Hey Philip. I'm also a Pro subscriber of this app. I actually bought it because of EL Zone support (you have to tap and hold on the false color icon). Anyway, I digress. I was just wondering if the EL Zone colors are showing up correctly on iPhone? I noticed that on my Android, the EL Zone colors are a bit off by 1/2 stop or 1 stop.
Hey Jonatan! The EL Zone is a handy feature for sure, I typically leave it in the rec.709 800% for a quick check and it usually does lean towards the 1/2 stop down in the green range, but as far as if it is accurate to reality I would not be experienced enough to know. Hopefully someone else who might know could comment on accuracy! Thank you for the comment!
I love and use this function a lot. I have an A7C II and an iPhone 15. But the iPhone Reverse charges the A7C and therefore drains very fast. There’s no way to switch off reverse charging on iPhone 15.
There is not, I’ve tried doing wireless charging during filming but doesn’t seem to work. I keep a battery pack fast charger in my camera bag to juice up and always start my shoot with a full phone battery.
Funny enough I just did a shoot out in the cold yesterday and it did drain a whole lot of iPhone battery. I kept it in low power mode, but I hope Apple comes up with a way to turn off accessory charging because that was annoying! I think you can get data only cables that will stop the power transfer but I have not searched for that yet. If I find one that works I'll let you know!
Thank you! I did some searching and was not able to find any kind of split cable that was an OTG cable or data transfer cable. All the Y-splitter cables are power only, so I don’t think one would exist. If you really cared you might be able to find a data dongle that could split out two USB-c but I would be very surprised if this worked. I upgraded from a Ronin RS-C to the RS3-Mini, and this allowed me to Bluetooth to the camera so I can stream and remote control. Pretty great actually!
Yes you can with the Pro Version! Whatever you do on one a screen mirrors on the other. So you can do focus tracking on the iPhone and on the camera screen the tracking box appears, touch to focus on the camera then the box appears on the iPhone. Also the first setting in the monitor plus is selecting the tap function: 1: AF Area 2: Tracking + AE OFF (I leave it in this mode) 3: Tracking + AE On (Auto Exposer On) 4: AE (Auto Exposer only) Hope this helps!
I can’t say I have any experience on that, I only have USB-C to USB-C cables and most likely only the newer cameras that have USB-C would have this capability. Some people have commented they are using USB-C to Lightning Cables with Apple’s Camera Adapter, and it’s working fine on older iPhone, but nobody has commented yet if they got it to work with HDMI. I do think Monitor Plus is a Sony specific app. Maybe you could order a cable on Amazon and give it a try! If it doesn’t work then a return should be easy.
Yes but it takes a very specific device that has PD pass through and a USB-C port, I’ve used this one and it works but it’s probably not great on the phone battery haha. It’s from Acer amzn.to/3OVULAs It can charger the phone and still allow the app to function.
@@PhilipBlank thank you for getting back to me, what about a simple splitter with just 2 female ends, 1 for power from ext battery and 2nd female end for video connection to phone app, or does it have to be through the acer hub? or another option, 2 separate wires: micro hdmi to usb c (cam to phone) and then usb c to usb c (cam to ext battery) would that work? thanks again for your time
@@ttog8883to be honest I don’t know as this is the only thing I’ve found to work of what I had. I don’t have any splitters but if it has data transfer then maybe! The second concept is an interesting one, using the HDMI out as the data transfer and USB-C to charge the camera? If I had one of those cords I would try it! I think at this point you could just use a through power supply on the battery port to keep the camera going, not sure how that would work with the iPhone if it could charge it up though. I actually just tried a third option and put the iPhone on a wireless charger while plugged into the camera and it didn’t seem to charge much but kept a steady percentage. Lots of messing around to do still!
i do have a question, i have a a7III, wich is 8bit, and the iphone is 10bit, i wich format it will record? coud be as a monitor and recoerder? as a external 10bit recorder?
Great question, but I don’t believe the app was primarily intended as a recording device, mainly a monitor. It can record up to 1080p and save to your phone but it doesn’t say the bit depth. That’s a technical question beyond me so I don’t have a good answer sadly!
Sadly probably not, they have a list of ones it is compatible with here: monitorplus.cc/docs/general/camera-compatibility-and-capability/ The SLT is a bit too old but you could always order a cable to try on Amazon Prime and return it if it doesn’t work.
@ thank you for getting back to me mate, I really appreciate it 🙌 I guess it can’t hurt to give it a go. Would my best bet be to just get a portable monitor? I’d love to upgrade my camera to a much more modern one but as I’m just learning at the moment I thought I’d go for something on a lower budget to begin with, but all these extra gadgets are pushing me to upgrade sooner 😂
Could this work on a 7iii with an older iphone like an iphone X? I was thinking of getting a cold shoe mount for phone and just plug a usb c with lighting cable
Some people are reporting it is possible with the iPhone 13 so I would imagine so! You just have to find the right adapter and cables, some people have left comments with the ones they bought but I personally do not have experience with this.
You are moreso charging the camera it seems, just a trickle. I’ve not been able to figure out wireless charging while plugged in but have not tried too much yet either. I keep the phone charged up before the shoot and have a battery pack ready to go for right after. I’ve never had any battery issues so it’s kept me going for a couple hour shoot.
I just found out about this app today by total chance. I can’t believe its not being talked about more. I’m using the Pro version on my A6700 and Iphone 14 Pro. Wireless worked “OK” but as you mentioned it was laggy. I ordered an OTG cable and should be up and running soon. As long as it remains a stable app I can’t imagine ever spending several hundred for a monitor again! Great video
Dude I know! I was blown away because I found it by chance from just thinking about what happens if I plugged my phone in, would it charge it or be able to transfer photos from the camera but when it showed it could monitor I was sold. I’m not one to upgrade phones often, every 3-4 years but now with the 15 Pro being USB-C I was instantly sold and being able to use the same cable to charge, transfer data, live monitor on phone, and tether to gimbal I would upgrade again in a heartbeat to not have to deal with other accessories. Hopefully the OTG cable works, others mentioned you’d need the lightning to USB Camera Adapter.
@@PhilipBlank can confirm the cable works perfectly. Its just a USB-C straight to Lightning. Perfect length to attach to the phone on the folder. App is working absolutely perfect with no lag whatsoever. I’ve got a shoot tommorow and will get to use it extensively. Very excited about this

