sets are very expensive, and you end up not wanting to use them in some ways.
That's a good point. 🙂
Watercolor paper?
Hi, Ruth. I generally use the smooth side of Distress watercolor paper. I just recently purchased some Strathmore hot press watercolor paper. I’m trying to find something smoother than Distress paper. I’ll probably do a video with it in the future. 🙂
I suppose I can use my crayons watercolor pencils.
I’m not sure if other watercolor pencils will work the same ways, but you can certainly try. Thanks for watching! 🙂
It would be nice to move in closer to your work. We would like see better. Thank you.
Thanks, Colleen. 🙂
