Really digging the channel. Glad I found ya on Reddit. Another channel that I'll actually be looking forward to your content. Super chill, informative and entertaining.
So glad I started collecting from Day one and have all these cards 😂 there's a fun fact when it comes to the gabranth promo. During the comic con in London a bunch of these were stolen from the guys handing them out. So I'd day there are about 4500 English version ones around.
I have just started to collect these today as Final Fantasy is my favourite franchise. With regards to the Opus 1 series, is it better to keep the booster packets unopened in terms of holding value (if they do go up that is) since they are the first release and have the more valuable cards? Or is it better to open them and know for sure what you got? Speaking from a collector/resale stand point. Thanks. Great video by the way, really informative for those new to the game.
I'd personally reccomend keeping anything pre opus 5 completely sealed right now. If you want to collect individual cards from those sets, there are plenty of collections that can be bought very cheaply.
hey dude. new to collecting. how can i get onboard with these collector promo first wave cards? where do i find out when these events are going on and where i can buy them before their release?
Hello, im a fan of final fantasy 8,9 and 10. I really like the squall. Vivi or bahamut/odin cards. Tidus as well. Any card you recommend that i can pick off on ebay? And the booster box would you recommend me some?
Absolutely! Wave 1 cards are probably some of the hardest FFTCG cards to find at this point, and all of them have value. But the errata definitely more so than others.
Hi Sir. I'm interested in FF TCG. If I want to get Squall before reprint (your number 2), what pack should I open? I looked up amazon there are so many different boxes but none of them are marked as First Edition. What keywords should I look for? Thank you in advance.
@@mickjaggah4912 market isnt kind right now but need the money. Got it graded (PlatinumCardGrading 9) so would be looking for about £200 or the best offer someone is willing to put forward. If the market was high again id sell for about 300 lol.
No only the first print run is wave 1. You can't really find wave 1 packs anymore, but they are visually different. You can check out my wave 1 video, I outline how to tell the differences there.
FFTCG Authority I have a lot of wave one boosters. Around 170. And I also have boosters from that time, around 20 booster boxes. But unfortunately I can’t see if it’s a wave one or wave two box.
Might be a little late to comment but if I were looking to cash out my collection where would you advise going? I have a fair few opus 1 wave 1 foils no squall/cloud but I have got the A-001 picked it all up at MCM Comic Con London in 2016 everything went straight in my binder etc. I also have a signed cloud un-opened theme deck by the producer
I don't think being used as prizes mean's it's overprinted. Unless you have evidence of an additional print run. I think stores just hung onto them to give a more attractive prize than regular promos. So yes, I think it will retain it's value since it was given out at a limited number of events. But it's currently value is still only around 30-45 dollars, so it's not an expensive prize to give out at an event if you want to attract players.
Is it worth investing in a Fftcg card final fantasy cloud tcg-a-001 foil in German language? I wasn’t able to find any English ones because of how rare they are
hey, where do you think the Japanese white back cards stand in the market? Also, if they thought the sword across the neck was offensive why did they release those artworks(like Squall) in their own OG sets?
The problem with Japan white back cards are that they have no market outside of Japan. Unfortunately, I don't see the value of those going anywhere but down. You can think of them like the Carddass Masters set. They hold some value with diehard collectors like myself, but they are still pretty cheap to get even though they're 20+ years old at this point. With Opus out and being a global set, I kind of see Chapters fading into nothing. It's just too similar to Opus, and there's no collectible appeal outside of Japan. I have seen very few US based collectors interested in it, even though most have heard of it.
@@FFTCGAuthority that's really bad. The OGs deserve more respect. It's like gem mint 10 base charizard being at 300 bucks for 10 years and the others are over 10000. But we'll have to wait and see
Yeah I think it's because Chapters is considered a dead set, and most people don't consider it a part of the FFTCG even though it was its predecessor. I completely expect the same thing to happen to Opus if SE deprecates it and releases an entirely new set. I used to play SWCCG, even the rarest cards from that set are worth nothing because Decipher ended the series. The reason why Pokemon/MTG retain value is because the sets have continued for 20+ years. It remains to be seen how long SE supports FFTCG. But when a set dies, it means that there are no new collectors/players to the scene. That means the demand side drops over time, whereas for continuing sets the demand side rises while the supply side of early sides is always dropping. As far as most people are concerned, Chapters is just a dead series. And it's JP only and 90% of people aren't interested in collecting cards they can't read.
It's a tough question to answer, but general rule of thumb is they're worth less. In MTG, occasionally foreign language ones are worth more, it depends on how many collectors are out there who want to collect a set in every language (yes some people are that crazy). In terms of sheer print runs, foreign language ones are obviously rarer than English ones from a pure quantity perspective. But the demand side is also MUCH smaller. I'd say the most lucrative language behind English is Japanese. Some purists equate Final Fantasy with Japan, so Japanese products are sometimes highly valued. But looking at FFTCG, when I was stocking up on Cloud A-001s it was hard to get an English one for anything under 75. I saw many listings for Spanish/German ones going for less than 25 dollars in the same time frame. So in my experience for FFTCG they're worth far less, but certainly still worth something. Best thing to do is to list them at English prices to not leave any money on the table, and see if you have any takers. Gradually reduce the price, and you'll be able to ascertain what the market thinks about the pricing.
Hey there, I actually have a video I'm about to publish that covers this very topic!! But in any case, unfortunately the answer is no. 2-131 Knight was errata'd to 2-131 Paladin, so all 2-131s will be Paladins in all future reprints. It is not a misprint or anything, it's just an errata. So actually, 2-131 Knight is more likely to be valuable since no more of them will be printed. I'm assuming you pulled these from a new case of Opus 2 boxes, since old ones will say Knight.
@@FFTCGAuthority thanks for the quick answer. I was going off the top of my head. Then I have two of the knight ones I think. I have two that are a different name at least lol.
@@Shadedkin There's a lot of these kind of cards actually, I'll release a video in the next few days about it. For example, old versions of Opus 1 Leon say "Dark Knight", and the reprints say "Rebel". You can find a full list of these on the official FFTCG errata page if you're interested.
Nah, it's still fairly early I would say :). The most expensive Wave 1 card is foil Squall @ 250-300 USD. Comparatively, the rarest first edition foil in something like Pokemon is 10K+. So we're still fairly early in I'd say =)

Very cool & informative.
Can you do one of these again but not including opus 1 wave 1, as they're basically impossible to get now!
Upvoted as soon as I heard you say, FFT is my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time :D
Im new to this and before buying was wondering if all boxes are randomly assmembled or just the rare card packaged at random?
Seems to me even if FFTCG died, FF is such a powerful franchise and these are official so would still hold value like old baseball cards