Sorry to hear you’re having issues! I don’t have that camera to validate, but from what I imagine it seems it’s a setting in the FX30 menu if it’s not a non-capable USB-C Cable. Go to the Yellow Toolbox Menu, scroll down to USB, enter that and go to the USB connection mode. Here check that the settings are correct and play around. Also maybe check if there is anything about remote settings and phone access. I’ll dig in my camera tomorrow to see if I can spot a specific option.
You click the image of an SD Card down in the middle of the screen, then an option pops up for Camera Content in the Pro Version. Looks like this only works with the Pro version and on certain newer cameras.
I’m using a iPhone 15 and am trying to connect it to a A6400. I used the micro usb to usb an and a usb a to usb c adapter. But my camera won’t connect it all. I even turned off the usb as peer setting and usb to pc remote . Anybody have any advice ?
Hey! Don’t have any personal experience but I highly doubt that the adapters would work like that, you really loose a lot of data connections when jumping cables. Typically power is prioritized so you can charger through adapters, but data transfer is unlikely. I would trial a USB-C cable to Micro-USB cable like this, amzn.to/4ggsBMK but data transfer from the Micro-USB port may just not work. If you buy it on Amazon you can return it if it doesn’t work, and maybe trial a USB-C to Mini HDMI like this: amzn.to/3MCPmwN If it doesn’t work you sadly may be out of luck on that camera until you get one with USB-C built in.
Im having a similar problem with an iphone 15, Monitor+ and an A7sii. I’ve tried using a usb-c to micro usb, and also tried a usb-c hdmi adapter to micro hdmi (which works with my android but not iphone 15) Hopefully it gets updated soon

