Never worked there but I did order ‘The big one’; A promo pizza that was a meter in diameter!
We had to order on a seperate website and order days in advanced at a specific time.
I get to domino’s on the fabeled day and ask for my big pizza. They replied in quiet awe “you’re the one”, like I was the messiah. Every worker somehow heard this softly spoken man and ceased operation just to come to the counter.
Four of them went into the back and march out the meter wide pizza box bursting in excitement.
Putting the pizza on the countertop they politely asked. “Could we take a photo”
I said sure and they took a photo of me and the pizza and then all of the domino’s workers came out to take a group photo. They said I was the first ‘big one’
This historical moment was almost ruined by the fact I couldn’t get the pizza through the door of the domino’s. The workers then took the pizza off me to ferry it though the door. Where I preceded to walk home, through inner west Sydney, with massive pizza.
I’ll never eat their again, but we’ll never forget ‘the big one’.

My friend was working at a McDonalds here in Adelaide when a man went through the drive thru, ordered, but had his head out the window as he hit the accelerator and snapped his neck between the restaurant wall and his car... He did not survive. Apparently the restaurant continued operating as normal in store while this dude was sitting limp in his car blocking the drive thru while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

okay so i worked adjacent to Dominos here in the USA. my boss was an ex-Dominos simp who started off at 13 years old sticking flyers under windshield wipers for free slices, and festered into one of those managers that travels from store to store to tell them how they suck. he finally quit to open his own pizza shop, and admittedly had a good pizza recipe going. But he overloaded the menu, especially for the tiny kitchen we operated out of. pizzas, subs, pastas, deli, fried stuff, burgers, salads, steak tips...way too much. The building itself was also disgusting, with previous owners putting down layer after layer of linoleum to cover up holes, until there were holes that poked through to the basement. There was actual garbage mushrooms that would grow near the dishwashing station, and we had to just dump bleach on them. it culminated in the Health Inspector telling the owner he had to fix his floor asap. Owner made up a lie about some contractor and got all of us to come in and help tear up the floor, but then halfassed the whole process of putting down the new flooring to try and rush it along. never used spacers for new tile, and never put down any grout, so instead bits of mushed up food that fell between the tiles and got stamped down became the new 'grout'. the shop closed during covid, but not before myself and other ex-coworkers foiled the owners' plan to just lock the shop up for good without telling his remaining staff or paying them. Fuck you, Josh.

Fast food adjacent, I used to work for DON (they put the bacon in our burgers and the kabana in our delis among other things) and the amount of violations I witnessed over my two years of working there will stick with me for the rest of my life.
So much machinery left un-sanitised, so many hundreds of kilos of meat dropped on the production floor and tossed back on to the supply belt (keep in mind the floor was always damp and had contaminants like dirt, loose screws, plastics, motor oil, cracked concrete, and all sorts of meaty liquids and allergen powders), so much mixed-meat contact that went unregulated.
People threw meat at eachother almost daily, with the sole purpose of soiling someone else's uniform, or equipment, or coating their protective eyewear to blind them. There were days of flooded ceilings leaking onto the equipment and employees.
People died at work while I was there, and many people were at constant risk of death or injury because of poor training or low awareness of things like heavy machinery or vehicles crossing paths with foot traffic. Even over my time there had I recieved burns, cuts, strains, abrasions and at one point impalement.
I worked in and around the department responsible for making brine to be injected into their meat and at any moment someone could have spat into the mixing vat's hopper and subsequently given half of Australia herpes or something because there were no cameras watching the process. Mixing and injecting recipes were failed constantly and numbers were fudged on paperwork to pretend like everything was up to order.
Never a boring day at DON, loved working there.

I worked at Dominos for year, here is what I can remember on the spot. The ground beef is 41% "Meat", the rest is soy. It was routine practice to re-label food with the sticker gun as it was passing out of date. Dough and meat products alike was left out at room temp for hours at a time if it was too busy to put it into cold storage. The air vent in the walk in fridge was spray painted black every once in a while to cover up the mould and crap growing on it rather than cleaning/replacing it. As pizza was made the toppings that didn't make it onto the pizza ended up in catchment trays. It wasn't uncommon to 'reclaim' lost toppings at the end of the night and put them back into circulation having sat in the temperature danger zone for up to hours. There was little to no consideration for dietary or allergy issues with consecutive Pizzas being made with the same set of gloves and the cutter only being washed at the end of the night. Pizza & garlic bread would sit in the post-cook heater for hours only to be served to customers. I'm sure more will come to mind, not to mention the militant and often abusive middle management.
Edit: I have remembered Anchovy Roulette where one lucky cheesy crust pizza had a cheeky anchovy hidden in the crust for one unfortunate customer.

