19:00 I recently designed a 3D-printable insert and dice tower for the original printing of The Castles of Burgundy. Increase fun and reduce setup and teardown time :D models can be found on printables (for free of course)
I really want to get my hands of Roll Player Adventures, looks right up my alley but it is an investment! I'd add Radlands, Welcome To, Hanamikoji, Earth, Obsession, Hadrian's Wall.
I love this video and your lists! Not sure you could have done any better. 10/10! The only question I can think of: You mention Lost Cities quite a bit (with good reason), but is there any particular reason I don't think you talk about Battle Line (or Battle Line: Medieval)? Just curious. Again, one of my favorite BGR videos. Thanks!
@@BoardGamingRamblings Well, since you have already played so much LC I'm not sure it would add enough that was new for you? I will say this, BL and BL: Medieval are rated a tiny bit higher on BGG, and when I have seen them compared in online discussions it seems most people slightly favor Battle Line. So I think you'd be apt to like it if you wanted to try a new wrinkle on the well-loved Lost Cities.
very tricky, as it depends what kind of dynamic does the couple have. for example my gf likes high interaction and take that moments so our 2p games are highly competitive and dynamic. other couples might enjoy more solitaire feel of many euro games, etc.
Dropping in from the BBG calendar, looking for more clues on two player games as a gift for my parents. I guess you guys just sold another copy of Codenames Duel. =)
Loved this video. Excellent insight into the games I can play with my wife when it is just the two of us. Thank you for continuing to make this content for us all to enjoy 👍
Great list! Very recently, at long last, I obtained “Grand Austria Hotel”. I look forward to playing it. When you mentioned that money is “ tight” in that game, it came to mind that the customers in the game must be lousy tippers. 😅 For abstract fans, “Yinsh” is a very good 2 player only game with a clever “ catch up” mechanism.
We got GAH recently, too (after wanting it for years). We’ve played it several times now and it’s an instant favorite. As far as money goes, it’s just as easy to get up to maximum 20 krones as it is to drop to just 1. It all depends on focus! In GAH, it’s nice to be rich, but something else has been painfully neglected. Decisions, decisions, decisions. That’s why we love these games!
It’s not as tight as any heavy euro for sure, but depending on the guests that come out, it can be hard to get a good money engine going! Glad you liked the list 🥳
Alright, I guess Codenames Duett has to finally move in 😀 Certainly a very solid list even though I don't love all of those. When I think of 2 player games I also mostly think of rather quick games you can play after long works days, but I like it that you did not narrow it down to only that. I guess my list would look like this, even though I have not played #3 and #7 in quite a while. 10. The Lost Expedition 9. Nusfjord 8. Broom Service 7. Ruthless 6. Circle the Wagons (replaced Patchwork for me) 5. The King is Dead 4. Coimbra 3. Race for the Galaxy 2. Crokinole 1. Maracaibo
Glad you liked the list, even though you don’t like all the games, hehe 😅 Some fantastic games on your list! I would absolutely love a crokinole board, so maybe I’ll have to look into getting one!
You might be surprised. My wife & I aren’t that into dungeon crawlers or combat games, but we’re enjoying the hell out of playing Jaws of the Lion with my daughter & son-in-law. It’s Gloomhaven with training wheels. You learn the rules by adding a few new ones to each of the 25 scenarios. By the end, you’re more than ready to tackle Gloomhaven proper.
Other ones that are good to mention are: 1960: The Making of the President, Hanamakoji, A Few Acres of Snow, Battle Line/Schotten Totten, Ginkgopolis, Seeland, The Magnificent, This Guilty Land(!), Table Battles, 13 Days: The Cuban Missile Crisis 1962, Air, Land & Sea, Small Samurai Empires, Jekyll vs. Hyde, Targi, Watergate, Undaunted, Wir Sind das Volk!, Blitzkrieg! or Caesar!: 20 Minutes Battle and my personal favourite: Unforgiven: The Lincoln Assassination Trial. It looks outstanding (yes: a book!) and it's even better in my opinion than 7 Wonders Duel. Hard to get in Europa, but if you get the change: grab it!
Great list! I play mostly at 2p and I have some crossovers with your lists but I think at least 50/60 % would be different. Underwater Cities would be mandatory, for sure. I'm curious on how you play Jaws of the Lion, since I have it on my shelf of shame and will probably play it at 2p. Do you play 1 character each or 2?
Excellent choices. Most frequently played 2-player games for my wife and I are Grand Austria Hotel, Patchwork, and Lost Cities! We are really enjoying Splendor Duel as well, have you played it?
Not in any particular order but my favourite games for 2 players are: - Paladins of the West Kingdom - Grand Austria Hotel - Targi - Patchwork - Hanamikoji - Jaipur
I love that you don't share lists together...I love that you have crossovers...I'm sad that when the crossover is announced that the person doesn't find new things to say about it and the experience you have playing it! Feels like such a missed opportunity!
Hey :D Great point! We do (almost always) talk a bit more about the game when the first person has it on their list (and we know it’s coming up on ours), and if we have things to add, we do it as well. Many times we just agree with the other person, and we can easily end up just repeating ourselves! Hope that makes sense :)
Hi! Bastard Cafe was amazing!! They have about 5.800 games! It would be great if the two of you could make the board gamers guide book to Europe. With the best bg cafes and stores, and conventions. 😄
Fantastic list, you two! My girlfriend Hannah and I just uploaded our favorite games for couples/two players on Sunday and we have some crossovers! ☺ We like to play Lost Cities on our phones together when we need something short and stress-free! I've introduced Hannah to 7 Wonders Duel but she wasn't a huge fan, unfortunately! And we love playing Patchwork together! 🧵
@@BoardGamingRamblings I’m not sure, to be honest! It’s been a long time since we last played it! I wonder if she’d like it more if we got it to the table now! ⚔️ There’s an official solo variant out now, so I tend to use that when I’ve got the 7WD itch!