Sorry for the delay! Testing it out myself, when you go down to the Media Tab in the preferences page there is a toggle button to “Copy to Camera Roll.” Looks like this will create a duplicate, but it seems all footage I take or record goes straight to the camera SD card, not the device.
Yes! Works the exact same in photo mode, just toggle switch on the camera but the function is the same. It unlocks drive modes such as continuous shot, single shot, pressing the “shoot” button in the middle of the screen releases the shutter.
@@anjosdomar269 I believe that is a setting you have to go to in the menu on the camera, you saw when I plugged it in it asked which mode to use and also that you can select don’t ask again. It’s just the standard DJI cable that came with the gimbal, but I also use a Kondor Blue cable like this for the right angle when on a tripod: amzn.to/3zLbNgF
@@jaymacphoto78 great to hear! I imagine that would be pretty nice if you have the camera mounted up to the film holder or table mount you’re using and can have the phone or iPad down I a better spot for viewing.
It does but people say you either need a OTG Lightning to USB-C cable, or the Apple Lighting to USB 3 Camera Adapter. I have not done it but read some of the other comments to find out the exact details!
I do not believe it can go higher, I think it is limited by the output of your camera but I’ve not found a setting on this. I think the capability is more focused on the monitoring and not recorder like an Atomos Ninja.
I have multiple items strewn together on this, most from Amazon. It’s a Small Rig Magic Arm, PGYTech phone holder. Now I have additional MagSafe mounts I use for the iPhone and also F22 quick release mounts. I plan to put a video out on Falcam F22 items soon!
Monitor’s website says it works only in wired mode between the Sony a6100-a6700 but you can’t access the camera’s storage, just see a live view. The Sony a6000 may be too old for this as that came out 10 years ago.

Looks like it would work but with very limited capability. It will not have the auto-focus even with the Pro version, and only limited camera controls. Also no ability to look at camera footage.
That’s the best point, I don’t think you do need the Accsoon! If you have a Sony compatible camera and USB-C iPhone 15 Pro this should work, though I don’t know which cameras this would work with. I was about to buy an Accsoon so I could do this exact thing but didn’t want an extra device to deal with and just plugged it in and it worked. I’ve used this for several hours of filming so far. I carry a Anker Battery Pack in my camera bag to quick charge my phone if it get’s lower.
@@leslieblak4496 personally I’ve not experienced any! In all honestly this is far smoother than I had expected and usually adjust via the phone screen instead of on the camera when I am wired up. I’m sure someone out there can get the latency numbers, but for me it’s a non-noticeable issue.

@RiejWoodeif you mean like a live view of what the camera screen shows I do not believe so. This sees what the camera sees beyond the lens, but not a view of the display settings or menus, just a live read-out of the sensor.
It does! 4 EL Zone modes, a Rec.709 800%, a rec.2020 HLG or something I think and two S-Logs. I typically only toggle the 709, but you get there by holding down the false color button and the settings for that specific mode pop up.
Exactly what I was just thinking - would this work? You answered that. And the reason nobody is talking about it is because they actually want you to spend money on extra gear - to get a commission.
Makes sense! I love not having to buy or carry extra gear so have been stoked to keep using this when I film. Maybe not as professional for people using monitors but I am not a pro by any means so it’s great.
I've been doing this for years on my pixel phones. I'm happy to hear that apple is finally abandoning their antiquated 1990s era cables and texting on their higher end phones.
The only data in the app is live FPS floating at 30FPS. I’ve never seen any stats on the latency but for my work it’s pretty much live and Image quality is 1080p. I’m not a pixel peeper or stats guru so for the quality and ease of just plugging my phone on it’s perfect! Used it to record just today!

This was all with a iPhone 15 Pro with the USB-C port, but check out some of the other comments and maybe someone will have that exact set-up.

