Great video. I automatically choose 4k ultra which works fine since I have a high end gaming laptop, but I'm going to try the low option to see the difference.
Hey love your videos very informative.. I am new to gs pro and using my projector how do I decide what screen resolution to use? Right now I just guess because it’s beyond my knowledge.. if it helps my screen is 8’x8’
You’re gonna have to run a custom resolution. I believe there’s some videos on TH-cam that’ll show you how to set it up. So you will start with 1080p or 4k, whatever your projector is and then you’ll have to narrow the resolution to fit your screen. Hopefully this makes sense.
Do you find this still to be the case, now that you have a large screen and projector? I am trying to optimize my setup, not the best computer, and a cheaper projector (1080). Would using the Z and W keys also help?
I just switched over from E6 running an old Mac laptop in bootcamp. I'm getting a tiny bit of lag and a D:59 warning at the bottom, but not enough of an annoyance to drop $1k+ on a new computer. I do wonder what graphics difference I'm missing though. Thanks for the vids!

@@TheGolfNerd you don't actually need a high end gaming pc to play gspro. My setup is very basic and the card is in no way shape or form intended for gaming. But as I said, I can play every course on gspro lite and the majority of them work fine on the low setting as well.

Hi, do you ever experience tree colors and tree shadows quickly appearing and disappearing during flyovers - or shrubs and grass suddenly appearing within view as the flyover advances? I have a gaming PC and 4k tv more than capable of meeting spec requirements, but I don’t see those visual characteristics in your flyovers.
I definitely see those but it does depend on the course. On an easy running course like whistler Nicklaus, it’s not bad at all. At Boston country club it’s really bad. Curiously I’ve noticed the new courses using the new unity software are better, like the new Augusta course renders very quickly. Hope this helps and thanks for reaching out!!
@@TheGolfNerd thanks for the reply. I have zero “gaming” experience, so my expectations may have been unrealistic in thinking that all graphics would be crystal clear and perfectly smooth. That said, the graphics are excellent in general, but you can quickly go down a rabbit hole scrutinizing over every spec, detail, PC/TV setting, and forum chatter to drive you crazy when you’re someone like me who is just getting started with golf simulation.

@@TheGolfNerd I have tested a lot of courses at the above setting and only 2 so far won't run Sawgrass and Augusta but they both run at 1920x1200 low setting. That way if they keep tweaking the graphics higher I still have the release that runs on my setup. If I don't want the course I just delete it from my folder.
@@TheGolfNerd Looks like they took off the check marks on V2 so I guess the courses update automatically. This could cause a lot of users with low end pc problems as these developers don't seem to optimize their courses. I did contact GSPro but haven't had a response.
It might have something to do with your native resolution. I would check your window settings to see what your current resolution is, I think you might find it is below 4K. Hopefully this helps! Haven’t run into this myself.
Anyone know why 3840 x 2160 does not show up on the list of options? My monitor and projector are both running 3840 x 2160 resolution but the highest option in gs pro is 1920 x 1080
I have two thoughts. What are your windows display settings at currently? And are you selecting gs pro in a window at start up? Both of these might affect your possible resolutions.
@@TheGolfNerd so my father has a 4k projector and a 1080p touchscreen monitor. He was duplicating the displays within the windows settings in order to control gspro with the touch screen. I did some work and figured out that it is forcing gspro to play at 1080p since the monitor is limited to that. Once extending the displays, you can select which monitor you’d like to play on and then more resolutions are available when playing on just the 4k projector! Also, thank you for the quick reply!!
