I was going to try to avoid buying Tim's watercolor pencils for a while because I already have so much stuff, but after watching Tim's live and now your video, I'm going to have to take the leap. TH-cam is supposed to be free, but somehow it always winds up costing me a lot of money. Why is that? 🤣

I have many sets of watercolor pencils. These are a big investment, but the colors are the main reason I’m finally going to take a loan out and buy the complete set

These pencils are certainly an investment. But I really really like the color palette and the distressed features. When I compare these to some other premium water color pencils I have, you get much more pigment or product to work with. I am not paying for the wood that most watercolor pencils are encased in. These are totally usable product. Not turned into shavings and thrown into garbage. So really they are not a bad value for the money I cannot say I will give up my other water colors, gouache, Japanese water colors or good water color pencils. Why? Because they are all different and you achieve different results with them. I was gifted one e box. So I will be investing in the rest as well.
Agree, it is an investment but at least people can buy a tin at a time for their budget and as you point out the whole thing is pigment so no waste. I love the colours. I don’t have any of the last sets - yet 😉

Oh, I’m so glad to meet you! I hope you have lots of videos, I will definitely enjoy getting to know you! I have seen your work in TH videos, but I didn’t even know that you weren’t American! I visited the Netherlands for 9 days when I was 6 years old (back in the dark ages) while my father was doing research at the university! I climbed all the way to the top of a windmill & ate the best strawberry jam I have ever had! (Those are 2 different memories, I didn’t eat the jam at the top of the windmill, haha!)! Thank you for giving us so many different examples of how to use the pencils, I have the first set, but not the 2nd set, yet! I also learned something else, I never thought to trace the design of a stencil through a piece of paper! All your examples are so lovely, I will try these techniques myself! I really loved your Time-lapse and just strictly showing the technique and your finished product…. I personally have limited time in crafting that I need to see tutorials in a quick and concise manner and if I need to slow it down the settings, allow me to do so.

Printmakers soak their paper in water before printing so the paper pulls the ink/pigment into the fibers of the paper. 😊 It's saturated but not totally dripping wet.

Looks so nice. And is fun for me cauae i usually use my stamps with regular watercolor and have the same efect, as if i paint it. For me is a big yes to decorate my journal 🤗

Love these ideas. I also love the Tim Holtz watercolor pencils. I especially love it when you bring your artwork to the camera. It is hard to see how beautiful it is down at the table. Splatters are becoming one of my favorites techniques. You can’t see how much it adds on the video unless it’s closer. Thank you for sharing.

My watercolor paper always wants to dry with waves or curls. Do you dry it a special way to keep it flat?
You can let it air dry or dry it with a heat tool. The paper can buckle, but then I lightly spray water on the back of the paper and put it underneath a heavy stack of books 👍

I always have some waterdrops on my craftsheet, so when I need the pencils to be more wet I can do that at the go