I upgraded from a Ronin RS-C to the RS3-Mini, and this allowed me to Bluetooth to the camera so I can stream and remote control. Pretty great actually!
I see you can move the focus points around, but can you also touch to focus with the phone connected??
Yes you can with the Pro Version! Whatever you do on one a screen mirrors on the other. So you can do focus tracking on the iPhone and on the camera screen the tracking box appears, touch to focus on the camera then the box appears on the iPhone. Also the first setting in the monitor plus is selecting the tap function: 1: AF Area
2: Tracking + AE OFF (I leave it in this mode)
3: Tracking + AE On (Auto Exposer On)
4: AE (Auto Exposer only)
Hope this helps!
This is great!
What about using cameras without Wifi not USBc.. e.g. with HDMI or mini USB?
I can’t say I have any experience on that, I only have USB-C to USB-C cables and most likely only the newer cameras that have USB-C would have this capability. Some people have commented they are using USB-C to Lightning Cables with Apple’s Camera Adapter, and it’s working fine on older iPhone, but nobody has commented yet if they got it to work with HDMI. I do think Monitor Plus is a Sony specific app. Maybe you could order a cable on Amazon and give it a try! If it doesn’t work then a return should be easy.
Thanks for this video man just 1 question. Can you use a usb splitter? To power the external bettery and the connection to the app also?
Yes but it takes a very specific device that has PD pass through and a USB-C port, I’ve used this one and it works but it’s probably not great on the phone battery haha. It’s from Acer amzn.to/3OVULAs It can charger the phone and still allow the app to function.
@@PhilipBlank thank you for getting back to me, what about a simple splitter with just 2 female ends, 1 for power from ext battery and 2nd female end for video connection to phone app, or does it have to be through the acer hub?
or another option, 2 separate wires: micro hdmi to usb c (cam to phone)
and then usb c to usb c (cam to ext battery) would that work?
thanks again for your time
@@ttog8883to be honest I don’t know as this is the only thing I’ve found to work of what I had.
@ thanks man I just went with what you suggested with the acer hub, much appreciated for the advice 🙌🏾
hopefully it works for you! I’m still curious about the splitter, could work but just don’t need more gear with what I have.
i do have a question, i have a a7III, wich is 8bit, and the iphone is 10bit, i wich format it will record? coud be as a monitor and recoerder? as a external 10bit recorder?
Great question, but I don’t believe the app was primarily intended as a recording device, mainly a monitor. It can record up to 1080p and save to your phone but it doesn’t say the bit depth. That’s a technical question beyond me so I don’t have a good answer sadly!
I only have a slt-a65 myself would this work using mini hdmi to usb c?
Is it possible to power a smartphone via USB? How long can the smartphone last with the app running?
wireless charger works.
Very excited about this
Hey man I'm running into some trouble with this I'm thinking I got the wrong cable through, would you mind dropping a link to the one you purchased?
@@chrisingram5251 I also have problems with my cable connection, which one did you buy?
@@shaaban_ well i got one from amazon by Meenova. That cable worked great but it was just too short for where i had my phone mounted. I have since not been able to find another cable that has worked. I just wanted that same cable but in a 1ft length. They unfortunately don’t have them in that length. So i’m 3 cables in with no luck. I am now waiting on an adapter and will go from there.

Oh man! I wonder if it’s the A7R4 with the older chip? I use this non-stop on my A7 C ii with an iPad Air and iPhone 15 Pro.
Any other setting tips? I can not get it to connect via USBc
Correction, it’s connect but says “no signal” it’s reading my FX30 but not displaying the image. Any tips would be awesome!
I’ll dig in my camera tomorrow to see if I can spot a specific option.
yes it works as a monitor - but how do view the photo to show to your model ?
I’ve tried using a usb-c to micro usb,
and also tried a usb-c hdmi adapter to micro hdmi

Sorry for the delay! Testing it out myself, when you go down to the Media Tab in the preferences page there is a toggle button to “Copy to Camera Roll.” Looks like this will create a duplicate, but it seems all footage I take or record goes straight to the camera SD card, not the device.

Yes! Works the exact same in photo mode, just toggle switch on the camera but the function is the same. It unlocks drive modes such as continuous shot, single shot, pressing the “shoot” button in the middle of the screen releases the shutter.

Monitor’s website says it works only in wired mode between the Sony a6100-a6700 but you can’t access the camera’s storage, just see a live view. The Sony a6000 may be too old for this as that came out 10 years ago.

So why would I need a accsoon ? I’m confused the only reason I’m seeing is to charge the phone at the same time
That’s the best point, I don’t think you do need the Accsoon! I charge the phone up before use as it does drain battery rather quickly with the iPhone screen on full brightness, but it keeps the camera mostly charged up. I carry a Anker Battery Pack in my camera bag to quick charge my phone if it get’s lower.

It does! 4 EL Zone modes, a Rec.709 800%, a rec.2020 HLG or something I think and two S-Logs. I typically only toggle the 709, but you get there by holding down the false color button and the settings for that specific mode pop up.

It works with all phones with modern USB. All android phones and 15 and up pro iPhones.
