    ► Our Website: mechaniclifesty...
    Hey guys, in this video we will show you how we bleed the cooling system antifreeze on Land Rover Discovery 2. We demonstrated on a 1999 Land Rover Discovery with 4.0 V8. Always make sure that you use gloves when working with coolant and eye protection. The cooling system might be under pressure especially if it is hot. Make sure that you bleed the cooling system good or you might overheat the engine. Some years and models might differ.

    Man no matter how well I bled mine I just came to the conclusion that when you're in 100° climate it's going to run over 200° constantly and that won't kill it but I would prefer to be at 180 190 so I got the inline thermostat mod and wow instant Perfection no bleeding it just works I don't touch it the levels never change

    omg good bleed explanation but come on man green coolant. I own 4 land rover and the best coolant for them is the pink pentosin sf. it's new tech compared to o.e. havoline. it's so much better I regular change coolant every 15k and since I put all my rovers on pentosin in 2013 I haven't had a single cooling issue of any of my rigs. dexcool is garbage and green coolant causes extreme corrosion even if you change often as it is not designed for the varied types of metals and plastics in a land rover

      Actually green is recommended by many Rover enthusiasts as the orange dexcool is supposedly also a contributing factor to slipped liners later on in the 4.0 and 4.6 V8s

    • @anthonyfrantzis2540
      @anthonyfrantzis2540 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. That green stuff will cause it to overheat. It's cheap and definitely not what any experienced person with a Rover will put green cap coolant

    • @ad1das41
      @ad1das41 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man mine had pink colored in it (still) and went to to buy some and they recommended the green one.... but it's now leaking from somewhere to I'll have to drain and replace.

    Ok. Congratulations on your video.
    You changed the new coolant, but where did you get the old coolant, was it removed by the rubber tube under the radiator?
    Thanks

    Hi guys. Another good video. I’ve been a sub for a while now abd enjoy yere channel. I have an American 2003 4.6L petrol. Discovery 2 , With 96k miles on it. I only use it in the summer in Portugal. Ie very warm weather. It’s had no engine head gasket or any major work done to it. I change all the oils and grease what needs to be greased. I take it a little off road nothing too heavy. Ie beaches and forests.i read a lot about the discovery’s over heating. my question is , is there anything ye recommend that I could do to prevent this and improve the circulation of coolant, ie , upgrade the thermostat to a TD5 stat or install some sort of a monitor system to check of the engine temperature????? Would I be wasting my time and money. ? For the record I have the disco 7 years and it has never failed me once. I do find though that when I driving it it is quite hot.keep up the great videos.

    Pretty sure that yellow ring around the expansion tank reads OAT coolant only also known as Dexcool also lift the upper radiator hose out of the two notches when bleeding

      The orange Dexcool sucks. it's best to swap for HOAT coolant.

  • @scottsabron

    That's the right technique but doesn't the manual call for orange DEX-COOL / Havoline XLC?

    • @bmxdenver1
      @bmxdenver1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott von Umlaut you can convert to a green or pink, lots of rover guys say DEXCOOL eats away at the headgaskets, but GM motors can go to 200k with stock headgaskets running the orange stuff, I personally always run the orange and never had a problem, if you switch make sure to flush the system never mix coolants