We also had the lid come off the chilli flakes while making an el scorcho, entire container went on the pizza, cooked it anyway and the staff ate it as a challenge, 2 threw up and I had so many tears in my eyes I could barely see the road on the next delivery.

Ron was a jaded 40something burnout who's default attitude towards everything was disdain. Also the best driver we had. One time Andy's helping out with prep, chattin' shit as you do, and he drops the line, "Man, I can't wait until I get married, 'cause I'm gonna have so much sex." I'm like, "What? Married people don't have sex." He's like, "'Course they do, why else would you get married?".
At this point, Ron came back from delivery, so I shouted out to him, "Hey Ron, you're married right? When was the last time you got laid?"
His deadpan reply, "Well, I've got a kid, but I'm buggered if I know how that happened."

I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Mars Bars in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I worked at hungry jacks in Frankston in a teenager. Over the time I worked there I saw many disgusting things. The worst one by far was on an overnight shift, I was about 15 minutes away from clocking off when I heard a horrifying scream coming from the kitchen. I went back there to check what all the commotion was and found a man (who was clearly on meth) lying on the floor, screaming. I quickly learned the reason he was screaming on the floor was because he had stuck his hand directly in the fryer to try and get a handful of chips out. Not really a master criminal. It took us a couple of hours to clean all the bits of skin off the floor and fryer.
It was put back in to use the next morning .

I worked at a Dominos for 5 years. For a bit we had a roving gang that would hang about in the area--often outside the shop. They were wanted by the police, and once hung about at closing time, around 2am. Police were called, and they scattered. They then returned and beat the mall cleaner near to death with a skateboard. Basically from then on we had to call the police whenever they were hanging outside because even the police were sure they were trying to rob us.
Our store was actually fairly clean and well run, but we did suffer from the same thing most stores do--driver pay abuse. On public holidays, drivers don't get paid doubletime like instores do. Instead they get double the delivery fee, $2. Usually you get 2-4 deliveries an hour, so really not worth it. But what most Managers do is roster all the drivers who can also work on the makeline and instore, put them on the roster as drivers, and then not pay them holiday rates. Its pretty scummy, but according to our manager "everyone does it".
As I had been there while I could do everything, but refused to work public holidays for that reason. I ran the store most days of the week, and while only a casual, I got paid more for my experience. I sent an anonymous email to corporate to ask how the system is supposed to work, and they replied that unless drivers do a minimum 2 deliveries an hour, they can't be paid as drivers. I took the email and info to the manager and store owner, and they stopped doing it. The owner did also cut my pay back to the base amount for my effort. At least the other drivers stopped getting ripped off for a bit.

Dominos hirers in America refuse to tell potential delivery drivers that some insurers require them to upgrade their car insurance plan to a more expensive “commercial insurance coverage” plan in order to legally deliver Dominos pizza. Dominos also doesn’t have any insurance coverage for their drivers. This means that thousands of Dominos drivers are currently driving technically without insurance, and they’re one accident away from having their bank account ruined! :)

Some work had already been done, the floor was wet after being pressure washed and cleaned or something like that. When I noticed soapy suds in some of the pizza pans stacked away not being used yet, I pointed out to the manager in front of everyone, and asked if floor cleaner had accidentally been spilled onto the pans. (Not a big deal, we could have just washed them and definitely cleared them of chemicals) The manager raised his voice very loudly to talk over me, proclaiming "NO. No... Definitely not..." He then turned back to what he was doing at the counter while everyone looked on awkwardly.
I'm pretty sure I was right. Nothing was done to wash the pans, or if they did they did it without anyone seeing.

Worked there for little over five years as a teenager.
We found a rat baked into a burger bun. Manager disposed of that packet of buns but not the entire stock from that shipment, as is required.
A manager dropped a load of uncooked fries on the floor and scooped them up back into the fries hopper.
A co-worker was made to scrub out a dumpster and ended up with black mold in his lungs and contracted mucormycosis.
At, like, 2am, some guys came in with machetes and smashed up the McCafe display cabinets in the front of the store and threatened staff before leaving. When the manager called the store manager to report it, they were told to not close the store and to keep serving customers...

I am no aussie, but I worked far too long in food service. Let me share a tale from my time in Tim Horton's in Ottawa, ON.
So this particular Tim's was a very small location located inside of an office building. It was so small, they had a lower floor to store items, and a dumb waiter to move said items upstairs. This included all the fresh veggies and frozen items, as the fridge and freezer were downstairs. Also, due to the limited room, trash that was cleared from the lobby and prep areas were likewise sent down to the basement floor and stored until when it could be put on the street for collection as we didn't even have a dumpster.
This is going exactly where you think it's going.
So one thing any coffee shop worker can attest to is that garbage bags often fill with leftover liquid from discarded cups. You wind up with very sodden sacks of garbage that, also, rupture easily and leak what essentially amounts to garbage filtered leftover coffee water. Now, when clearing the garbage out, each time you were meant to sanitize the dumb waiter. Meant to. However, on multiple occasions, there would be literal pools of filthy brown sludge water sitting below a milk carton containing lettuce, tomatoes, and other such "ready to use" materials for the sandwich station.
So if ever you got a very caffeinated-tasting sandwich from the Bank Street Tim's on Ottawa... it's likely it had that extra taint of garbage coffee water added. Yum yum.

