If the rule against beards is unscriptural, then it has always been unscriptural. The GB should apologize for making and enforcing an unscriptural rule for over 100 years. I was even told that I could not help at the literature counter because my sideburns were to long. But of course we know that they won't apologize.

While the GB claim they are neither inspired nor infallible, their refusal to ever apologize for _anything_ betrays that claim as a big pile of bovine residue:
_"Refusing to admit our mistakes is _*_like claiming infallibility’_*_ ...No one can maintain the respect of others if he insists that he is right even when confronted with an obvious mistake. _*_How can anyone have confidence_*_ in a person who he knows from experience will even _*_sacrifice the truth just to give the appearance that he is right?"_* Watchtower 1988 12/1 p. 22

Referring to the rhetorical question posed at about 1:30, or so, in this podcast-why would an “intelligent person”.
That’s the point, NO intelligent person would think/speak that way! As to why ANYONE would do so…well there are many mentality challenged people, and many reasons for that state of mind 😆…

It's even worse than uniformity. As WT attorney Hayden Covington admitted in court (the 1954 Douglas Walsh Trial) regarding WT's demand that all JWs accept WT false prophecies and doctrines,
Prosecuting attorney, Q. _"A unity based on an _*_enforced acceptance_*_ of false prophecy?"_

True fact. Rutherford and Knorr hated beards so much they even had Jesus clean shaven for a number of years in the publications. The real reason Rutherford changed his view on having facial hair was because of Russell. Rutherford had to purge the Society of most things related to Russell, especially considering that everyone still looked to Russell as the faithful slave. When Rutherford published that the faithful slave was a class of people (the 144,000) in the August Watchtower of 1927, he systematically expunged Russell, his writings, the cross and Christmas. Also, Rutherford had a more CORPORATE-MINDSET, than a spiritual one. The majority of the mandates/rules/regulations of the watchtower is based on his ideology (mainly personal and not scripturally based).

The governing body causes divisions then condemns everyone else by gaslighting them to stop causing divisions, which they never caused from the at all, but the governing body causes by constantly changing the goal posts and calls all who don't go along with the changes apostated or divisive. Psychological violence is not in the criminal code or the provincial code or the regional acts so it's jyst fine for the watchtower to drive everyone in their society crazey.

Eric, excellent job on this video. I have dealt with this for many years. I am especially disturbed by the lack of an apology for the damage this policy has caused. I became inactive a few years ago and decided to try to reactivate myself after nearly a year of not going out in the ministry. During this time I grew a well trimmed beard. When I showed up one Saturday morning ready to go in the ministry, instead of experiencing the love and excitement that the congregation should show for a “ lost sheep “ who was trying to return, I had people telling the elders not to assign them to be in the same service group as me or my family. When I found out about it and asked the elders, they stood by the people who were offended by me and acted like I was the problem. Modern day Pharisees. Thank you so much for your videos and the great work that you are doing.

As an elder (with a mustache) I was told that white men could not have facial hair!!! I left that congregation about 40 years ago (but not over the mustache). It was controlled by an Alpha Elder (former CO) and his deputy Alpha elder, his son-in-law and former Bethelite. I wrote the WT society about many improprieties taking place. "Headquarters" did not respond to me but forwarded my letter to this Big Shot who told us that he just threw my letter into the trash and none of that other elders would ever see it or any other letters I might write. By then, I saw the Wolves that Jesus warned us about and I was done with them. But my wife (and assistant) called the HQ in New York but she was promptly hung up on! Then she called our CO who refused to talk to her. Recently we were relieved to hear that after we left that congregation, all of those "Elders" were removed (along with some good but passive (fearful?) elders, and the entire congregation was "disbanded." Sadly, the problems were much wider than I could have imagined, eventually involving lies, slander, cover-ups, adultery, molestation, incest and suicides. But at least those "Elders" were UNITED when they were removed. Unity is not good when you are united in evil in a pack of wolves.

You nailed it Alpha male decides everything that happens in the congregation who is appointed to serving position's who has the so called privileges for do other assignments.
The sad part is they always say the elders are different ages and from diverse walks of life.
Which is laughable because they are irrelevant because long term Alpha male makes all major decisions and the less experienced newly appointed are scared of losing their privileges so they meekly go along.
Then we have other elders who have been serving but won't tell Alpha male he's not being very humble which as we know is wrong if I see or feel someone isn't doing the right thing we should speak up .
The same with disfellowshiping the decision was already made before the meeting.
Thankfully I saw through this nonsense but wasted so much time.
But they did get the religion a snare and a racket right.

