Love you guys!
Erin x
His crest is falling, it’s a metabolic condition PRE stallions in particular struggle with. The only way to prevent further damage is nutritional, He needs sugar removed from his diet (even carrots). You probably won’t see This comment but I hope you get proper veterinary advice, I have a pre stallion and I’m super careful about his diet because We already have a stallion who’s crested started to fall, we corrected in time fortunately. They don’t seem to have the same nutritional education in Spain that we have here in North America, but this is so important for Spanish breed owners to know!
This is what I thought as well. It definitely needs to be corrected urgently or there will be permanent damage.
Being crestfallen could also be a conformational fault or a result of injury. I don't remember Buskie being crest fallen when she first saw him...
I didn't think it was caused by nutrition. I thought it was just a conformational flaw.
@Nettie The crest, I’m pretty sure, is the part of a horse at the top of the neck under the mane.
my 25 year old anglo arab mare has cushings and her crest was really fat but it has gotten so much better . we put her on special food
It also leads to a failure on their grading. It makes him worthless as a stallion.
Hey Erin, the dip in his neck you see is called a fallen crest. It doesnt look too severe yet, so it can be fixed, but to prevent this I would be plaiting the mane evenly on both sides of the neck. Due to the weight of his mane it will cause the fallen crest. What we do with our friesians is do an even amount of plaits on both sides of the neck, eg 4 plaits on one side and 4 on the other (you can do how ever many you want).
I hope she will see your comment! When I saw the dip in his neck, I was like "uh oh, bad". That mane must be soooooo heavy!
What also helps is flipping te whole mane every week if you don’t want the manes on 2 sides of the neck
tag her! she needs to see this!
fallen crest is caused by the Nauchal Ligament in the neck so When the Nauchal Ligament in the neck is Longer than the length of the neck itself we call it a fallen crest the inly way I can describe it its like an over stretched elastic band... fat overweight horses and ponies are prone to it when they develop lots of fat deposits in their neck and become cresty and then the possibility they develop a fallen crest ... once the horse has the fallen crest it never goes away even with a good EMS plan called in full ... Equine metabolic syndrome.... now these kind of horses Ems are prone to all sorts of issues 1, being laminitis so I would be very carefully bring him back to the UK especially with all the luscious grass and feed stuffs in the UK.... I had a PRE stallion well iv had quite a few when i lived there for 27 years amd actually I know Pepe and his son very well I lived in the valley across from them and spent Many years riding with them best horse trainers in Andalucia.... sadly a fallen crest will always be a fallen crest but like my horse more you ride it tends to go un noticed as it stands up correctly whe you work and school the horses but at rest it will flop over ... it does not help he has such a long beautiful mane but like others have suggested and I did with my horse quite often is plait it over the other side.... I do have some advice for you though .... please stop playing with his mouth and treating him spanish don't do that you will be teaching him to nip and adventually bite he was already scraping the floor in the video when he could see the carrot bag in the video he is a stallion after all and he will become bulshy and pushy he is already highly strug and iv seen many spanish horses come to the UK and become a nightmare to handle and a change in personality and another bit of advice before you change a strong hard mouthed PRE from a double bride it's been used to to a snaffle be warned you will have no brakes so I think you will need to do ground work and slowly introduce him to the idea of a snaffle mouthing him ie ling reining and lunging circingle side reins etc .... anyway I wish you luck with your beautiful horse sadly I lost my boy quite a few year ago now at 21 with neurological issues something that spanish horses seem to be prone too also greys are prone to melanomas which sadly my corazòn mare my pride and joy sucome too xx
Thank you! I’ll get on that xx
He is such a beauty! 😍 My PRE actually has a great walk, but PREs often have a poor walk by dressage standards. Part conformation but also how they're trained in Spain. Very up and fiery. It will improve with less tension. IME taking them for walks helps teach them to relax and stretch. 😊 It looks like he has a fallen crest. It's a bad fault according to the breed standard but it doesn't hurt the horse or influence his performance in any way, so unless you want to breed him it's not a problem. It's genetic and caused by a ligament in the neck that is too long. Building more muscle on the neck can help hide it by filling out the neck a bit. The weight of his mane could be making it worse so I would recommend making around 10 individual braids instead to not have as much weight pulling on the neck. He's gorgeous anyway! ❤️ So exciting that you are finally bringing him home! 🦄
This is lovely advice for Erin especially your comment about his mane tfs
Good comment!
@@Minirollsroll Yeah I feel like Matt H has talked about this same issue on his channel.
👑panggeran rizal dan sang naggah👑🐉 ratu blorong the bes frend.. erin💑👫 im from gresik itu kota surabaya indonesia 10 november jendral malabih ✌❤engglis
@@Minirollsroll no he definitely did talk about it. i think it was while he was looking for a second PRE (he ended up buying sureno), when he came across a horse he really liked but they had a fallen crest. i can't recall how much he discussed it, but i definitely do remember him talking about it.
I've seen way too many horror stories of horses being left with "trusted" trainers that I would never even consider this arrangement and find one close to home. The dip in the neck would be a red flag. I doubt they are actually doing much with him at all.
Are you calling her a bad owner? She didn’t know he had the neck problem until she read the comments. I doubt you know anything about her and how she trains horses so keep your mouth shut until you know for sure if she’s actually not doing anything, your just assuming
Yep. They saw her coming for sure. I know he is now passed but when he was alive this alone made him worthless as a stallion, he would fail any ANCCE grading on his crest alone. Really feel that they slapped a fat premium on his price for his mane alone and were waiting for a naive foreign buyer to come along. Awful, poor Erin.
