  • In this fishing reel review video I show you a fishing reel that doesn't sucks! The new Daiwa BG spinning reel I am fishing with for finesse fishing techniques (drop shot, ned rig, micro swimbait, neko rig) and compare it with the Daiwa Eliminator fishing reel. I am redoing my fishing rod and reel setups and starting with my finesse spinning combos.
Fishing rods and reels we reviewed and talked about:

Nice review, I agree with that Jack dude and also like a larger reel head. Another point for the larger spool is that the line flows off the reel more smoothly and rarely has wind knots. Great vid, thanks!

Those bg reels are tanks, one of my best friends uses several, and we’ve put them to test on some massive jack crevalles, snook and reds, and they’ve held up perfectly, hell we’ve even dunked them a few times and they’ve been flawless. Even without rinsing them off. We even use the 5000 for sharks and offshore snapper and grouper, they’re wonderful

For those that prefer a much lighter reel the Diawa Fuego comes in at around $100 weighs less than seven ounces and as is loaded with advanced features including mag seal to really deal with salt water exposure.

I have used and abused the BG reels in saltwater , snook , reds , tarpon , jacks , etc. They are tanks...I can't imagine a bass guy ever wearing one out.

Great review Mikey. Im in the market myself, and thats about my range. I was going with the Nasci, but that BG has me intrigued. I beat the crap out of my Stradic. My all time favorite spinning reel is an Old Quantum pti 30. I also have the pti750 5.1 to 1 baitcaster for Cranks and Swimbaits under 3 ounces. I know you have one, and that reels the bomb!!! Casts a mile!! Anyway, Bg or Nasci. Great review

I've been running the RG's/Regalis on most of my spinning setups. Only $60 and they are a heck of a real for that. Not to mention, cheap enough that I'm not worried about how my clients are treating them like I would with a high dollar reel.
I like smaller sizes on my spinning reels as well. As for gear ratio, people get waaay too hung up over it. Spinning reels have a larger diameter spool which picks up line quicker. Looking at the specs on that 2500 size BG it may only have a 5.6:1 ratio, but it recovers line at 33.2" per handle turn. In comparison an 8.1:1 Daiwa Tatula SV baitcaster recovers line at a rate of 34.6" per handle turn.

Not many people do reviews on spinning equipment and I catch a lot of fish on my spinning gear. Mikey I really you might want to look at that is even cheaper and I've been very impressed with it is the Shimano nexave. I've seen them priced anywhere from 50 bucks to 60 bucks I own two of them and for a sub $50 spinning reel they're constructed very well not a lot of plastic on them mostly aluminum frame the drag is as buttery as buttery can get for 50 bucks. And I tried three or four different brands in the same price range flueger Abu Garcia and lose and none of them even came close maybe the lose did bang for your buck the Shimano Nexa is probably the best reel you can buy in that price range. It'd be interesting to see your opinion of it. Great review love the channel

If you want best bang for the buck salt and fresh water then get the Balistic. Hands down. Blows the Stradic FL out of the water for salt water use. For me, the Tatula and Fuego get cover everything I do fresh in fresh water. I use my BG and Proceyon for salt inshore.

Mikey, have the BG in 2000 size. Great reel, no issues with drag or play in handle. Never had a problem with it in 3 years. I, also, have a Shimano Stradic Ci4. Smoother than the BG but costs $120 more. No issues with either and I fish them pretty hard. I have an older Ballistic that is just bullet proof. It weighs a lot more than the Stradic and BG. Still my favorite with Stradic right there. For the money, BG is best at price point hands down. I have a Nasci too and it’s not bad either. Reels are just leaps and bounds better than 10-15 years ago and any $80-110 spinning reel is going to be good. Too competitive in that range not to be. The Stradic and Ballistic are 2500 size and Nasci 1500 for trout mainly.

been playing around with it. was running fireline ice, tried some sunline 4 strand, and have some daiwa 4 strand i need to spool up to try - all those are only for spinning stuff.

@@5.7.0bassin2 sorry i guess it's called crystal here's a link bit.ly/2U98XvS i like it because it's white so i can see it in the water. holds up pretty well. imo would not go lower than 10lbs - i run 14lbs and that seems to be the sweet spot for less wind knots.

The BG is trash. I’ve had 4 now I have 0. They all broke the same way. They get harder and harder to turn really fast even with proper care.
