I was 16 & a local garage owner hired me .. A couple yrs later he retired , but for 40 yrs he had piled his scrap behind his barn , which totaled many tons .. He told me to haul it off h he'd split the ticket with me... It took me 8 days to haul that pile (mostly brake rotors & drums) to the salvage yard .. I could take 3 loads a day with my dads 1/2 ton F100 ... I made just over $4000 as did he . (This was back in 83') I took that money & bought a 77 3/4 ton Ford & a M.F. diesel tractor .. I used that truck to deliver firewood & the tractor to haul it outta the wood... My uncle owned a sawmill & bought standing timber , so I went in & cut the tops up for firewood .. It was free & plenty of it ...whats more it made for a clean timbering operation . I delivered up to 25 miles for $50 & with the money I bought my first acreage ... It was 7.5 acres of beautiful land that had a beautiful stream running through it... I built a beautiful home there a few yrs later & raised my kids... It all started with scrapping iron & lots of hard work..
Friend, you had more sense than most at a young age. Most boys would have taken the money that was made from such hard labor and just flat out blew it. My hats off to you for you showed signs of a man early on.
If only others had the drive that you had back in your come up days!!!………people nowadays are all just expecting a handout ot a stimulus check if you will!!! ….yea times have definitely changed, and not for the better!!
agreed gus and Jenn just add to the fun. Chris knows his shit, wish he was my neighbor. I just hope kiddo looks more like jenn.😂 Chris is a lucky hardworking guy, I'm happy for him and jenn.
Hi Mate, My name is Adam from Adelaide Australia. I thoroughly enjoy your content. I like the variety and love your down to earth attitude. I look forward to everyone you put out. Keep them coming, champ.
I'm a 60yr old lady that really enjoys your channel and Jen's channel. I love that Chevelle! It looks like so much fun to drive. Great scrap yard run, too!! 👍
I particularly enjoyed your positive attitude about getting to work. " it might be bad weather, you may not feel like it but just get started and before you know it , you are halfway there "( I am paraphrasing. Reminds me of the woodie Allen quote, Just showing up is half the battle. Excellent advice.
Chris, your camera work is superb. I wish some of the others (Pole Barn, Junkyard Digs, Vicegrip) would come up to your level. I never miss a shot on your builds and your drone work is second to none.
i go to that scrap yard and they are the best. great guys who make sure im getting as much money as i can. i also found out about them not taking CATs without the title for the vehicle they came off of and i was very happy because if scrapyards wont take CATs without the title, itll hopefully lead to less CAT thefts
Reminds me of my good ole days, Hittin the jackpot on scrap , helpin out some poor ole guy (trying at least) hot rodding around town gettin some gear scratch, dinking withs some lites on the back of your truck, just a good laid back day. Not to forget the swim in ole Georges Delaware crossing path. Final note; do not scrap the A/C on teh Chevelle. You may not want it but someday someone will. Just work around it a little. You do that in Arizona its call molestation. Bypass the heater and live with the inconvenience of the thing in the way. Thanks for taking me along for the ride and the good times. Give Jen a big momma hug . Bless you , and her and your daughter. Peace
My wife has had her 70 Chevelle SS 396 with a fully functioning cowl induction since 1984 , it's been in the garage for the past 23 years . She decided to give it to our son (now 34) , he said he wants to go through it and start driving it again . We'll see if he goes through with it .
Chris just doesn't F around. I watch VGG, Stay Tuned, Puddin, JYD, PBG and NNKH and every time I see Chris' stuff it's like watching a surgeon conduct his craft. He's a throwback that's for sure.
You are doing a great job with the Chevelle the car sounds great it takes me back to my younger years when i saw friend's dad start his 70 ss 396 375 hp 4 speed Chevelle headers with flow masters so sweet and a friend from school his brother had a 63 Nova with a 327 and a tunnel ram and two 450 holley and a 12bolt rear and he was running a 2speed power glide that and my brother had a 78 z28 4 speed so i am glad to be able to witness the i saw growing up 😀
i know you said your not doing a restoration, but i was suprised you used licence plates. I hope ya do put a better than that thicker larger area fix in the future. Love the chevelle vids. . Cant wait for # 4
Great as always! I think you defined a whole new category of making videos that could be referenced to if someone else trying to do videos in your style, you set the mark! 👍👍👍
Gus-man + better food = more energy? Careful what you ask for. LOL. Same spring setup on my 70 SS Chevelle. Exhaust. Used the Pypes But no cross over and shorty headers for the ground clearance. Yes Pypes could do a little better on fitment for the A Bodies. Had to correct same issue with tail pipes to chassis clearance. Ditched the Pypes mufflers got tired of the droning. Even with full interior and deeding won't help. Went with Dynomax Super Turbos. What a difference. No performance loss that I can tell. %02 H.O. 3200 stall on shift kit 400 turbo auto. Gear Bender to 3.31 Tru-Trac. Good performance and street able.
This video was a fun mix of content. Loved the sound of the Chevelle, found the scrap portion interesting, admired you for trying to help the guy who was broken down, and enjoyed the air boat drone shots. Cool video. 😀
I slightly miss scrapping with my Dad. I don't miss how hard it can be on your body. Still, flinging rotors out the back of the truck I always enjoyed for some reason lol. I more miss the odd jobs we'd do and folks at the flea market that aren't with us anymore. Good times and crazy adventures I'll never forget. Hoping my Dads cataract surgeries go well and we can do some of that again.
You always give us home garage mechanics (term used lightly in my case) hope and re-assurance that you dont need trailer queens to have fun with hotrods. Ty
Thank you for simplifying things that I now have the knowledge to not let auto problems worry me as much as they have before binge watching your channel.
Don't sell the rollback!!! Such a unique truck. But I would understand if you had to. And any ad with Gus in it, there's no way I'm skipping it 😂 . So funny and well done. Unlike the other ads on TH-cam. Keep up the great work, Chris!
Man, I remember doing scrap runs when I worked for a Nissan dealer. The '11 Titan Pro-4x weighed 5800lbs emtpy. Rolled up a few times weighing 9,000lbs+. Love it.
OMG right by Pete's welding? I work there for 20 years. Fabricating and making drive shafts. I know I know the brothers were not the nicest guys but man they were smart. I learned so much.
WOW!!! WHAT A VIDEO... FIXER UPPER DAY,,.. GREAT TO SEE THE CHEVELLE ,.. LIKE TO SEE THE DOG CHOW FOOD, WONDERFUL.. HI TO JEN,, TAKE CARE W/ THE BABY ,, PEACE CHRIS...
if theres one thing i love about your channel, which makes you my favorite one even, is that you dont sugarcoat the superiority of manual transmissions that all cars should have
Wish we had some nice weather like that in the UK, been a lousy summer so far, cool, wet and windy nearly every day...anyway great vid, love that Chevelle
Good going on the vapor barrier, and putting some 2x6 blocks vertically under the frame will help keep the springs from sagging during long term storage , just enough to take some load off not tires off the ground.👍
My all time favorite car, my all time favorite year, and my all time favorite color. I’m looking forward to owning one someday. Been teaching myself how to work on cars starting with COVID all so I can get a 71 to bring back to life.
Man, I hope you can polish up the loose ends on this Chevelle and bring her back to former glory! Beautiful car brotha, keep posting the vids! God Bless!
Your scrap yard sounds confusing compared to ours. Ours is simple, weigh in full, weigh out empty for ferrous. Aluminum, brass and copper, etc. gets weighed inside.
Hi Chris thanks for another great video, I hope Jen is feeling well, I look forward to your videos, they are informative as well as entertaining ,thank you so much sir.
Wow, you're right near my work.I work behind there to scrap yard at Clayton's concrete. The one video you could see are silos in the background to the left
I’m right around the corner from the scrap yard here in Hamilton. Good to see you helping out the scrappers! I had some scrappers take a bunch of metal from my place when I moved.
I congratulate you! The release turned out be very interesting! Everything as they say in everyday life! A little work,a little rest, that's how our good life goes! Thank you! All the best👍 Hello from🇺🇦✌
Another fun video Chris, and I still love that Chevelle! The old airboat is running good and looked like alot of fun out there. See you on the next video, take care until then. 👍
Used to crack me up. Local body shop for years would throw out rims damaged in accidents. We would go up and dumpster dive through the trash and pick them all out. Half the time they were aluminum.
Hi from the UK, I'm an Engineer and love watching your videos. Fixing machines/Engines plays right into my wheel house. The Great Willy Nelson at the end was the cherry on top.
You should try Seal-All. I've used it on a number of leaking tanks and it works absolutely great. You should be able to find it at any hardware store. Ithink it's a Canadian product, I get it at Canadian Tire. It's completely oil and gas resistant.
That's what I used for a quick patch in the shop with a piece of tin foil. Sealed like a charm! And then I threw a bunch of that putty over top. But really the tank should be replaced. More rust holes to come.
Gosh sakes, I had completely forgotten about that hot rod. Love a big block Chevelle. Rallye wheels are perfect...shine juice did a great job...that is a keeper. Last observation, cars don't rust in S.E. Arizona. Also, with just a bit of work that would be a great Power Tour rig.
Chris keep up the good work. I love your TH-cam videos. You, polebarngarage and junkyard digs and junkyard mook are the ones I always look forward to watch when yall drop new bangers. I hope you dalton and kevin will do a video together to build squarebodies or go to a junkyard to revive some vehicles