Roll Player Adventures is so much fun. Hope you’ll get a chance to play it!
Thank you for sharing your favorites. My City and Clank Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated were two of the best experiences I had gaming with my SO.
My City is fantastic! 🥳

We have not played Battle Line! As easy as that 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@BoardGamingRamblings Ah, I thought that might be the case. No biggie. Very related to LC.
Do you reccomend us checking it out?

Thanks for that list, well done. Many of your games are also on our favorite list. We also like Azul #3 and #4
So happy to hear that! I like all the Azul games, but didn’t end up keeping them all!

Welcome 🤩 Codenames Duel is a great one! Hope they’ll enjoy it!
Chip Theory Games needs to make a Codenames that you can play in the Jacuzzi.
Haha, that would be awesome 😂
Love you guys. Code names Duet is a great cooperative game for more than two. Cuts out the down time compared to the original
Yeah, I see you can play with more than two! I love the original with 6 people!

Great list. Want to try Detective. Gloomhaven may make a lot of women's eyes glaze over with "What on earth is this?" "Why?"

Love your list. I would add the following: Nanga Parbat, Duelasaur Island, Keyflow, Spirit Island
Keyflower I guess? I prefer Key Flow with 3 or 4.
We just played Spirit Island again for Keep or Cull, and it is not my cup of tea! Glad you liked the list 🤩
Thanks for the tip on how Approachable is an Adventure role-playing game. I have been looking for a simple Cinema!
I did not understand that sentence, sorry 😅

We always play one character in games that allow it. Playing 2 would not be good (for us at least) in these games!
Excellent choices. Most frequently played 2-player games for my wife and I are Grand Austria Hotel, Patchwork, and Lost Cities! We are really enjoying Splendor Duel as well, have you played it?
Thank you! Glad you liked it! We did a review of Splendor Duel! Fun game, and I think we kept it, but I am unsure!
We had so much fun with My City. I think a lot of legacy games are great for couples because the experience is uniquely yours
It's fantastic!

In 7 wonders duel is our favorite we have the pantheon and just wounding about the leaders if it's worth getting
I think the second expansion was fine, but not something you need! Base with Pantheon is the best!

How does one get A feast for odin in norway now? Been searching for such a long time ^^
Do you know "beer & bread"? In Germany it's relatively new, and a lot of people love this game for 2!
We did a review of it! Didn’t like it a lot, sadly!
Oh crap it’s Valentine’s Day?!
Haha, yes 😂

The underwater one had a few horrendous puzzles! I do not remember the name of it!
A new grouping of games hot tub games by board game ramblings

Santorini is best at four with god powers.
Feast for Odin a couple game?? 😲