3 absolutely stunning women and 1 absolutely stunning horse! The picture at the end with the 3 of you was so sweet 🥹 it takes me back to my horsey days with my girlfriends at the stables, we had so much fun! Some of the best times of my life. I’m so excited for Busko so come home, he’s going to look freaking fabulous in your stables and yard!
Cant wait till you get him to your yard! You two are great for eachother ☺️
What a mush😍 can’t wait till he gets to be home with you and you’ll never have to go a day without seeing that gorgeous face🙂 love you Erin❤️ and his mane grows so fast😂 can’t help but be jealous of him
He is such a stunning horse. As for his neck it looks to he a fallen crest. Can be quite common in spanish horses but his does look minimal at the moment. Helping re build his topline muscle will help it but not complety.
His mane will not be helping with the weight of it so maybe as parting it down the middle and having equal amounts of mane on either side for his day to day life will help. A fallen crest doesnt normal go away and can get worse with age so best soon to prevent. He is going to love life in the uk wait until he sees a field of grass to himself ❤❤
it's so lovely to see you take your time with him
Such a kind and caring girl. I admire your creativity. Bravo!👏👏👏
He's such a lovely and gorgeous boy and you want the best for him. We all know that. ☺️ But - and I absolutely don't mean to be rude or anything like that, and of course it is your decision and a matter of taste - but is a mane this long really necessary? Is it good and comfy for him? The mane and the forelock, when not tied up, hitting him in the face, in the eyes and on the body during movement and work?
I think he doesn't care if his mane is long and shiny. I also can't imagine the weight of it. I assume it isn't that good for his neck, too; all the weight is pulled to the left. - Matt Harnacke mentioned something similar in one of his videos with his PRE Emporio.
But again: your decision and your taste. I just mean well. 😊
Other than that: Love your videos. Safe space and always so calming, thank you. 🥰😌
yes it is a lack of muscle in the neck but also the weight of the mane is just all on one side so the neck always falls in where most of the weight of the mane is. i would try parting it evenly on both sides so you would help him with a balanced weight on both sides. we all do this in iceland with our horses before we start to built neck muscles.(some do it just because it looks satifying but most of the time we do it because of too much weight on one side) i promise better results on fixing that neck issues :) (this is all just my opinion as it has helped me with the horses i have trained with ALOT of mane)
Can’t wait for you Erin to do ur first photoshoot with him you dressed like a princess and queen and omg that would be amazing one day ❤
That's the coolest thumbnail ever! You and Buski are so cute together, love you guys! ❤️❤️
he is so beautiful, can't wait to see you bond with him once he comes home to your yard.
I've been curious about this: you mentioned how much maintenance his mane is along with how he's practically been able to step on it. Is this something you might trim down a bit when you get him home or will you keep the length?
I am so excited that you are going to bring buski home soon! I agree with getting him a new bridal because he has such a handsome face and it’s like drowning him where you can’t really see it. Either way Erin I know whatever you do is the right thing for him!
Hey Erin this video was amazing! Buski is beautiful and your a great rider and it would be so nice to bring him home. That mane🤩 must be so hard to clean
Buski looks beautiful Erin, you girls are all so pretty I bet the Spanish grooms were ogling 🤣🤣🤣. Looking forward to seeing this gorgeous boy at your home and watch you bring him on and muscle him up etc the way you want him. I agree with you about the double bridal it’s too much. Your so very lucky to have him he’s cute and adorable for a stallion.tfs😎🏇😎
wow he is stunning, when are you planning on bringing him home,
i look forward to seeing more of him x
He is such a beautiful fellow 😍 truly majestic!
♥️👹♥️
I like how you take good care of your horses.
Gorgeous 😍❤️
Both of you ❤
He looks like he has gone down hill a lot. Can’t wait for you to get him how and get mussel back on him.
Beautiful my friend.. And yr friends r having to much fun 😊😊
Glad to hear your getting rid of the double bit! Yaaay you. So heavy & painful in their mouths. FYI: To prevent his mane from getting caught under your saddle - braid the first 5 inches a bit sideways, from whither up towards his neck!
great looking horse!
We need more of theese videos! They are so entertaining
I love your videos. We LOVE the crocs!! Are you ever going to bring him too your main yard?
When he’s done with training
if you watch the video you'll get the answer
@@sunnysaulee I have .
She says she will in the video but needs to get plans in place for that. It doesn't give a time frame.
I love his mane sm, but it must be so annoying for him having loads of forelock and mane in his eyes and being heavy and trying not to step on it :(
It’s not, I keep it out of his face :)
13:00 Hi there, have fun & have a nice day yaa... 🙂
He is so beautiful 🤩
What a very beautiful stallion for such a beautiful rider
He does look a bit like his crest is being pulled to the side by his mane. Would brushing it to the other side and braiding it so the weight pulls the other way help? Or parting it and doing equal braids on both sides?
That hair is soooooo awesome. 👍🏽
I can’t wait for more videos about him when he’s home❤
6:10 ❤️
Loved the video ! The Cara fail reminded of this time I accidentally sprayed ShowSheen all over my horse’s body the day before riding him bareback.. I know lots of people had the same experience, here we are dummies 😂

You and your horse both are equally beautiful
Beauty everywhere ❤
Puro amor por esos animales...que linda ella ....
get him out if there!!!
Very beautiful horse!!!
So nice doggy
The muscle dipping may be from the weight of wet hair (try changing the side you braid it to). Or could be supper neck (fallen crest).
Happy the person you love 😎🎠
