Without a doubt, this woman was one of the best things that happened to the rock movement in the 2000s. Her band came into being when the rock n roll movement was already 8 feet deep into the mainstream, Momsen could have chosen to make any other kind of music, but she rescues classic, old school rock n roll in her songs.
A powerful voice, deep lyrics and good heavy guitar riffs, may Pretty Reckless succumb to rock again.
    Momsen is a iconic.

They play their first live show in over 4 years when their tour starts Apr 1. As you probably know, they were the opening band for Soundgarden in 2017 when Chris Cornell died. 11 months later they lost friend and producer, Kato Khandwala, to a motorcycle accident. When they were finally ready to get back to music, the world shut down.
You've done 2 songs of their latest record now. I recommend trying an older song next. Either their first single, Make Me Wanna Die (she was 17 when this was released), or their first #1 ,Heaven Knows (from second album)

I've loved TPR ever since their first single. Taylor's voice is just stunning. She might not have the operatic high notes of some of the other singers on the channel, but the sultry (and often sensual) tone she has is amazing. You really should check out their very first song "Make Me Wanna Die" - it's another catchy one and when you hear it (studio version) it is hard to believe the singer is only 16 years old! (She was 16 for pretty much the whole recording of the first album I believe).
Also interesting the you should keep referenceing Lzzy Hale as she and Tay;or are really good friends - apparently they met up online for 'virtual cocktail hour' a couple of times per week during lockdown!

WOW.... Love your take on this rendition.... it makes me look at the way I sing... and on this video i learnt so much...so thanks for that..
I will say your born with a voice.. and there isnt a lesson out there that can make you sing like this.
Your perceptions are wonderful to watch because although technical analysis...you recognise the passion that is required.
    Good job.

I'm discovering fantastic songs and bands I didn't know existed, through your channel. This song immediately reminded me of Black Velvet by Alannah Myles--another song that is worthy of your review.

  • @SixFootTurkey_

Love the thumbnail LOL. Taylor is phenomenal! You should check out the songs where her guitarist Ben joins in more -- his voice is very cool and pairs wonderfully with Taylor.
Their acoustic performance of "Sweet Things" at AXS Live, or "Cold Blooded" for THE SESSION are really awesome slow, sultry tunes.
But I'd even more interested for your perspective reaching farther back to 2011, when their band was still fairly new and Taylor was just 17. Their acoustic performance at Le Figaro Live in Paris was stunning. Her talent then was crazy and it's cool looking back to see how her technique has been refined.

I already thought this was an awesome performance vocally, but you let me know how aware she is of her body and how she’s able to place her voice in different areas her her face. Truly talented. It’s probably instinctual.

I have been literally haunted by Taylor's voice ever since I first heard her sing. Her voice is, gorgeous. Like she's one of these people you could literally fall in love with based solely on her voice. I'd never, ever get tired of hearing it. It's almost, dirty, like in a not so innocent way.

Love Taylor's voice! It's so badass! On another note (pun intended): We need to hear Elisabeth reacting to Funeral of Hearts by HIM live at the Orpheum! I went down the rabbit hole of looking for good live clips of great songs I wish to see a reaction to and I just realized that there are barely any HIM reactions! Everyone needs to hear Ville Valo's voice.

I love how if she doesn't hold her headphones down to her ears, her face and voice are going to send them flying! Taylor is amazing in many ways and is a legitimate Rock and Roll artist that should be respected as such! So many people hate but she and the Pretty Reckless are absolutely amazing! Great reaction video to an awesome song!!!!

This was brought up in the premiere's chat: Larkin Poe. They're an American blues/rock band, fronted by the Lovell sisters (Rebecca and Megan). Those two ladies have released a series of acoustic cover songs on TH-cam. For a while they were doing one a week, so there are a bunch. Great stuff. (They also have several records of original songs.)