One looked like it had licked the transformer (very dangerous, don't play with one unless you really know what you are doing) and the other looked like it was pulling on the first ones tail. The joke quickly spread throughout the workshop that the first one licked the transformer while the second one tried to save it.

dominos is a special nightmare. i have been in the pizza business for too long, and i've heard some things about other companies. i always made sure my stores were clean and safe though. i almost always made myself the exact same food i was making customers. and we never had anyone do anything gross except for using onions and mushrooms one day too late. even then, that won't make you sick they just have a gross texture when raw and don't look that great.
we did get a bad lot of diced pepperonis once that we had to recall. literally everyone who ate it got violently sick. that was one time in 20 years though. i think the main thing is we didn't have a lobby and we didn't do deliveries. removing those two headaches makes your employees way less likely to mess with the food and cut corners. if a pizza place is super, super busy and they have a lobby plus drivers going in and out, i'm going somewhere else.

I was a delivery driver and would usually work the close shifts, so I'd also have to do a bit of cleaning during the night. My store didn't have a dishwasher either, so you'd have to wash things by hand, which could take ages if it was busy.
I hated being interrupted for a delivery late on closes when it was a busy night, especially if the customer was right around the corner. They called the toppings that fell into the grate the "pit ingredients" when I worked at Dominos. Our manager/owner tried to make us put a certain weight of "pit ingredients" on a supreme pizza and then just fill the gaps. It was fucked and I just made them exactly as they were intended to be. Needless to say it put me at odds with management and basically got me ghosted in terms of shifts.

Yeah I was a driver for them a long time ago: ended up dropping 12 pizzas to this party, and was welcomed in like a king upon delivery (our other driver was robbed and had to go home - so it was me doing two drivers work) - anyway, was offered the wacky tobbacy pipe, a glass of Chivas and my pick from any of the very willing girls at the party... if I didn't need the job so badly, I would have stayed. So we settled on a make out, a photo with a crowd that would make Kim Jong blush and a $50 tip from a wallet that was clearly that of a dealer.
It was an anomaly to the otherwise straightforward job😅

I work at a deli, and pretty often if food goes mouldy or discoloured it would just be scraped off or the bad looking parts would get cut, rarely anything would get thrown out, if something was marinated and clearly gone bad, we would just rinse the marinade off the stuff (mussels, prawns, mostly seafood) and make a new marinade for them
We have had a few health inspectors come in, but nothing has ever came of it

Worked at zambreros in Canberra for a 5 year period and in the beginning it was a fairly normal place to work as you would expect a zambies to me. However very soon after the first 6 months the ‘fresh’ produce that would get delivered weekly would start to show its age. Boxes of avos would be mushed and rotten, to which our franchisee would say “what else are you gonna use, take out the brown bits” and make a cheeky guac out of it.
I also got sent a video from my work mate of a box of tomato’s crawling with cockroaches.
The cauliflower there is the only thing that doesn’t have any rules when reheating. Though because it’s the least ordered item, we at one point nuked the shit out of a bane to where 2 weeks later all that was left was black coals we served mixed in the beef as flavouring.

Aged care nurse, we had a dementia client who was still young but with very early onset symtomps - strong confused and always angry. he would frequently wander up and down the hallway, despite shitting his pants he would march on. the shit would then pour down his legs and dry up. when it came to cleaning him when he finally let us clean him up, removing the dried up faeces from his hairy legs turned into a waxing session, in small chunks we were ripping off his hair with the dried faeces. man took it like a champ.

I worked at Pizza Hut Wentworthville when I was 16. I was Day Prep making then dough and setting up the toppings of a morning. When rolling the dough for the Thin & Crispy Pizza's the first few would get crushed up German Cockroaches mixed in. When I went to throw them out I was told not to worry and just use the mix. We were not to clean the machines in the morning before use as it was apparently a dangerous device that only a repair man was meant to work on not staff. Also heard a rumour of a guy that had been fired not long before I started there for using the dough like a Flesh Light. Apparently he was caught after they found hairs in some of the pizza bases.