I attended the International Convention in Montreal during the summer of 1978. We saw men with full but well groomed beards. We were told they were elders and beards were accepted in that area. I guess not. This organization spends too much time on mundane issues so they don't have to address the really serious issues!

I was told I couldn’t be an elder and go congregation too congregation too give talks because I had a super low beard.now my beard is medium and I’m already remaining in Christ too the full.Thats all you need, he is the way the truth and the life unblemished and you don’t have too worry about narcissistic religious men telling you what God says too them to only end up looking like a hypocrite. I always asked them why they got Jesus looking like a lumberjack man with a beard when the scripture says Jesus was basically opposite from
Handsome . They had Jesus ever so handsome with a big beard and European hair, mind you this is called being a stumbling block too those who want too serve God even if mistakenly thought this was a place of true worship, telling a individual who God is drawing bear they can’t preach the word too other congregations because a beard they have in which wasn’t even half a inch long is terrible thing one can do . And that’s just one true story out of many I’ve experienced with this publication organization. “That’s all they are too me now” just a hypocritical over righteous institution… I hope and pray believers come too Christ because it’s him that’s leads the way too Jehovah … not group of men saying we are directed from God . God would never begin work of his with a false prophet too begin with why? That’s gives his children an excuse on not too trust him , God does and gives anything and everything too begin with-with his creation too trust him…therefore as the scripture says don’t put your trust in men but rather put your trust in the Lord…

This organization has occultic beginnings, and those origins are STILL present. What is the principle? If the root of a thing is poisoned, so are the branches? If Peter could be influenced by evil to tell Jesus Christ that he would not suffer and die, if a spirit could enter Judas and have him, also an apostle, betray the Christ, then why do we think it's far-fetched for these men to ALSO have demonic influence?

In commenting on this issue I have periodically grown a beard since I was fifteen. That first attempt at personal choice was met with a strong and public rebuke by a congregation servant who was the father of my then bestfriend, so I shaved. This was before the acknowledgment of the fact 'by the organization' that Jesus Christ had a beard in compliance with the Mosaic Law. Over the years since then when not constrained by serving as either a ministerial servant or elder I freely grew a beard with little interference, though from time to time one elder or another would make a comment or 'suggestion'. On my next birthday I will be seventy two.
Needless to say I've experienced all the controversies spoken about in this video 📹 personally. What they are now up to is certainly a subject to contemplate, I look forward to that next video 📹.

Back in the 1930's, 40's and 50's men who wore beards were seen by city urban duellers as being uncivilized backward farmers, poorly groomed, this is not the appearance the GB men wanted their subjective door to door representatives to look like. Likewise men with hair over the ears which was quite common in the 60 's and 70's . Around this time the GB men were setting about how their devoted men followers, including elders and alike were to look like in the eyes of the public.
There was a presenting righteous image these men were tying to create and promote , not only to men but to women as well.
Now that they the GB men realize the number of participating people has deceased by 15 to 20 % in most modernized countries they are starting to loosen their rules and regulations for the members.

The Branch, Society, Mother or however they want to be addressed is good at one thing: Deceit.
There’s an expression: when u point the finger at others, three fingers are pointing back at you.
I’ve read countless articles as a born in of them highlighting and exploiting what The Catholic Church have done; yet, they themselves have or are currently doing, & in some cases at a grander level (CSA), the same as The Catholic Church.
That WT presented in this video, highlighting the difference between Jesus & The Pharisees was literally about them! The arbitrary, trivial rules THEY set that “comes from God”, calling themselves Guardians of Doctrine or (G.O.D), putting themselves as substitutes for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20 NWT), & dictating to its members what is and what’s not appropriate on PERSONAL matters, all the while taking zero responsibility for the harm they cause b/c they say they r not inspired or infallible or worst yet, pretend like they never said x,y,z.
The GB gets away w/ making vague statements, so that it’s not explicit, but it’s filled w/ implication. This is their loop hole for policy changes, & gaslighting the organization’s members into thinking they misread or misinterpreted things on their own accord.
I used to feel sorry for my parents who are still apart of the org, but my mom, after telling me I was dead to her for showing secular, archeological, & biblical reasons why I disassociated told me something chilling: She doesn’t care what the organization says or does, it’s from Jehovah, and she knows it’s the right way.
Hopefully something like this would wake them up, but these men have convinced a good portion that they truly speak for God, which is why some have echoed “what a loving provision by the GB.”