Took 900lbs of scrap iron and a mix of other more expensive metals to the recycling yard today. Always a good time making some scrap money.
This MF don't miss. Every video is top notch. Good work. Can't tell you how much I enjoy your channel. Better than half the stuff on cable tv.
More ads on this video than cable tv.
*most the stuff on cable tv lol

Always a good day when NNKH drops a video. Thank you guys!
Everytime !
Agree, love this channel!
Thank you very much for pulling over to help the older brother work on his truck that was very very nice of you appreciate that

Great scrap yard run, too!! 👍
Just about to open a bottle of wine and NNKH drops a post… That’s me sorted for the next hour. 😊
20:05 doing donuts in a parking lot, topless in a beater chevelle, hot summer day, what a vibe man!!
Perfect..license plate floor repair ! You are doing this the right way. Congrats.

This Chevelle would be so easy to clean up. And I love the look of the round exhaust pipes coming out the back. Please keep them.
Another great video. Thanks for showing the scrap yard, never been to one and was curious how things worked/ what scrap to keep

Love Travis and his Dad's stuff
scrapper for life, i'm with you brother!! my dad took me scrapping as a boy, 60 now and still stop for good junk on the roadside.. you guys rock!!
My dad was a welder in the early 90’s and I remember him rocking those exact red, white, and blue safety glasses!
I remember wearing them…
Burnout on the garage floor you were so picking about, love it!!

That is a great fix with the aluminium packers on the exhaust beats mucking around with the sealant thanks man
The chevelle deserves to be restored in its entirety, i like your videos..
Really enjoying this channel…never a dull episode!! Thanks!!
The Chevelle sounds great now, but there's nothing better than the sound of a Cummins Diesel accelerating...
This is one of the things I really like about your Videos is that you jump around and that's very cool Awesome stuff Chris Keep it up