I worked for a Domino's as an Assistant Manager and Main Assistant. It was New Year's Eve and I was scheduled to close the store so I got shit faced at work and turned off ordered 2 hours early while I cleaned. The next day I was scheduled to open the store and there wasn't much working done, instead I spent most of my time in the back puking everything I could out to the point where i was just puking bile. I was at the point of passing out in the back office while my drivers (both are mothers and treated me like a son to them) nursed me back to health. God bless their hearts. One of them came back from their deliveries with anti-nausea pills which I instantly threw up. She also came back with Pozole verde, some great traditional hot salsa and limes which I took few sips out of and it eventually got me working again. Best pozole ever, worst hangover so far. God I miss fucking around in that job.

Do one for people working in hotels. Guests & staff were next level 😮

    • @SomeIdiota
      @SomeIdiota ปีที่แล้ว

Ooh, that's a good one. I used to work front desk at a motel, so I could imagine how far things could go. As for me, wildest things I've done were:
-Had sex with my girlfriend at the time, on my lunch break, in unused rooms. I did mark them for cleaning afterwards because I'm not a monster.
-Put annoying, loud guests in the farthest rooms on the second floor (we only had two floors). It was only partially out of spite, but it was also so they wouldn't be around the other guests who weren't openly proclaiming "I'm rotten!". Never had a complaint from the sweet elderly people I saved the first-floor, near-the-office rooms for.
Guests, on the other hand, varied wildly. We had a homeless man who came in once a week to threaten whoever was on the clock at the time. It was often enough to the point where mentioning him and how to handle the situation was part of new hire training.
Cleaning crew are the ones who probably have all the true horror stories.
Tip to anyone who has come this far: Ask about discounts and do so politely. We were instructed to never give discounts unless the customer was saying something specific, as if it were some magic spell to invoke. So many elderly people would come in asking about "AARP discounts" or "senior discounts", but I was instructed to say "We do not have that." What my boss did not know was that I would also say "We do not have that, but there are other discounts we have if you'd like to know about them." If they did want to know, I'd basically give them the magic spell. This wasn't "senior discount" exclusive, that was just the crowd most likely to ask. There were a few times where I totally broke protocol and flat-out said "You guys are eligible for a discount, if you just say these magic words" to people, as it was just after hurricane Katrina and we were getting plenty of people in who had no place to go. It's ridiculous how far some places will go to squeeze a few more bucks out of anyone and everyone.

TH-cam video mentions Dominos. TH-cam algo analyzes and cross references with advertisers. Serves advertisements based on that. It's really not very mysterious. Lots of folk got election ads for Clive Palmer for some of Jordies most brutally damning videos of Clive Palmer. First Bank had the same treatment, I seem to recall.

I used to work at McDonalds. This is nowhere near as egregious, but if you ever order Decaf coffee, chances are you're not fuckin getting it. Instead, you get a watered down Americano. The reason is the decaf bags come for the coffeemaker, but no one orders decaf and we only have one coffee machine.
So instead we make Americano from the other machine (espresso machine) and just water it down, and there you go.

Ah to be back in high school my senior year and working at Domino's with my best buddy :') Good times, lowkey miss my labor being exploited for profit as well as my friend's. Fun fact, when he started working there he asked for 9.75 to start and they told him absolutely, then when me and this friend were double checking the hours/rates on our pay stubs we realized they lied to him and were only paying him 7.50. In hindsight maybe we should've taken it to the department of labor but there was no way to prove it

    • @trixylizard6970

    • @d_4635
      @d_4635 ปีที่แล้ว

I guess my mind sort of goes to management lying about them agreeing to pay my friend the 9.75 and us having no way to prove it, maybe lies like "well we never had any discussions about it, as far as he made us aware he was content with minimum wage, etc." as it was a verbal agreement that he never had Domino's put into writing or anything like that. Although that may be what a typical labor dispute looks like in the U.S. but I have no idea really

When I was a first year university stoner, I got a job at Domino's as a delivery driver, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. During the interview process they hired me and gave me their dorky uniform. I turned up to my very first shift an hour late, and the manager fired me on the spot and told me to get off the property.
For the next month they were sending me text messages and emails, demanding me to give the uniform back or there would be legal action. I sold the Domino's uniform on eBay (hat, trousers, belt, shirt and windbreaker) for around $100, and never replied to any of their messages.

While working at KFC back in grade 9 for work experience the manager told me that I had to go clean out and organise the walk-in drink fridge. Sounds simple but ice-cold bottles and small muscles leads to accidents. I had 2 bottles slip out of my baby smooth hands, land bottle lid down, thus making the lids crack and so both 2 litre bottles exploded at my feet, drenching my pre-owened pants in ice-cold sprite. Headed to the manager to tell her what happened, she took the news so casually she told me that I right then and there to go hand out food at the drive-thru window