The reason why JWs collectively or individually don't point out discrepancies or teachings that might be unscriptural but camouflaged as scriptural ( or as directed by the GB who say they are NOT inspired but you must treat our words AS IF THEY ARE inspired) is because the collective have accepted that the GB MUST be the channel that Jehovah/Yahweh is using because... well, the GB says so and therefore whatever they are saying, no matter how unusual it might sound or contradictory, they MUST be correct. But the GB will say ... "oh we are imperfect men so sometimes mistakes will be made" ....but has anyone EVER seen any admissions of mistakes ...ever? No, because they are not considered as "mistakes"-rather they are seen as " unclear truth" waiting for the brighter light to eventuate, which of course in the fullness of time often becomes false light and false teachings (as an example many of JW teachings pre 1940 are now firmly classed as "false" doctrine and anyone that dares to promote them is dealt with via the code of disfellowshipment) . As was the case with the 1975 fiasco, it took many years for the JWMinistry of Truth to even acknowledge that statements the WT made were misleading. The fact is that in the minds of the JW collective, they do not believe that the GB would make false pronouncements - deliberately or unintentionally- in any shape or form- such is the psychological power in the role of the GB. The GB can literally say ANYTHING and the collective will believe it without question sayings simply its just " the light getting brighter as per Proverbs 4:18 and its Jehovahs spirit behind it. This is classic George Orwell's "1984" live in action before your eyes. As to why these changes are happening now, the recent pandemic threw a massive spanner into the works of the JW and they will not officially show or expose the ( probable dramatic) downturn to the collective ( as reduced preaching hours and literature placed etc) as the elite leadership would know that psychological impact on the collective could be catastrophic for the survival of the organisation. No its better to say " we no longer know what preaching hours are being done" than to say " our statistics show that its decreasing at a fast rste"

Escaped the Tower 10 years ago, after being captive for 12 years. DF twice couldn't see myself going back after last. I had always asked the beard question to the elders and WT, since they bugged me about my Law Enforcement career, carry a weapon, blood guilt potential, blah blah blah(34 years of service and counting). Yup, those 1960's rebels' beards hang on their faces, like banners of societal disappointment. It grows naturally like the real truth, breeds confidence and positive demeanor. However, the Tower preached it must be cut, and cleaned up, like the hopes of All JW's and friends. The Tower participants and captives can't go around looking like Russelites now can we Judge Rutherford. Now, 2024 The Tower has "Allowed" the swag of the beard to walk its hallowed halls of Bethel once again, but the friends better not say Shit!! because we know what's right for our sheepeople. Perhaps The Tower in another decade or two, may stumble in the "Truth" and find the Bible does not direct, condone or direct its organization to practice Shunning of its members family etc. This is a mind control method used and practice in cult entities and never has it been scriptural or decent on any level, but maybe just maybe, I might get my family back.

You d"ont practice "unity" when others "go along to get along" when "unity is in defiance of the command by Christ NOT to teach the "commands of men" or "human traditions." That is what the legal, corporate term "policy" is. Watchhtower policy is a set of corporate rules that seek to treat people fairly and impartially and also to avoid liability. Those who "followed the crowd to pervert justice," caused each other to be held captive to and enslaved to "a snare and a racket." Others formed a relastionship with the mind and heart behind scripture instead. They hated me and shunned me 40 years over stupidities beards, mustachhe, pant dress, pant suits, stripped clothing and for me personally the tie. They should have united over whhat thhe scriptures say instead. It says to the liberal and conservative to the hebrew and the greek, "Rather be RECEIVING one another." "Rather be accepting one another". That was Paul"s conclusion. They still don"t know this. Instead their explanation is, "The governing body has decided... Both 1st and second Corinthians expresses both the point of view of "those who abstain" and "those who give thanks for the freedom that they have in Christ." Forged Iron and mixed clay CAN coexist peacefully. American citizens might get along better if they heeded chapers 5 to 10 of both letters.
