    Ah man that was an unlucky crash! It's cool to see you flying with marc, i speak to him on the inav fixed wing group sometimes on fb and he's a great chap! Very helpfull man! It's good to see you making videos again mate, especially nice to see build and test videos of mods, not enough of it for fixed wing :')

      Marc used to be a good guy until he crashed into me, I will never fly with him again :-) Seriously though he is really a great guy and the biggest iNav nerd on the planet, he is just on another level to what I know and understand. I will be back in Germany next year and hopefully he will come back to the UK for a weeks flying here.

    Brilliant video, only flew mine a few times and it flew perfectly with no issues or crashes , it now just sits on the office wall. But I definitely want to make it the best it can be, like a kind of Ar Pro Evo model. I'll definitely be given your mods a try though 100%. 👌🏾

      Hi Kyle, This is probably the build I have spent the most time on and won't want to fly it, maybe it can be an office wall queen :-)
      It's coming on nicely and I will be p[utting a progress vid up in a day or so.

    I used laminate over the winglets once glued in place. Works well so far.

    I'd stick with the Z hinge mehod and I use blenderm tape across the joints 🤟

    Balsa, Solarfilm...we were using these materials in the 1970s...
    The sealed (airproof) hinges will work best. You can actually make your hinges using the iron on film instead of the tape for a really professional finish instead of the tape hinges. 🤔😳🇬🇧

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never thought about using film for the hinges I must check that out and see if I can foiind some info or vids that show the technique. Of the two options I have tried I like the CA hinge option best so far

      @@bluefish3607 Be interesting to see if this improves or prevents the dreaded nodding in the pitch axis. I don't think it will but I'm guessing the trim will be more stable at the higher speeds....🤔😳😳🇬🇧

    Interesting.. Look forward to the progress. I was curious about inserting some .5mm x10mm CF strips to the trailing edge of the flimsy foam elevons.. That said, I look forward to your build.. btw, quit messing around with those AR Wings and get that A-10 ( more than enough room for a Matek F411 inside it..)... 🙂

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't temp me on the A10 your does look amazing. I want to focus on my existing projects first, I will be carbon laminating the balsa elevons to see how that works out. This was a tip from a guy who flies super high speed gliders.

  • @burtpanzer
    @burtpanzer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've noticed an unfortunate aspect to these foam models having such a heavy battery, which is the forward inertia of the battery (and whatever it's attached to) ripping the fuselage apart as it continues on it's way. The only solution other than a whole different material would be something like a break away nose and battery compartment that could slide in and out on plastic rails, held in with with a bit of Velcro at the back, and a quick release power connection through the center of the main bulkhead.
    I like the covering material. We used to iron it on balsa gliders, but I don't think it will help contain that Lipo. Anyway, sounds like a fun and worthwhile project there. AR-WING PRO 2.0!

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Burt, I completely agree I have had many crashes with 500mah lipos smashing through the foam on impact and destroying the GoPro into the bargain. The lam wont stop that in a hard crash but hopefully it will make the wings a little more resilient to scuffing and damage from minor impacts. The elevons will make a big difference I hope because the stock ones are not uup to the job for anything but slow cruising.

  • @grim-upnorth
    @grim-upnorth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I put foamboard elevons on my old AR600, the kind that has thick paper glued to both sides. Of course, no where near as torsionally rigid as balsa, but still more rigid than the stock expanded foam ones.
    You know more than most about the AR Pro, it's a decent plane and performs just fine at what it was designed for. But for sure, it definitely needs modding if you want to fly it outside of its usual envelope 👍

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I intend to laminate the balsa elevons for the new build with carbon fibre. I am sure |I can get this plane to fly better but it is really a cruiser, my Mini Drak will be more geared to high speed acro.

    First i want to say you have become my main source of information when it comes to the ar wing pro so thanks, I have 3 of these planes going to do the hybird thing next,my biggest problem with these wings is the build in electrical 6 pins. My receivers and vtx require 4 wires each i place them on opposite wings as far apart as possible, just wondering how you deal with this? Are you splicing ground wires together or maybe the positive wires? Thanks for all your videos

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  ปีที่แล้ว

      I splice the ground wires from the servo and crossfire RX in the wing. I use DJI and have the VTX or Air Unit in the side pod and GPS in the other side pod so no wiring issues with those.

    • @egtreadway4232
      @egtreadway4232 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay thanks this makes sense,I hate to waste these build in connectors but to me the least amount of connectors in a wing the better, loosing power,ground or signal to a servo can be ugly. I think I'll keep removing these factory connections and running servo cable directly to servos,rx and vtx. Thanks

  • @fpv_wing
    @fpv_wing ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello my friend, how are you? I have watched each and every one of your videos, I want to ask you what is the best thing that you have modified so that the wing flies more stable, I look at the OSDs and they all show movement, it is not a wing that flies STUCK ON THE HORIZON. Greetings from Argentina

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi I guess the best mod for stability are the balsa elevons. That said a flying wing will never be as stable as a plane with a tail. The best chance of any degree of stability is when there is little or no wind which is very rare where I live. My AR Pro is as about as good as it gets, thats why I stabilise the footage with Gyroflow.

      @@bluefish3607 I always found those Tower Pro servos to be very weak well the full size Tower Pro servos we're always very weak when I try to use them on my trucks but as I'm typing this I'm thinking yeah he probably would work really good on an airplane or a wing I have those emails servos on my s800 wing but they're the analog version and I don't think I like them I think I'm going to put digital servos in it see if there's a major difference in how it flies

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@devilsreject78 Thanks for the heads up on your experience with the Towerpro's. I have used them before and found them to be pretty good.
      I chose them because Stall torque: 2.1kg.cm (4.8v); 2.4kg.cm (6.6V) was a little highr than most others I looked at, they have dual bearings, metal gears and are digital.
      This is why I am building a test plane first to see how all the components work out. I am assuming that because the elevons will flex less that more energy will be applied to the servo arms.
      We will see soon enough I guess how they work out 🙂
